Beetlejuice 2 is happening. Winona Ryder, who played Lydia Deetz in the 1988 cult classic, confirmed her own involvement with the sequel in an interview on Late Night with Seth Meyers.
“Um, I think I can confirm it, because Tim Burton did this interview,” the actress said (via Entertainment Weekly). "(It) was very hush hush, top secret … and then he was doing some press for Big Eyes and he did an on-camera interview and he said, ‘Oh yeah, we’re doing it and Winona’s going to be in it.’”
“I mean if he said it, then I can,” said Ryder.
When last we heard about the potential for a Beetlejuice sequel back in January, screenwriter Seth Grahame-Smith revealed it could begin filming by the end of this year.
