Yes thank you.Choked down enough ibuprofen to take out a horse in the four days and the inflammation is finally subsiding. ("enough ibuprofen to take out a horse"? Ok that makes no sense but you know what I mean. I hope.)

You're welcome. That is good, hope it keeps on getting well. Lol, unfortunately I do know what ya mean. Wish I didn't tho.

The thing is: If it is gout it's a metabolic disorder that can be treated with several different meds to keep the uric acid levels down. But my MD went by the blood test levels and that test alone is often inconclusive. I have to go have another "discussion" about this and just wasn't up to gimping into the MD's office during this attack.

I wouldn't have felt like going either. I have no knowledge about gout, haven't googled it. An old friend of mine has the same thing, but he never told me what he does for it. I do know that it sucks. Sorry.

Welp the dietary restrictions are more conjecture than anything else. The latest one is "no high fructose corn syrup" and I wonder where they came up with that one.

Either your system is producing too much uric acid (which may or may not be dietary related) or your kidneys aren't removing enough uric acid even if the amount produced is normal. Thus the medications to keep the uric acid level down. High levels form crystals in the joints and it's painful as a mofo.

During an attack it's all about anti-inflammatories like nsaids or even steroids.

The greater concern is to prevent the attacks to begin with as recurring attacks cause joint damage similar to arthritis issues. Fortunately it's been a pretty rare thing for me but I would rather get on my MD's butt to be more proactive. In other words GIMME A 'SCRIPT FOR THE DAMMED MEDS!!! :cuss2: :gaah:

Have you looked for home remedies, natural healing? Taking prescriptions for a prolonged periods can be hard on the rest of your body, which I'm sure you know.
