It's not like it's HARD to wick, but it needs to be tighter than you might at first intuitively think,Very true. My first wicking was a little loose, and it leaked a tiny bit while laying on it's side. Since the rewick, not a single problem
It is a bit finicky with it's wicking ,but if I can get it, I know you can get it. I haven't had any issue with dry hits at all, though I did have some gurgly spitback at first.First time I wicked it, it flooded. Set it aside for a week. Rewicked it last night and every time I fill it with juice, it floods bad. I tipped it upside down at work today and a ton of juice came pouring out. Then after that I get dry hits.
The chimney kinda squishes my wick flat, causing it to choke right at the edge of the coilIt is a bit finicky with it's wicking ,but if I can get it, I know you can get it. I haven't had any issue with dry hits at all, though I did have some gurgly spitback at first.
You're getting dry hits like that? The chimney kinda squishes my wick flat, causing it to choke right at the edge of the coil

Yeah the inside of the tails are dry and if I was vaping it, it would be dry on the edge of the coils too. You're getting dry hits like that?
I'm not immediately seeing the difference between my build and yours. I don't get it.Yeah the inside of the tails are dry and if I was vaping it, it would be dry on the edge of the coils too.
As far as I can see your build has a thicker elbow of cotton on each side of the coils which allows for better juice flow to the coils. Looking good!I'm not immediately seeing the difference between my build and yours. I don't get it.
Let me guess, not getting bubbles either? The chimney kinda squishes my wick flat, causing it to choke right at the edge of the coil

Yeah made me think my coils are longer but it doesn't look like itAs far as I can see your build has a thicker elbow of cotton on each side of the coils which allows for better juice flow to the coils. Looking good!
A little. The first hit after sitting for a while is good but after that it's dryLet me guess, not getting bubbles either?

If I had to guess I'd say you are fighting vapor lock, which is a bitch. I went through this with my Zeus single coil and OBS engine nano rtas. The wicking for top airflow rtas is fickle.A little. The first hit after sitting for a while is good but after that it's dry

Thank you sir! I'll try again maybe tomorrow night. If I had to guess I'd say you are fighting vapor lock, which is a bitch. I went through this with my Zeus single coil and OBS engine nano rtas. The wicking for top airflow rtas is fickle.
What helped me was after I pulled the cotton through the coil I would gently pull the ends of each side of the cotton with my thumb and index finger to thin them out which helped with juice flow and still allowed air bubbles to escape to the top of the tank. Then I would cut the tails to length and tuck them into the wicking channels. It takes some practice to find the sweet spot between flooding and dry hitting but worth it when you find that spot.
Oh yeah, another thing I do is never fill the tank all the way on a fresh build. I fill about 3/4 of the way to help fight the vapor lock until the cotton has broken in.
Hope this helps brother!
Awesome, hope it helps.Thank you sir! I'll try again maybe tomorrow night.

Yes, I also learned that along the way. In fact I go with more like a half tank until I see how it's going to behave.Oh yeah, another thing I do is never fill the tank all the way on a fresh build.
I would say whatever you're doing it's working for you. Seriously dude, next time you rewick you should post pics of how you do it. I think it would be a tremendous help for those that are struggling.Yes, I also learned that along the way. In fact I go with more like a half tank until I see how it's going to behave.
I certainly am not claiming any exalted expertise here, but I can only say that this is my second wicking in this tank and it's running great. I get bubbles almost the size of a pencil eraser with every pull and no leaking at all. For the record ,there's a sizable contingent of new Zeus X owners over at Reddit who are having flooding and spitback challenges as well. I must have just stumbled over the right way to do it. Or A right way.
Oh oops. I didn't see this beforeYeah made me think my coils are longer but it doesn't look like it
Check all the contact points for slight burrs, it happens occasionally. My guess is that changing your wicking did not fix your issue. I bought 2 Zeus x’s. One of them wicks and vapes very well, the other floods no matter what. I’ve changed every oring, tried both types of glass, no difference...there’s something structurally wrong with it. I can literally empty the tank simply by turning it upside down. There’s no vacuum pressure. One thing to double check is that your fill ports are aligned with the top of the tank; I.e. the female part that the cap screws on to. I believe my issue is with that piece, which seems to be press fitted onto the outer chimney and can turn so that it’s out of alignment. While messsing with my defective Zeus, that top just popped off so I’m wondering if that is where the vacuum is failing. If your issue is different and already resolved just ignore this.
I am a big fan of the Zues line, I just got my Zues X two days ago and, imo, it's hands down the best one! I loved it so much I ordered another one already! After seeing a few board members ( gsmit1 and I think VapeFan) mention the Zeus X I thought I'd look into for myself. I am a big fan of the single coil Zeus ( easily my favorite TAF rta ) but did not try the dual coil version so this short stocky lil guy peaked my interest. Especially since I've recently gotten into dual coil postless deck rtas.

I was going to download some images but my tablet is getting full. :
Anyway. Thought it would be fun to discuss the Zeus X and post video reviews as they come out.
@gsmit1 sorry for summoning you but I had seen you ordered one and that inspired me to make this. So, your thoughts good sir?
Not your cup o tea?I'm thinking about selling mine.
I'm tired of messing with it. Havent got it to wick right one time yet.Not your cup o tea?
Yeah my bad. I was just scrolling back through the thread and remembered you're having a problem wicking it.I'm tired of messing with it. Havent got it to wick right one time yet.
I think my coils are too big. I only use one type of coil and I don't want to spend money experimenting with other coils.
