Liz and I have been through the 'tooth thing;' I started with orthodontics at 13, went through maxillofacial surgery twice, to fix a weak chin.

They also had to remove 6 extra teeth; two of which were in the forward part of my mouth's 'roof.' Speech therapy was required, so that people didn't think I came from NYC's Greenwich Village :question:...

When I had my braces removed, I had already made the transition from Catholic to public school; so, everyone knew me as the musical wimp with 'copper choppers,' and occasional cervical head gear.

When the braces were removed, no one recognized me. Dates became plentiful. I wore retainers at night, when I was home.

Fast foward to 1994, when I found out that I had cancer. I got into a car wreck, and I lost two left molars; my bottom front teeth went right through my face, an inch and a quarter under my lower lip. Boy, did I bleed. Unluckily for me, I was coming home from a gig - and the last thing I had done before leaving the gig was have a shot of that stuff with gold flakes in it, with my bandmates.

At midnight that night, the legal BAC had changed from .10 to .08. Thank goodness my father was in law enforcement, and I was an F.O.P. member. I went to court, with my goatee shaved off, and the other guy involved had a suspended license, no insurance, and - mistake #3: don't show up to court wearing jean shorts, unshaven, and wearing a vest with the Confederate flag on the back of it.

The female judge looked at me after the other fellow's attorney pled his case; then, my sawed-off, guitar playing buddy (who happened to be a lawyer) said: "Do you see this man, Your Honor? He's a family man, with two very young children, a wife, and he is the caretaker of his family.

He cares for his father, a cop who has a wife lying in a hospital on life support, in a vegetative state; this man is also a caregiver for his paternal grandfather, 88 years old; and, he makes a living with his face - on local television commercials, and as the lead guitarist and vocalist of ******** Band, locally known for YEARS. Look at his face, Your Honor - he'll have to wear a beard, or goatee to hide this scar. That's all, Your Honor."

The judge looked at me in my blazer, slacks, shirt and tie - and looked into my eyes. She intoned: Mr. ---------, the charges against you in this case are dismissed; as for Mr. -----, he is found guilty of having no drivers' license, no auto insurance, and failing to use hazard lights when his furniture fell out of his truck. He will be remanded into custody. Court is adjourned." (Gavel.)

My attorney was saying, "Walk, man. It's over. Let's go."

A week later, I got the news about my biopsy. Went through treatment hell, but I fought the good fight.

I got some good news in today's mail - my blood workup was "excellent, with great numbers." A1C - 6.0; PSAs - 6; Cholesterol - I'm 30 points below the danger zone. Everything else was 'normal,' or 'ABOVE normal.'

Still, I'm nervous because I've got two surgeries this month; the move, and when all my records transfer to Colorado - another surgery (gallbladder). I'm still grateful for every day that I continue. Thanks be to God.

@Boattlebot - if you have any doubts, go back. A serious abscess can form, and your blood can become septic. If it's dry socket, make sure the dentist packs the 'hole' where your removed tooth is with antiseptic strips, and prescribes more antibiotics.

When Liz got an infected lower tooth, it spread - so, the dentist put her on antibiotics a week before he pulled the teeth. Took a mold of her lower jaw, so she could wear partials.

No drinkee. Period.

Morning everyone ! Just have to get through this week and I have two weekends off and a weeks vacation ! Yaaaaaaay ! Of course it will be workcation that's where your on vacation but your home doing work LMAO. Have a good day !

Good luck wit dat. I usually wind up having to go back in 3-4 times during stay-cations.
