Today's Women of Marvel panel at Comic-Con was an energetic discussion of all the incredible contributions women have and will continue to make to the company's creative output. As if the announcement of several new comic lines was not exciting enough, the crowd roared when already announced panelists Content Development Director Sana Amanat, producer Judy Stephens, social media manager Adri Cowan, Marvel Live host Lorraine Cink, writer G. Willow Wilson, and costume designer Ann Foley were joined by three of the stars of Agents of SHIELD Chloe Bennet, Ming-Na Wen, and Elizabeth Henstridge.
The panel began with the announcement of this year's Cosplay Variant cover series, a continuation of last year's very popular series. Several covers were shown while panelists marveled (pardon the pun) at the fact that this fall will see Marvel publish 20 female-led comics including Captain Marvel, Kate Bishop's Hawkeye, The Mighty Thor (Jane Foster), and the All-New Wasp. Special note was also made of Moon Girl, who Amanat announced would soon become "the smartest person in the Marvel universe."
