I do want to say with all sincerity I don't want that to seem like bragging at all I try to be very humble about it. I am just so happy and you guys are the only ones I have to share it with, besides strangers. So no more from me about it and thanks for all the compliments.

I've wanted a mustang my entire life. So jelly!!! But I'd have a bright red one, with a tan ragtop. :D

Thanks! You'd love my Sister's besides the top it's black, but I really enjoy "test driving" it after doing the maintenance on it. Convertibles are a lot of fun on a beautiful day for sure.

Black anything on a vehicle is too hot; too bad too, because shiny black cars look awesome, but they're just too hot, and I reached that conclusion when I lived in fucking Michigan... here in GA??? gahhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's not too bad even here in Texas, hers is what I call race car red with grey interior/black top and wheels that look pretty much like mine. Her windows are tinted a lot darker than mine and it helps a ton.

I know you use flour, vodoo, then add a bunch of seafood and it becomes this delicious concoction. :D

Well I'm a great cook -- we're having that lemon-garlic salmon again tonight, with the garlic-mushroom brown rice risotto and whole wheat garlic bread -- but "roux" is nothing I'm familiar with. I'm southern, not french! I know "grits" very well! Sausage gravy! Pork chops! But no frenchy food, though that whole wheat bread is a baguette.

Sounds good! We're having steak with Marley's favorite sweet peas. :)

And I'm not French either but being less than an hour or so from the Louisiana border their cooking finds it's way over here a lot. And I love it!

I just LOVE being able to cook a great meal, the night before payday -- and last night, we had Domino's! Their new chicken-caesar salad is pretty good. But we spent so many years having to make-do, catch-as-catch-can, the night before payday, usually with the mate rolling pennies so he could get me one more pk of smokes to tide me over till we got the check cashed. Giving up those filthy cancer sticks has done more good to our budget than it has to my health! :giggle:

It's amazing what you can do in the kitchen with just what a few packs of smokes cost. I will say this for my ex-wife (I am trying to let go of a lot) she could take a few bucks and make a great meal for the kids and I. I was never much of a cook but since the big-d I have been trying to learn since then and found out I make a really good chili and pot roast. But I rarely make them because it makes enough for a few people and always have to throw some of it away.

I guess it depends where you buy your smokes. In NY it's about ~$12.50 a pack. So a few packs can cover something nice to be made at home, or blown on some Chinese delivery (my default choice if no one is looking).

Oh, my default color for cars is black. Only two ever in red. Although I got my daughter silver for TX so it reflects a tiny bit of the heat. Offered her white, but silver it was. Now it's more grey. Mostly because she only washes it once a year. I live up here but I'm the one who has to take it for oil changes/shocks/whatever when I'm down there because she just.............doesn't. She is definitely NOT a car person. For her it's pure utility for transportation. It breaks my heart.

WOW! Yeah for that I smoked 2 PAD so I could have a nice steak dinner at the best place in town almost. Here it was closer to $14.00 for two packs.

And yes it pained me to see what my ex did to her cars, she would hand it over demolished and I would try my best to fix it all. Then a week later it would look the same inside and out. I'm a car person by nature not just a my car person anytime I see a car in a parking lot beat up I think,'If I just had a few days with it."

ETA: I know for some folks it comes down to $$ to fix them not being available but I learned really fast a few bucks here and there to prevent is easier than $$$$ to fix broken.

Good deal you can do that kind of work. I like cars, and I do like to make believe I can tinker, but I'm stuck relying on people who know what they're doing to fix them. Never mind body work. I've learned and accepted my limitations.:)

Its weird when your on the innernet with people from other areas.

Here all guys drive trucks. And many of the gals too.

You can have a blue truck or a white truck or a Ford truck or a Chevy Truck or a two door truck or a four door truck but its always a truck.

Women lean towards SUV's mostly and they have the same color and brand options.

Guessing it has to do with four wheel drive and ground clearance. Without those two things your pretty much a shut in most of the year.

We have a Chevy Silverado. My mom thinks it's hysterical that I drive a truck, but hey, it raises me up so I can see, and I don't feel like I'm about to be squashed like a bug by some of those monster SUVs,. :D It's done my anxiety WORLDS of good!!!

Same truck I have. 4X with good sized tires and a ladder rack that makes it about 9 feet tall. Four door some 30 feet long.

Often driven by my 90 pound 5' daughter.

Anyone surprised seeing a small woman in a big truck ain't from Upstate NY.

Same here I can do a lot but into the engine block or drive train I get professionals, as well as body work unless it's just buffing out swirls and scratches. So far the most involved technical thing I have done is swapping an intake manifold or minor suspension work. But when I wanted new cams, axles, and differential gears I take it to a guy I know who does really good work. He let's me "assist" so I am learning but far from anything but a shade tree mechanic.

Oh trust me living in SE Texas I am surrounded by the truck folks though not out of necessity like up north. One thing I could never figure out though is their truck is geared for off road (8' to the roof or more) yet they slow down to 1 mph to go into a driveway with a 1" lip on it.

Ours is the Extended Cab version -- the doors in back open, but only from the inside. No 4x4 either; my husband has no use for it, it hogs gas, and our weather and terrain doesn't warrant it. But we have the long bed, he insisted on that. It does have some gi-normous tires, and bars to step up on, to get in. :) It's a much nicer vehicle than the plain work truck we had before; it rides almost as well as a car, instead of so much jouncing around.

or TX........I don't have one anymore, but I love havin a pick up! Was kinda intrigued a couple weeks ago when I saw a commercial for the Honda ridgeline.

lmao no kiddin! or says they can't haul nuttin in it, cuz it'll mess up the bed!

That would require that I was capable of making a roux, which I couldn't even spell properly without the help of google.
if you can use a whisk til yur arm falls off, you can make a roux! Oil......flour........heat and whisk 45 mins to an hour for a dk chocolate roux. It's done about a 1/2 second before it burns! hehehe

Well, before Lannie made this gumbo tonight, I would have sworn I had never eaten gumbo in my life. Now I know that would be a lie because after having eaten this dinner, I can say the roux (which I called thick gravy) was yummy and over rice, we have indeed eaten this before, but we called it "Lannie goo #37." See, she's a natural at kitchen chemistry and putting the right things together to make the taste she is seeking (she calls it "sniff and dump"). So she used Italian sausage before instead of this specialized Cajun stuff I brought home the other day. There might be a couple molecules difference, but to me it was the same thing. I didn't even know I liked Cajun food. :)

In the "good old days" (when I had an income), I had a 1967 Mustang, five Trans Ams and a plain-jane Firebird that I tricked out to look like a TA, and an arrest-me Red Porsche 944 (got that one up to 137 mph on a desert highway). Then we became farmers in South Dakota, a place that routinely gets 10-15 foot snow drifts and often mud that is over a foot deep in Spring and Fall. Today, this is my only "car."

You talking about me my friend??? :p Right now on my dash the engine light is on(O2 sensor) and the ABS light is on(left ABS sensor went when the alternator did) and I do not have the money to fix it. $125 for either of them or $250 total. I honestly do not have that extra money to get it fixed. Want to make a trip to NC? I'll cook! :teehee:

Here's ours... 2009 Silverado, in 2012 shortly after we bought it. But we don't have those Firestones anymore; we got some Yokohamas last year.

I added the same tube bar steps (nerfs?) that you have and some mud flaps front and back. I am not sure I have washed it in the 3+ years I have had it because if I wash it today, it will be dirty again tomorrow. :deadhorse:

I know for a fact that ours has not been washed since we've had it; it's currently wearing the scruff of 4 yrs of crepe myrtle sheddings. :giggle: But that color doesn't show dirt too much at all.

Yeah, the silver doesn't show the dirt much either, but the black on the lower part of the doors and those black tube steps show it pretty bad. My first Trans Am (1981 Smokey and the Bandit turbo-charged special edition) was midnight black and it had to be washed nearly every day, even if it never left the pavement.

Mine got washed yesterday. It sat out in the pouring rain at work. :teehee: The only time I seriously wash my vehicle is after it snows and they put salt on the roads. I run it through an automatic car wash then because it washes the underside and my red vehicle looks grey because of the salt.

That's good, it will also help protect the undercarriage from corrosion, from the salt. That shit is hell on the exhaust system.

Yup. That's the stuff. I searched through about 40 different sausages until I found that stuff. Says right on the package that it is spicy and intended for gumbo.
Loved that car!!
So did Lannie. :D I reckon that's why her "picker" alarm went off. Me? Hell, no! It was the car.

That baby would fly!!!
The TA I had that really flew was a 1976 with 455 HO V8 (rump rump R O A R!). I never got it to top speed, so I don't know if it was actually faster than my Porsche 944, but it was quicker. I mean, with equal drivers, the 455 HO would have left the Porsche in the dust. The factory color was called Firethorn Red, but it was very faded when I got it, so I repainted it and did gold pinstripes all over just like the black special edition one.
I'm bettin she'd a picked you if you'd been drivin a gremlin!
Oddly enough, I had two of those as well. I can't say if she'd have even noticed me in those cars... and maybe it wasn't the black Trans Am so much as the black jacket I wore at the parade where we met -- I airbrushed a gold turbo screaming fire chicken on the back of it and was wearing a black cowboy hat.... kinda stood out in the crowd (besides, she was married to a real short dork at the time). :blech:

No lie!! I have first hand experience with salt and corrosion. When my daughter turned 16 she got her first job and us sharing a car or me taking her to work didn't work out. So I went on Craigslist and bought her a 94 Chevy Cavalier 4 door. The guy was really nice, told me the engine and tranny was in excellent shape. I drove down, looked at and drove the car. He told me it needed a left side wheel bearing and agreed to knock some off the price. So I bought it. Laura and I drove down to pick it up and I drove it back home. A good friend of mine said he'd do any work to the car, all I had to pay for was the parts. I had to replace EVERYTHING!! The whole wheel assembly was corroded. The guy bought the car brand new but was from upstate NY where they have LOTS of salt on the roads. I had to replace the whole exhaust system and it had to be welded to the manifold. After driving it for over a year, she saved her money and bought something newer so I sold her car for the engine and tranny. The guy who bought said I was damned lucky because the whole undercarriage was almost rusted out and was so bad that had she had a collision either front or back, the bolts holding the seat down would have broken off and she would have flown through the windshield.

Yipes!! Someone wuz watchin out for her!!

well folks.....I feel so incredibly blessed. I have had a truly wonderful day, and it has been a long time since I've had a really good day so I am just on cloud 9. But the adrenaline is wearing off now, so I'm gonna go and just veg out in front of the TV.

Love y'all bunches, and hope tomorrow is a truly spectacular day for all y'all!! sweet dreams when y'all get there!

Here's the rear of mine. I took this picture after I had the exbf's raggedy ass car that wouldn't run towed out of the car port. I took the picture to show where my car had belonged the whole time. My daughter then parked her car beside mine. Lol
