wife getting burn now when she wasn't originally

I've been vaping for over 2 years now, and my wife has been on and off for the same amount of time. She was using the Innokin VV2.0 and Aspire tanks with I believe 1.8 Ohm coils. She consistently vapes Tribecca from Halo and loves the almost identical tobacco flavor. A couple of months ago, we decided to go to a vape shop that mixes thier own flavors. She found a flavor she liked, but now, almost any flavore she tries (other than tribecca) , seems to burn her throat. Thru trial and error we have come to realize that sub ohming is not for her and have stuck with the 1.8 coils. Any idea what could have caused this? It kind of scares her away from trying new flavors. Iv'e recently switched her to a Cool Fire IV and keep the voltage and wattage as low as possible. Thanks

Was the new flavor the same nicotine level as the old ones?
If it was a lower nicotine (even if by the mistake of the shop) it could be why the older flavors now give her a throat hit. She's not used to the higher nic.

Another possibility, was the new juice from the shop a much higher vg then all the old juices? If so, she might not be used to the throat hit from the PG in the old juices.

You mention sub ohming, had you been trying to get her to use it when the throat burning started? If so, that could be a reason as well. When switching from something high like a 1.8 to something low like (for example) a 0.5, you need to reduce the nicotine content as well. The lower ohm setup is far more efficient at delivering the nicotine so the throat hit and nic dosage get 'amplified'. An example of this was when I tried a coworkers juice in his nautilus mini on an iStick. His 18mg liquid didn't taste any stronger then the 3mg I was using in my 0.12 ohm dripper.

Cheap nicotine, cheap ingredients = harsh vape... Halo is huge for a reason...

Thanks for the replies. I'm gonna go with the possibilities of cheap ingredients. I'll have her try some major brand flavors and see if its any better. When it first started , I noticed that her display on the VV didn't work anymore and was worried the voltage got turned way up and didn't know it, the reason I switched her to the cool fire. If she normally vapes 18mg nic, then vaping a 3 or 6 on a sub ohm should be good, right?

Probably 6mg/ml should be good. Do yourselves a big favor and use good quality juices. I got into DIY because of that....well that and because I love playing around with the concentrations and flavors. The way I know it, PG= throat hit, VG= clouds. So, the shop you got your juice from could be perfectly fine (give them the benefit of a doubt) but if the PG/VG ratio is other than the one in the juice you were using (HALO), especially higher PG, you'll have major throat hit. Cheap nicotine will do that too.
