I remember that. No school for 2 weeks, all the way down here.Blizzard of '78.
Checking in... again... we were a bit concerned in Central NC last night, but no snow, or even a 'dusting' happened.
Slowly but surely, house repairs are getting done prior to sale. We've already had some offers - it's a cute 1.38 acre spot with its own underground spring. The water is awesome.
Neighbors tried to petition the county to get access to the spring, but Liz said "no," and won. So, it looks like Colorado is looming...
Snow. Yep, I grew up in it in New England, and survived the Blizzard of '78. The dry cold I'll be able to handle, with layers and wool socks. My Hoveround, however, will remain indoors.
It looks like a cheap-but-reliable ATV may be needed, if I wish to venture out of doors in the Winter. As the kids say today:
Kewl.

Oh my.. Way back when I went up to Iowa.. they had snow like that. That was when I smoked a pack or more a day.. Needless to say I didn't even want to go take a cigarette break for nothin.. When the smallest amount of ice forms in the streets they shut the whole city down haha![]()
You can have our snow!

You let it melt, then play in mud puddles.OMG ... forgive my ignorance, but.... when It floods, we usually get stuck someplace for a few hours or just stay in for a day/night until the pumps take it away.
What do you do when that 3-4 inches of precipitation an hour convert to 4 Ft of frozen water?
So if It stays that cold and it doesn't melt, that's when you get the walls of snow? Oh wow. ya'll are some tuff people dealing with all of that.You let it melt, then play in mud puddles.
Lol it's not that bad, snow or ice we survive. Nothing stops us from doing what we need to do! Especially if you have 4wd and studded snow tires.So if It stays that cold and it doesn't melt, that's when you get the walls of snow? Oh wow. ya'll are some tuff people dealing with all of that.
@f1r3b1rd
It's the Cajuns and the ****@$$ that live in danger, everyday. Alligators, venomous snakes, p-o'd raccoons - oh, hell no.
@f1r3b1rd, in 'Nawlins - you've gotta worry about the floods. Since you're in near-tropical climate, the only fears you probably have are things like Hurricane Katrina, and your backup gennies going to the wastegate flood water removal ALL SHUTTING DOWN.
I'd rather be in New England, or Colorado - where the snowplows create snowbanks so large that they block the front of your house - because the Department of Public Works keep the sidewalks usable, but sometimes slippery.
There is no way I'd live anywhere near the lower Mississippi river, and the Gulf Of Mexico. Period. That's worse than living 20 miles away from Cali's San Andreas Fault, during high summer. At least there, you can run, drive, get away... but, after what I saw Katrina do back in '05 - nope.
Wow my belief already shipped and tracking says expect it Friday from Chinawow I'm impressed
