it's just a little confusing why kanthel and nickel seems to work OK in TC mode...but because I'm not sure if it's safe for the chip I'll run kanthel in the power mode only... Thanks for your replyI know with my dna it works on temp control only with nickel. I don't know how but the dna senses if its kanthal or nickel.your mod might be diffrent if you got it to work in tc with a kanthal build
+1It will run OK but won't throttle back the power when drying out and you'll eventually get a dry hit of death. Nickel resistance changes as it heats up. It starts around .10 and can reach up to .40+ once it reaches a set resistance the mod knows the temp the coil is at. Kanthal changes in resistance is minimal maybe .01 to .02 difference when hot.
yeah i fucked up and ordered 32 ga ni200. It's a blast to work with ha ha ha haI've only used 26ga Ni200, but I don't find it that tough to work with. Almost like 30ga Kanthal, maybe closer to 28ga. I think the fact that it's so malleable makes wrapping easier. I can't even imagine 30ga Ni200, though.
This is true, in fact, for most wires, however, temp "control" is only designed to work with Ni200 currently. As a @dre previously mentioned, the other wires are such a small difference in resistance, it is difficult to precisely measure it's temperature. Titanium will work as well, but the mods that use temperature "control" aren't calibrated to use titanium the same way, so your maximum coil temp will not be what you've dialed in.The relationship between temperature and resistance is a linear algorithm in Nickel wire, when the temp rises, so does the resistance. Since the relationship is linear and repeatable, it can be programmed into a current controlling board.
That sounds like pure hell. Lol. I used to build tiny diameter coils, wrapped on a little blue atty screwdriver for Kayfuns, with 30ga. Wire that thin is so difficult to wick, it just shifts too much. Going to 28 was revolutionary, and 26 even more so.yeah i fucked up and ordered 32 ga ni200. It's a blast to work with ha ha ha ha
Nice. Hope the pre order doesn't get fucked like the iPV4. When you get it definitely report back on how it is. I'm curious about how the Ti coils work out.Held off on the IPV4 on a gut feeling then I saw the Joyetech and preordered now the waiting game to test the titanium head.
Me too! LolNice. Hope the pre order doesn't get fucked like the iPV4. When you get it definitely report back on how it is. I'm curious about how the Ti coils work out.
With my luck it will sit at denver usps depot for a week then head to cheyenne its been awful lately.Nice. Hope the pre order doesn't get fucked like the iPV4. When you get it definitely report back on how it is. I'm curious about how the Ti coils work out.
Yes, it has been bad lately with USPS. Usually for me once it hits Denver, I'm good. My stuff has taken some detours though, recently. With my luck it will sit at denver usps depot for a week then head to cheyenne its been awful lately.
Indeed. Mine has been going to salt lake then to denver if shipped from the east coast which is mind boggling.Yes, it has been bad lately with USPS. Usually for me once it hits Denver, I'm good. My stuff has taken some detours though, recently.
Yup, my iPV4 from L.A. Went to Chicago then came here. WTF?Indeed. Mine has been going to salt lake then to denver if shipped from the east coast which is mind boggling.
Haha....you would think only packages leaving the rockies would be held upYup, my iPV4 from L.A. Went to Chicago then came here. WTF?
Well brother I will say I cancelled my Evic VT. The store I work in Cheyenne got in the SMY50 w/TC. I purchased it for $60 and some change. Let me say it is very nice. It does beat like a heart beat monitor but you become use to it and forget about the noise. Its runs off a single 18650 and i got a 12 hours running it at 36 watts on a 0.65 kanthal dual coil. Today I ran my original kanger subtank with the 0.15 Ni200 coil. So it takes about 1-2 seconds to hit your required temp. I then this afternoon did an 11 wrap 30G Ni200 wire on a 2mm magical blue screwdriver. It is sitting at 0.15-0.12 ohms. It is very "SIK AS TITS!" Battery life on temp isnt long maybe 6-8 hours. I am going to try a titanium build tomorrow at work. I am sure the IPV4 blows it out of the water with battery longevity how switching between "normal and TC Mode" is a simple as you dont have to sift through the menus. Anyways sorry for the wall o text but I wanted to keep you updated. Also we now have a perfect clone of 5280's Fourteener (ours is sweeter with no wierd muffin after taste), Nana Rulee (ours is hands down best ripe banana cream pie with the brulee on the exhale) and Pepe Deux. However we can make ours as 70pg/30vg, 50pg/50vg and 20pg/80vg. Anyways peace buddy.Yup, my iPV4 from L.A. Went to Chicago then came here. WTF?
Awesome man! That SMY is pretty nice looking, I'm holding out for the iPV3 Li, I'm gonna have four P4Y mods if I get it. Lol. It never stops. Temp control is sweet, but it's so finicky. The temperature of the room can make the resistance change, I'm always adjusting to different temps when I use a new atty. once I get it going, it's good. Crazy to be able to just hold the fire button until my rayon is dry and white. Flavor changes are a breeze. I have two Mutations built with nickel, and I'm vaping a kayfun I finally built with it, now. It's ok, but I've been waiting for a sub ohm tank, and delaying the purchase for so long. My kayfuns collect dust since I got into dripping, and I tried an Arctic Tank at the B&M both .2 and .5 coils. The thing is fucking incredible. If I weren't broke ATM, I'd have At least one. So you work in a vape shop? That's gotta be nice. Glad you're enjoying your new gear man!Well brother I will say I cancelled my Evic VT. The store I work in Cheyenne got in the SMY50 w/TC. Yeah brother the room temp makes it wierd but its cool cuz it doesnt always hit the temp you set it at. Only thing that sucks is changing the wattage used to get to your temp will change to a lower one. Yeah got a medical retirement in the military and now have a stress free job. I will say i now hate building coils and im frustrated with the new emphasis on sub ohming as the younger 18-22 yr olds dont want to learn to wrap coils and they must want a cloud rda or tank so it gets old trying to explain battery safety and junk. But it is nice being able to push an istick 20watt and naut mini tank for $60 to a persqon trying to quit versus egos as they come back a week late saying they officially quit the sticks. Pm me if you want to try some of our more gourmet juices as B&M juices usually get a bad wrap but i can say ours hang with the "gourmet" over priced junk.Awesome man!
