yihi sx mini ml class?

So as a newbie... I purchased what I wanted, realized in a week that wasn't going to cut it. Trash. Moved to subtanks mini cloupor. Awesome. Sold those for pennies or trash to move to TC. Have 2 new D2s which are already stranded... But do all I want. Except now that I'm in TC... I want SS. I can use this for 6 months and be fine... But what is next step?

Does/will the 350j-v1 do SS?

V1 and V2 does SS, but V2 has software interface firmware upgrade. V1 may not get that. Is that correct?

I'm good going with Yihi. So I might get a CM SX. But at least for the foreseeable future that will be V1 350. But I can put in SS TCR and use same SS coil in TC or power mode correct?

Shit. The one thing I would change on my M class is the threads for the battery cap. NOW they pull their heads out of their ass and put a course thread that will turn in easily and not take 50 twists to tighten?????
EDIT: this actually pisses me off more then the chip change lol.

A little let down if they don't offer an upgraded firmware for the M. My M screen went black 1.5 months into owning it, shit happens. Took them 3 weeks to get a replacement to me and the one I got had the cap cross threaded right out of the box.
Over time the threads have cleaned up so its not too bad, not bad enough for me to wait another 3 weeks. For a fantastic chip and vape experience, I am a little let down with yihi as a whole.

If the M becomes an obsolete "upgradable" chip, thats the last yihi product I'm buying.
I get it, new stuff to sell more stuff. If you keep up with the dna, you will continue to sell stuff. Why not give an update for the M? To get M buyers like me to give them money 6 months later... not working on me. If that is the case, I will not be sucked into buying another "upgradable" yihi chip or device.

The v1 doesn't have ss, I've read on places that they will upgrade it; and, I've ask read that they won't. Either way, I'm not buying anything else yihi till they figure I out. And I'm passing on the ML CLASS

Well right now SS seems to be the hot thing for TC. I like small, and plenty small ones just came out. My D2 meets my needs fine. Be even better if Uwell put out Ti coils... But they already do SS, so they might just skip it.

All huge flagship boxes seem to be going SS. I'm looking at whiteout OS. I guess I'll just have to wait for a small single TC box that will do SS. I'm not sure I can wait 3 months. LOL

Other than TC itself, nothing is much different. Wires are are what isn't settled. If SS wins that one, I would imagine these fast TC chip releases/upgrades will settle down. But I certainly get the frustration of recent customers if Yihi does not do firmware update.

I looked at the dimensions next to my D2. 4.5 inches tall doesn't really qualify for mini for me. Just because other mods are big as a brick, doesn't make this small.

It's cool, no defined size limit. It's subjective. I had a Cloupor mini. The iLeafs are mini. The D2 is mini. I pocket carry. I don't need another cell phone to carry around. I suppose I could get a belt clip. :)

A single 18650 is small and portable. I will stick to my "tablet". At some point I might get me a "desktop" model.:)

Correct... I was looking at something else. Still breaking out of the category for me. Looks beautiful. Features alone are good. But anything I want going for size... wood isn't going to give it. If that same mod was in a metal box, that would be good. But ya.. that wasn't their point. Really cool mod and not huge. But I will keep waiting...

Can you post how you programmed it for ss? Thanks!
There is a tutorial on eviolv'website.,...
There are two ways to change the tcr on the dna200 in ascribe(nice if yihi did this)
One.
You select custom wire in the profile you wanna use.
Download the curve you want (ss316l) as a .csv file from steamengine.org
Select the option to upload the .csv curve in the profile you want (in ascribe)
Upload the file and save that
Two
If you know the integer for the curve you can select that and change the tcr I used 0.001 for tcr.

The integer method is not as accurate as uploading the .CSV file

Man, this is still bugging me. I actually wouldn't mind getting a white out. I could do the DNA, but want 18650 which I would have to change. Hope Yihi upgrades the V1 to SS and I would be set. Done. It would suck if I had to get a V2 when Yihi releases it. At worst maybe they would have their OS out by then and maybe I would go that route. I talked to CMT and they said the initial OS release would not have TC. Not sure when the moders would get around to it.

First world problems I suppose.

Hi @returnity !

Is it safe to assume you are from the company? If that post is remotely true, then at least there is some contingency planning going on regarding the announcement.

Have a good one!

--Dev
I can confirm for you that returnity is part of the cloud maker company. Just thought I'd share that as he and all the other team members are very very busy with the whiteout and may be a little before he can get time to check in and answer.

I haven't been doing much reading here lately but I decided to catch up on this thread.

It's pretty interesting that almost everyone was taking Yihi to task for making them move to a new mod since they were weren't going to let users update the current one.

But, as we all know by now Yihi did release an update for the SX Mini M V1 and it pretty much contains the new features announced for the ML class other than the computer connection.

I don't consider myself a fanboy but I have always thought positively of Yihi just for the quality of their product and their willingness to stand behind it. This latest release only serves to strengthen that feeling. I'm not sure why so many people assumed the worst.

Yes, I also have a couple of DNA200s, and it's a damn good chip. If I'm in hobby mode it's fun to play around in escribe and tweak things. But when I'm in ex-smoker mode I'm still finding myself picking up the SX Mini just because it works without any additional effort.

I think a lot of us if not all would have been pissed if they didn't offer the update.
They did, kudos to yihi, they did the right thing.

If/when I buy another mod it will be the ML but in a aftermarket enclosure. Not sure what, it may not exist yet but I'd like to see a mini box using a smaller 3s lipo with the ML chip in it.

Size close to a mini single 18650 mod with the battery life of a two cell oversized mod... that may get me to reach for my wallet again :D

But buying another mod because my M can't be upgraded to run the newer wires, what's in my wallet wouldn't have been going to yihi again ;)

While it's entirely possible that a lot of online discussion changed Yihi's stance, I really believe they intended to do it all along. Considering that the update only took a couple of weeks I would think that the changes were intended to be compatible with the V1 from the beginning.

Think about it; if you're coming up with a brand new board and components, wouldn't that be the time to start from a clean slate? From the little I know about software and firmware updates it seems to me that they intended to provide the update from day 1.

If Yihi did get schooled by so many negative comments, it's really hard for me to believe that they changed course and got the changes handled in just a few weeks.

Maybe they did intend to do it from day 1, maybe they didn't. I would think the ML announcement would have been accompanied by an announcement that the M class was also getting more wire choices if they were planning on it. Maybe they were weighing the impact of not releasing it, saw the backlash and decided to release it? Who knows.

Maybe it wasn't top of their list of things to announce? There are beta testers in the 350j thread that I'm sure were using the new M firmware for weeks if not months so as it turns out the M upgrade was most likely in the works for a while.

In the end though, I don't care what the motivation was to offer the update... I'm rocking SS wire on TC in my M now :D

Not a 350 chip though, maybe that's not possible?
Old 350 got what the new 350 gets... but could the old 330(that's what's in the 3li?) get what the new 350 has?
Hardware might be the wall to climb on that, not willingness.

Guess we'll see.

Not sure where I saw it, but they are supposed to be coming out with the IPV5 using the 340 chip. Have no idea the specs on this one. Anybody with more info?

There were some testing the 2.32 firmware with Manual TCR while others were stating that Yihi had discontinued updates to the SXmini M and there would be no support for alternative wires. "They were talking out the back side" The update had nothing to do with the "Squeaky Wheel" or of those neysayers. While there are some limitations to hardware thankfully they were able to implement it on the SX350J boards.

Now if someone could help me update the firmware on my old 286 12Mhz motherboard to support a I7 at 3Ghz or so I'd really be tickled.

Anyone have a list of TRC values for the various types of stainless steel wire that we have available to us. Also any suggestions of recommend types and where to buy it from.

Was going to wait for the q class, but pulled trigger on ML from vapedojo few days ago for 99.99, deal I could not pass up. Hope it shows up tomorrow. Yes aware most likely voids warranty. Very excited about this as never owned a sxmini. Was going to wait as one battery and 75w is a little weak. Will easily cover daily setup, uncertain on battery life.

Guess justified as VTC is near end of life with loose 510.lol. Probably will fix it. Don't see much talk of the sxmini anymore, guess either under powered or hoping that just working without issues for everyone.

Got to quit buying stuff haha, just ordered vcmt black, Griffin, just got the Mutank and Reaper Plus. Almost ordered another cuboid from vapenw at 36, saw the stainless and must say regret buying the black.

Anyway looking forward to finally getting sxmini

I've had the ML for probably a little over a week now and it's been working great for me, very similar to the M class just a little nicer in functionality, design and features IMO. I'm anxiously awaiting the SX Pure atty release http://www.yihisxmini.com/SX-Pure-a-new-Atomizer-Technology-from-YiHi-n252.html as there's already a SX-Pure mode on the ML. Those that build large coils that take a lot of power can benefit from the 100 Watt Preheat with the SXI-Q curves. But for sure if you vape at the higher power settings your not going to get a lot of run time from a single 18650 on any mod, just depends on if you want / need a dual battery or larger device. I'm on Ni200 usually around .09Ω and 23J - 30J so I probably get about a day use out of it.

Someone posted a response from vapedojo regarding warranty and they replied they have a 30 day doa but Yihi would honor the manufacturer warranty.. Personally I'd be hesitant in believing that though unless it came directly from the manufacturer.

And yea there seems to be less and less posting going on with these mods and in general less active forum participation overall. There's a couple active threads on ECF for the M and ML class but I think folks are happy and content so don't have a need.

Very cool to hear, just received today and really like the feel and weight. Menus are very different than what I am used to, looks like will need to do some reading. Think it will be great, I usually allow more power than needed, so dual TC build not going to take too much. Sometimes build something crazy but all well.

Saw that mentioned on yihi site, not looked at what it is yet, think motivated to check out.

Tomorrow, will figure out Win 10 and drivers.

I'm having bitch of time getting temp control working. Anything in Jules mode gets no juice/dry error though works every other mod. Tried tricks, latest firmware and few older firmware versions. Same, put in ticker for rma still hoping something I'm missing. Works fine in power mode, so connection fine.

Are you locking the resistance in TC? I'm only asking because after using DNA200 mods it's something I've gotten used to no longer having to do.

Cheers,

I don't recall or think that there is option for this. Main devices are dna 200 's. The ml, has somewhat similar computer interface. Should not need to lock in when first using either way. Good thought will verify tcr values, had all the types but never looked that tcr was correct.

If I remember my Yihi chips correctly, you press the up and down button at the same time to lock the resistance while the atty is at room temperature. Once you do that, your problem should be solved. You only have to do it once. That is until you change attys or build a new coil.

^^^^ what he said
before you fire it or anything.. screw on the atty have it in tc mode for whatever coil and hold down '+' AND '-' AT THE SAME TIME.
itll take a few seconds but you'll see the Resistance pop up

You are correct. I'd also suggest AdubbaU read the manual once over, there's another setting for Compensate temp that needs set after locking the resistance.

Appreciate the feedback / advice, will check it out. In other yihi chip devices, know it was an option to lock, but would fire and not error on first hit. Also concerned that the tank seems to wobble until firmly all the way down. Have the rma to send back and replace, even if figure out concerned about the 510. Tomorrow will tell, with this device banging head as I suspect something on my end. Don't really hear of issues on sx series often.

Well kind of hard to admit public, it seems issues might have been related to adjusting resistance. Unsure how this would be case still. Closest device to this one is the D2, still have it but broken and only fires out 75w. I would lock in resistance, but it was never required. I would think on the sx that few reboots firmware updates it would reset resistance. Anyway working very well, just seems strange to need to manually adjust. Going to hold out a few days, may still replace/rma since 510 seems much looser than other mods, not to the frame just the tank. Is snug when tank is down all the way. Anyway great device, DNA is still favorite due to simplicity. I find with dna that I never need to adjust my 8 profiles, so scroll through and fire button are only menus I use. Could get there on the SX, still learning maybe. But vape quality very high on this and I do like the quick power profile adjustments.

Side note, looks like they accidentally posted 0.205 firmware upto 150w and removed. Anyone download and can pm me link? Yes I now all safety issues, would never push that without 2nd battery. Still want it .

Thank you all for your advice. Also found that tcr seemed to be off, for example setup profile select wire type and expected tcr to adjust but did not. Anyway was not cause of initial issue. New learning curve.

Note 2 lol, Received silicone sleve Monday, will continue to use but the naked device felt so much better. With VS, no real noticeable change.

I think the 2.205 was for the SX350J-V2 boards only not the ML class. What I've read was it was for internal testing up to 200W and wasn't supposed to be released.

Well if Yihi stays with their trend of releasing a product then giving value add after sales support via firmware updates, e.g.. for me it was first the SX350 30W that they upgraded to 60W, then the SXmini M that came out at 60/120W then upgraded to 75/150W maybe the SX350J-V2 / ML will be 150W then get an upgrade to 200W later on. Maybe Q will get an additional battery pack accessory to turn it into a battle axe and go from 200W up to 300W. :)
