From what I've read about it further.......It's a reverse polarity battery issue. Some (probably MANY) do NOT have reverse battery protection (like they were advertised having). If you put the batteries in the wrong way, it will automatically fire and/or possibly fry the chipset in it. IDK!?
I'm thinking that you'll be purchasing a DIFFERENT brand for the next one?I'm not laughing at all

I'm sore as all get out... Painting well house frame = good; Getting up and down to get to all the nooks and crannies = Not good. Doesn't help that we used ancient lumber torn off an old barn. Cracks, nicks, holes galore.
