@VapnJake -
Our thoughts are with you, and your father. My father died of cancer back in 2006 - colon, brain, pretty much everywhere. Medicine has improved since that time, so don't count ol' Dad out yet...
As far as the perp is concerned that beat a three-year-old into an unresponsive state, this person should get the maximum sentence. By the way - my father was a police officer, too. I was a member of the FOP, and all of that. I heard many stories. Thank goodness for the people like you, who protect and serve the rest of us.

Thanks for your words! We're hoping for good news Tuesday at his procedure, but like you said the field of medicine is evolving daily so I still have high hopes even if the news isn't so promising...
As for the court case... He was found guilty on all counts, which were Cruelty to child 1st degree, Cruelty to child 2nd degree, Felony Possession of m*rijuana, and Felony Possession of tools to commit a crime... The plea deal that he originally turned down was 20 years serve 12, so I'm figuring that his actual sentencing is going to be a bit longer... we shall find out on the 25th!
