Good early morning now Rick.!
Hi Mark!![]()

Good early morning now Rick.![]()
I know that feeling all too well as a graveyard shift worker.Good evenmorn Mark!
Don't mind me - I haven't slept in over 24 hours and am getting silly. I'm still coming off that really bad cold I picked up last week so I've been sleeping around a lot. (No... wait...) After a solid 12 hour nap some time Thursday through Friday my sleep clock doesn't know what to do with itself right now.
Evening... uhh... not Mark!

Hey MarkHiya Kev, and OBW.![]()
.I know what ya meanI've been waiting for some stuff sent Registered Airmail via PostNL.
I think PostNL stands for Never Lands.
Since 2017-03-27 19:46, "The item is on transport to the country of destination," Serious air to air refueling operation there...
), that I ordered from a USA company out of NY. The reason that I chose them, was so that I could have it in 2-3 days after they shipped it (since I'm just one state over from NY). Now I see that the dummies shipped the item DHL
. It was shipped from NY (Mar 28th) the day after I ordered it, and has been stuck in NJ
since the 31st. I might have gotten it from China quicker Were you aware that Fedex does not do home deliveries on Mondays? Just because they can. Errr. can't. Errr...

Any thoughts about this charger? Would you charge your 18650's @ 3 amps? Do you think that this is too much stress on the batteries? Thoughts appreciated.
Thanks. I've read some. Some good.....some not so good.Give me a minute to pull up reviews. Short version - don't impulse buy that one.

Thanks......I appreciate your info! I currently have a Nitecore D4, as well as an Xtar VC4. I'll just stick with what I know works well for me then. Thanks again. If I were me I wouldn't buy it. Why you ask?
The first version of this charger has several design flaws which had to be corrected with a "V2" of the same model. We aren't supposed to be beta testing for NiteCore in the field. This, unfortunately, isn't an isolated thing with NiteCore - having to redesign and issue a "V2" model to correct design flaws that never should have made it past R&D to begin with.

They fixed the problems with the redesigned version, but it still has it's quirks indicating it's not a quality charger or design. It's good for high capacity batteries - but they aren't claiming it's only for use with high capacity batteries either.

I'm not about to hide my bias: I am not a fan of NiteCore for these and many other reasons. I don't like chargers with built in power supplies because that generates heat. Heat that does transfer to the batteries while charging, and heat that impacts the components of the charger itself. NiteCore does seem to have a high failure rate in the field.
As far as 3A charging goes? That's a battery specific thing. There are several 18650 that can be charged higher than 2A - but I would check your battery specs before doing it.
Get an Xtar. There - I said it. I have never seen them issue a charger that needed to be "fixed" after it was in the market already. (With one exception and that was due to a case plastics problem - not an electronics engineering problem.)

. Hey Kev, if you speak with Jon at Liion, he always recommends .50A for 18650's and no more than 1A to extend battery life. I suppose you could try 3A on a battery you don't care about to see how warm it gets while charging and then you could gage if it's worth it?https://ecig-city.com/collections/charger/products/nitecore-sc2-3a-capable-battery-charger
