Ah, the other side of the pond! Me, Richmond, Virginia USA, East Coast.

Sounds lovely, we too are just getting the winter in, but it's just cold wet and grey, manchester is depressing in the winter, luckily we have Wales, Snowdonia an hour away, we go as often as we can and are hopefully moving there one day.

I think he means -1*C or about 30*F (for those that may be confused).
