I'm a "based on reviews of others" kinda person. If the price was right, and others were happy with it, sure, why not. As long as I go into it knowing what I'm buying. I own clone tanks and drippers, clone mechs, too.

i have a petri v2 rda clone that was $15 shipped form an US seller. instead of what $80 is for an authentic.... its an rda not a nuclear weapon
i have a xohm dimebox mod which is not a clone technically, but its basically someone else's version of the yet to be released authentic hexohm v3
got it for $50 new and shipped off a US seller versus about $150 for a hexohm v2
now if someone cloned a kanger subtank....no point price difference would have to be major...and i would actually have to use a KST which I havent in over a year
how about a clone of the IPV5..once again NOPE..I got mine for $29 shipped new. IPV has a good rep and this is my 3rd IPV product. so Id spend $30 on the authentic versus even $15 for a clone.
how about a girffin clone...nope can get real ones for under 20 shipped most days. and i know i can get spare parts for the authentic. clone parts may not interchange or be available

so it depends, but clones are fine with me

Voted maybe, as depends on price and reviews of the clone, the clones I normally buy are to things I can not afford the authentic, I just can't put $100+ on s topper that I will probably won't be using 6 months down the road, but if only $20-$40, then would not go the clone route.

If it's a 1:1 clone with good build quality, yes especially if it's a clone of some high end gear.

Yes, I own a clone velocity v2, petri v2, and a Calabas mech clone. The velocity and petri clones are very good quality and I can't get myself to pay close to 100 bucks for an authentic of either. Most I paid for a authentic atty was 65 for my black goon and 50 for my copper goon.

i often buy clones and treat them as demos. i got two goon clones before i got an authentic. i got a nopity clone and i dont like it enough to buy a real one. i grabbed an anubis box clone and i like it enough that i will seek out an authentic (hopefully used, but i wont be too sad if i have to pay full price for a new one).

i recently got an authentic petri v2, but i also grabbed the clone with the cloud cap, brass top and chuff cap/drip tip because it was ten bucks and that cloud cap is thirty by itself from dotmod. it turns out i dont like the cloud cap that much, or the chuff cap. im glad i bought an authentic petri v2, but im also glad i didnt buy authentic accessories. im all about supporting companies i like/love, but im not a sucker, nor am i rich enough to feel good about buying a cloud cap for thirty bucks and then not ever using it again. this way, instead of wasting money and feeling dumb, i can give the spare stuff away, make someones day, and learn that i prefer the stock airflow and drip tip, for only ten bucks.

:tldr:buying clones is often a good idea

8$ for a perfect velocity clone or 100+ Dollars for authentic..... It's not a question of if I would because I do however the real question is why I do....

I'd never be able to afford a authentic Velocity, clones allow me to give them a try, however for Authentics that aren't so overpriced 20-30$ I'll still buy the 10$ clone, give it a try and see if I like it and if I do I'll purchase the authentic and keep the clone as a backup...

Authentic if you can, clone if you must. I don't fault anyone for choosing either one. I own both. Have great clones and lousy authentics and vice versa. Whatever works.

Yep agree, same with me. What I cannot make sense of is someone buying a Clone for $20 when the authentic is $29. That is ridiculous

really, I mean I can understand it if the atty cost 180.00 and they only made 200 of them, but a clone of a 30.00 chinomizer is just silly...

Well no, not to someone who can't spend the 30. Sure if there's a $25 clone, why not buy authentic, but not everyone can afford to blow even $30 on an atty. Times are tough. I'd rather see people clone shopping than smoking.
$5?
No that's ridiculous.

But hey, to each their own.

Add me to the "hell yes!" category. Though, I wouldnt buy a regulated mod clone. Probably.

I'm even the blasphemer who will buy a clone of a $30 atomizer (hide your children!). Given that many cost $5-$10, I can get 3-6 atomizers for the same price as one.

Not only have I bought horrible quality authentics, I like being able to demo a tank. The cost of a clone is generally less than the loss of reselling an authentic.

I have brought my first clone recently, because l could not find an authentic (sold out). Normally prefer to by the orignally, but clones are here to stay that's for sure.

If it's a 1/10 priced clone of an expensive atty then yes.
If it's a 2/3 priced clone of a Chinese atty then no.

I buy clones BECAUSE they are less expensive than the originals.

Would I prefer to buy USA made only sure. But after 100 years of Liberal and progressive trade law and 40 of The EPA .. I have been priced OUT of that market. If not for the evil Chinese I would be naked and still smoking.

No I have no real problem with China.... They are after-all just responding to our demands and filling the holes our Governments have dug.

As somebody on a tight budget, who can really only afford so much at a time, I am all about clones. As long as it is good quality, I am not afraid to purchase and openly use it. And I have no shame in admitting it is a clone. I am seeking out some authentics that I like, but only as I find them at a price point I can work with(ie Used)

When I go shopping for anything I need, vaping or not.. I shop for the Items I want, at the prices, I want to pay. Usually, I try to pay the least I can to get those desired products.

I am also skeptical of buying stuff used....... IMO, there are 4 reasons people sell stuff, It's worn out, It didn't work, they need/want money, they have too much crap. Two of them being reasons NOT to buy something.

not at all alot of people buy stuff they want to try and find out it doesn't produce the kind of vape they want....I've owned dozens of attys at one time or another out of all of them there are only two of them I keep in constant rotation....Hell I've given away attys I know I will never vape again...
