@AndriaD If he doesn't care for stock coils why not get him a rta? Sounds like he just wants something he blow a few clouds with on occasion or dtl for lung satisfaction.

Well, I'm not really sure what RTAs would suit him, that would be a vape comparable to the STM. He's like me, doesn't really give a rip about clouds, but he prefers less TH and more "fullbodied-ness" from his vape, so his clouds are a bit more than mine, but not really excessive; he vapes around 20w, maybe up to about 25w. He does like the MtL style, but a very airy version; he was a Camel fullflavor smoker, and those had a really easy draw, and almost no TH at all (that was my opinion anyway, compared to Virginia Slims!). He sees no point whatsoever to vaping DtL -- he's tried it, and like me, nearly collapsed with a coughing fit -- he doesn't have asthma, but has suffered a lot with asthmatic bronchitis most of his life.

Andria

ETA: he enjoys the STM, using the RBA deck, a lot; he's also very fond of the Magma Reborn, but uses it only at home, so he doesn't have to deal with dripping while he's out and about.

Wound up another 18" or so of fused clapton. Got a little over zealous with the wrap tension and snapped the nichrome a couple times but easy enough to fix. Found if I separated the cores and poked the wrap through where it broke I could start spinning it up again without losing much. Clipped off the borked parts and got a new coil in my ammit rta.

Definitely needed it, got 3mo out of the last one. Tried a basic 9 or 10 wrap coil using 26ga ss316 in there and just didn't work. Was just temporary so I'd have something to vape on while winding up the new stuff. Not enough vapor or flavor so I kept inching up the power, then got a burnt hit. Bleh. Took a nice long hit off the new clapton and it was one of those zen moments where everything was right again for a moment. lol

I know my Engine Nano can be dialed in to a restricted draw and have chatted with a few mtl vapers that use it as such.

Is that called the "OBS Engine"? I can't really keep up with all the new hardware, especially since pretty much none of it would suit ME. :D

Ok, I found the OBS Engine Nano at Fasttech! So I ordered that, along with a few drip tips and an RBA head for the STM, which also fits the Kanger Top Tank (or so Cromwell says!) which Central Vapors has for $7.99, so I think I'll order that tank too.

And have given my son instructions that he is NOT to open any pkgs that arrive because those are for XMAS!!! :D

Bought some cheap rolling drawers and reorganized all my vape stuff from multiple boxes all into one place.

And waiting for vape mail.

Also ordered some squonk bottles from Fasttech, ordered 4 VTC5a'a from IMR Batteries and since they are in Houston they'll be here tomorrow, and stopped into my fave B&M shop to BS and make my contribution of buying some Strawberry Killer Kustard. Busy vape day for me.

Andria, I use RTAs at 20 - 23 watts doing restricted lung hits all the time. I use all PG juice and very low nic. My favorite tank is the Rose V3 clone from FT. The SXK that I linked to is what I've got. It's temporarily sold out, but they have other choices of the attty. It has great flavor and is easy for me to get some TH with which considering my low nic means it's capable of good TH :). It takes 3 ml of juice with the plastic tank sleeve and 4 with the metal sleeve. It has been very dependable for me, easy to wick so it works and doesn't leak. It has a juice flow control that works very well and can be closed down so there is no chance of a leak. The air flow can be adjusted all the way down to almost a real MTL draw but when it's too low it starts to whistle a bit. Wide open it's what I consider a mildly restricted LH. This is what I take to work on a Pico 75 and keep in my pocket all day. I dropped it on the DT on a cement floor once and the only damage was a nick on the DT.

My second favorite is a Taifun GT 3 clone. It has slightly better flavor with my juices (or maybe it's just a little different) and it's a bit taller. Capacity is 5 ml and there is no metal tank option that I know of. I got mine from Gearbest but they don't have it anymore and neither does FT. I found one at 3F Vape. That one isn't the same as mine, but it's the only one I found just now. It's also easy to set up and doesn't leak and it also has a easy to use juice flow control that can be totally shut off. The air flow on this can be reduced to a real MTL draw without whistling and it goes up to a restricted lung draw, less than the Rose will do. I think if this tank had a full metal tank option and was a bit smaller I would consider it a tie for my favorite tank. I've got simple 28 gauge Kanthal or SS coils in them done on either 2.7 or 3mm pins. Both are single coil atties.

ETA: Saw you already got the OBS Engine Nano for him. Hope he likes it :)

Yes, and a Kanger Top Tank, which says it's the "new version of the STM" -- which he loves. Also ordered a STM RBA head to go with that, since it doesn't come with an RBA head.

Probably will also get some more batteries, as gifts both for him and myself; the 2 pairs he uses regularly are at least a year old, and one pair of them is probably closer to 18 months, so they may start decreasing in battery life pretty soon. All the others in regular use, other than a pair of 30Q's I got just a month or so ago, are about the same age, 12-18 months, so it would be a good idea to get at least 3-4 new pairs.

i'd like a new mod for xmas, maybe a dual battery, or maybe an Aegis; need a fatter mod for the Berserker to ride on. :)

I've been experimenting with coil builds for the Death Trap for about a week now.
Today I hit pay dirt!
Parallel build with 2 different Alien Clapton wire.
1 32g + 0.3*0.8 flat
1 26g + 32g
6/7 wrap 3.5 I'd
0.43 ohms
Incredible flavor and a cloud beast!

Since the parallel build on the Death Trap worked out so well I decided to try it on a smaller scale.

Got a Taifun GS today. Put my first wick through the holes and it ran dry. On my second setup now, with cotton just stuffed under the holes and it's been great so far. Nice flavor and TH as you would expect from a tiny air chamber. I think it still needs more experimentation, but so far so good.

I usually just make mixes specific to bottle size. I weigh everything else on the scale and top it of with VG. I got sick of measuring it.
Same here. but I measure my flavorings and nic by volume for 120 ml batches.
Measure in the flavorings and such then fill to the bottle shoulder with my 60/40 PG/VG mix out of a condiment bottle.

I use a 1 liter bottle to mix my PG/VG. Measured it once and put lines on the outside of the bottle.
Now just pour it in to the lines. Off a couple of % on the PG/VG mix? Can't tell any difference :)
Refill my condiment bottle from the 1 liter bottles.

I rewicked my Mesh RDA for my Inbox. I really like it a lot but learning how much wick to pack into it has been a good bit of trial and error.

I also coiled and wicked my Sentinel clone for the first time. Using a premade clapton in it on my Pico Squeeze. I gotta say, for a clone, it's very well made as far as I can tell. The machining on it is well done, no sharp or funky edges or anything. As much as I like my Wasp, I'm liking the Sentinel even more. The Wasp is a little airy for me even with the holes almost completely closed. The Sentinel is a tighter draw that I like.

You might like an Odis atty clone. A bit too tight to be a fav of mine.

Received my new Sony 18650's from IMR batteries today as well as my 2nd HCigar VT133 I bought on the Trading Post. The VT133 isn't as beat up as my other one so It looks nicer. Switched out covers on my VT133's. I got my wife to stop by a vape shop on her way home from San Antonio for a pack of Cotton Bacon.

Was sitting in a directors meeting today when suddenly I realized that the noise I was hearing was my vape going off in my pocket. It went off for a good 10 seconds before I was able to shut it off. Then someone said, "Why does it smell like strawberries in here all of a sudden?" Oops!

Cleaned and rewicked a few tanks tonight. The Taifun GT bit me twice (OK, so I messed up, but 'bit me' is my story and I'm sticking to it for now) :wait:

That puppy is snarly in that if you don't tighten up the right combination of parts and leave some other parts fairly loose it can leak really quick. Leak like empty all of the damn tank onto my workbench ... (twice)

OK, it's fixed and I feel better now :)
