Good morning from the willywags of North Carolina (soon to be Colorado - Yay!). We found out some pretty interesting information about the county we live in:
#1 in the state for M*th Labs, and arrests
#1 in the state for alcohol-related arrests (DWIs) (note: even though we hang out in Whiskey's Corner, we're both drug and alcohol free... no judgement to anyone who enjoys alcoholic beverages and m*rijuana, et cetera... unfortunately, there's some of us that just can't participate at the 'party'.
Also, another note about our fair county: it is the home of the local KKK; and, their Grand Wizard lives just a few miles from where we are. Insert shudder here...
Gosh. We are definitely fish out of water. I used to live near Chapel Hill years ago (my first stint in rehab started there, 1987 - I haven't been near the offending drug since). It was due to the location of the band that I performed with at the time (I won't mention them, but they had a hit back in the '60s called "May I").
However, when I perform music in Raleigh, NC, it's pretty urbane up there. The people are nice, and since you're close to UNC and Duke in the Triangle area - you can actually have poly-syllabic conversations (!). When you go to the mountains (the Appalachians and the Blue Ridge, where it starts), it is a beautiful experience - and the college crowd from Appalachian State are simply wonderful. Yet...
Rural life. What a kick in the @$$... no offense, North Carolina, but we're not long for leaving here. We're smack dab in the middle of tobacco country, and plethora chicken/hog/ turkey farms. The aroma, while driving, can be quite unpleasant. My family moved to Virginia years ago, while I was still making a stab at college back home in New England. Associates Degree? Yup. My bad habits were my undoing. Chalk that up to a couple of early life-altering experiences. That's why I have a psychiatrist, therapist, and medicine.. I've been a diabetic all of my life.. Okay, enough about me.
I moved here (from South Carolina, of all places) because of my sweetheart. We're both divorced, and we met online. We vetted each other for a long time, before we ever met in person. Our politics are identical, and, our value systems are a complete match. I went around the Universe, it seems, before I finally found the woman of my dreams. However, I digress... back to the train of thought I was writing about:
She, being from Colorado, was not aware of the area that she ended up settling in, when she first came out here from The Rockies. Being a former resident, I warned her - but, she already knew - after living here fourteen years. She's so wonderful, and I'm so grateful to have her in my life. She's a tiny little thing, and just soooooo adorable. She has curly blond hair that I'm absolutely mad about. My haircut is a simple one - just look at my avatar (it takes a six-blade razor). Believe it or not, I adopted that haircut long before Bruce Willis and Joe Satriani did (LoL).
She and I are both cancer survivors. What's hilarious is that even though her family and mine have no biological relationship whatsoever, our hands and feet look alike - except, she's a women's size 6 1/2 (pretty little feet!). I'm a men's size 10 - but, the shape of our feet and toes are exactly the same. Her hands and feet are much thinner than mine, yet, the resemblance is uncanny.
I can already sense the forum's response: LOveWerks, you better take a trip down Ancestry.com Lane.
We already know that our bloodlines are completely unrelated, so, you can save the banjo music for when I have to go outside to 'shake some bushes'. like I had to do a few days back (thank goodness we have our water back!).
If you read this entire post, then, your patience for long-winded, literary humans is a blessing. I just wanted to share. Have a great day, everyone.

Morning everyone!
I've been in and out over the past few days... it is due to a combination of ALOT on my mind and a very busy schedule. I'm somewhat fortunate of the busy schedule as it has given me little time to sit and harp on my thoughts...
As some of you know I am in law enforcement and one thought I'm having and something that's taken a majority of my time this week is a Jury trial that we are expecting a verdict drawn today on a guy who beat his girlfriend's 3 year old son into an unresponsive state... Can't really say much more than that right now but reliving the experience of carrying an unresponsive 3 year old to the ambulance is one of a few memories I'd rather keep out of my mind....
Another thing that's on my mind is I received word early this week that my father has an appointment next Tuesday to find out if the masses in his lung are lung cancer... He is an ex smoker of about 3 years now and he smoked for atleast 45 years... He also suffers from COPD and was advised that in the past 5 months he's lost 60 lbs (he started at around 180 lbs so he is 120 lbs now) and his blood oxygen content is Very low... The thing that worries him and me very much is that both his parents and grandparents have all passed due to complications with cancer... Right now all of his symptoms can be contributed to his history of smoking cigs... I wish that I had never picked up a cigarette but I'm very fortunate and proud that I did not make it a 45 year experience!
All I can say is thank you, and it's guys like u that keep guys like me gainfully employed. Seems criminals can't go to prison for me to babysit without the officers on the street putting em there, and unfortunately there are far too many dumbasses in the world that the system will always be full. Just so u know they act like little assholes behind bars too, and gang violence carries over both ways, from the inside out or the outside in. Just last week some of our little gang bangers got in to a scuffle that I think stemmed from something that happened on the streets, pretty bloody mess I was told, I wasn't at work at the time. Blue v red and one of the red guys didn't make it. So yeah, it's a pretty fucked up world we live in that's for sure.Morning everyone!

I think I'm the only vaper at least on my shift at work, granted I don't hang in the parking lot anymore like I used to, different group of people now and I honestly just wanna get in the car Chuck on my isub and get outta there lol. That leaves me about 6 more to convert to vaping. The 4 that had rigs all said they are loving them and don't want a smoke, and understood why I always stood off to the side away from them at their tables. Now I can sit at a table again. 5 vapers have reclaimed the table furthest away from the butt can!
