Wire advice...

Hey vapers, looking to buy my first set of wire.. Claptons in SS to be exact...
My mod is a 80w Evic Vtwo and i usually prefer tc....
Looking for good flavor but nothing that guzzles juice or needs more power than i have...
Ive no experience with any of these but here is what im looking at:
Staggered fused claptons
Triple parallel core fused claptons
430ss claptons
Or regular 316, 317, 430 ss wire...
Please advise...

claptons do tend to use more juice, maybe just get some SS 316L and build regular coils. I get good performance out of them in TC mode.

If you want to save juice.. Claptons are the opposite of what you want.

also claptons require some good wattage. with 80 watts max the best you can do is a 4 wrap single coil 3mm ID. Thats the build I use for my aeronaut and my 70-75 watt mods

I do have to say once you try claptons its hard to go back. I do still build some basic coils but mostly use claptons and vertabraid wire now. I still use a twisted 28g coil in one of my drippers and its around 1.0 ohm vaping at 18-20 watts and it has real good flavor and vapor.

I hear that I like them both just depends on what I put them in I guess. I just picked up a 25ft spool of clapton from lightning vapes during that sale super cheap!

I'm using the vertbraid 6 wire (6 braided starnads of 28g stainless) in a dual coil set up in my boreas and it's amazing. I'm also running a large fused clapton in my pharaoh and dual fused claptons in my TFV8, a mixed wire (twisted nife, SS430, and Kenthal) dual coil in my avacdo, a small single fused clapton in my aeronaut. I need to clean and put away some of them though too many in use lol. I'l probably break down everything but the boreas, TFV8, and pharaoh and put them away

Standard 24 AWG Kanthal coils will do you proud!

With proper care, they can last you up to 60 days.:vino:

Thanks all... I figured my wattage wouldn't cut it..
I almost went ahead and pulled the trigger on some 6 strand vertabraid... Glad i checked the thread first, never got notified of the responses...
I guess its regular ss then...

Almost missed this... Which clapton would you recommend then?

With 80 watts or less... I would say you can do claptons.. some 26/32 or 28 awg cored clapper should do good. They can be done well at that power. You will just be using the smaller wire versions and single coils. I wouldnt even try Fused over 26awg core.

Have you tried modeling some builds on Steam-engine.org..

You can use Claptons at 60-80W but just regular small ones like 26/32 or 28x2/32.
For the really big Claptons 80W is not enough.

With Claptons of any kind you won't save juice.

I have a spool of fused clapton SS316 wire. it's dual core 26ga with a 32g wrap. I do 3 wraps 3mmID single coil in my aeronaut (you can do up to 4 though) and at 65-75 watts it kicks ass.

I use fused 26ga core (2 core) with a 32Ga wrap SS316 and a single coil with 4 wraps gives huge flavor and clouds in my aeronaut at 65-75 watts. I have 2 mods that are 75 watts and 70 watts and thats the setup I use on them and it's amazing for the small size

The power you need with claptons is largely dependant on the thickness of the wrap wire. If your wrap wire is 32 AWG it will take more power to heat up those wraps because there is a lot of dead metal wrapped around the cores. If you get wraps of 46 AWG its hardly any different than the cores on their own except it will wick a bit better and diffuse better. With a single wire you want to be down around 12 gauges (i.e. 26 / 38) with fused you will be ok with 8 gauges (2x 26 / 34) to get decent performance. But you will have to turn the power up a bit from bare wire. When you go down a lot more (i.e. 2x26 / 40) you don't really need the power turned up at all.
