I agree that not having a sense of smell would be a blessing in many cases -- in fact that's the only aspect of quitting smoking I dislike -- I had a sense of smell like a beagle already, now it's more like a bionic bloodhound. But... the sense of smell is one of the early-warning senses, a passive sense that operates even in your sleep, like hearing -- that was what woke me when our mobile home was about 2mm from going up in flames, the smell of the wiring melting against the 2x4 -- 2mm further and it would have been into the thin paneling and that would have been that for that mobile home, and probably for both me and my son.

With several jobs not having a sense of smell can be a blessing.

Yep, water sanitation being one. Waste management another job not requiring sense of smell for the most part. I mean I'm sure it would be ken to smell a corpse per say if it were tossed out in the garbage, yet better off to not smell the garbage itself.

I've also looked into such positions. Turns out water sanitation does require a sense of smell for the chlorine, methane gasses and sensing them in the water. Had someone discussing me coming into a plant and him training me, until, well "gee got no nose? Sorry, job needs a nose." There is no real 'accommodation' to aid for the type of work it runs being.

Keep hoping to see a driver's helper position open here local for Waste Management (LTD). They continually need drivers though and no helper spots come open. Most often they let the 'helper' work fall into the driver's job as well. Yes, the guys who ride on the back of garbage trucks have an actual job title. *chuckles* Sanitation driver's helper is what they are titled.

Have also applied for various janitorial positions. Trouble with those is again they are not really open near long enough. Usually there's a line of two hundred others waiting for these jobs.

These are the types of work that it's recommended I'm 'suited' to do. Got aspects of antisocial personality disorder, gee you think? And the anxiety, depression lend to me not exactly being a good large team person. Big groups of people scare me. A couple of folks that go on and do their bit, check in you every so often and offer a little help, ... I'm alright. So, that's what I've been 'steered' into. That's not saying I'm not a 'team player' but rather one that can eat his bite of the larger elephant to contribute.

For that kind of work not being available is frustrating beyond anything reasonable. I feel like :headbang: constantly over it. Though it is something beyond my control. I get told to not beat my head in over it since it isn't in my control. Yet at the same time it still makes me feel useless, devalued, and in general politely stating it like poop.

Sure, I know better, I know I'm not useless. Still knowing it and seeing, feeling it applied are different than the knowing. It's difficult to not 'get down' over it. So far I've been managing. But you know, managing and not having the problem are two different things all together. I cannot seem to effect the root causes, again, beyond my control.

Can accept it, but doesn't mean I need to like it. Still what is will be regardless. Bah, need to quit thinking on it.

We've three hard wired in smoke alarms upstairs here, hallway, bedroom 1, bedroom 2. Downstairs we've I think just 1 hardwired in detector in the main entry hall, covering kitchen, living room and hall. If one of the alarms go off, the others do as well. Wife's found that out a few times in her cooking ventures. :) She forgets to turn the range hood fan on.

I've never smelt a rose or fart. Now granted ammonia and other various things 'tickle' the back of my throat at times. But that to me isn't smelling something.

So far my wife and critter kids keep me well minded. :)

My girlfriends sense of smell is the only thing that woke us up to let us know our building was on fire, back in September. Managed to get us and our gecko outside and 911 called before it got out of control. I would've just slept til the flames got there probably...

I think about the worst is soured milk. Got a drink of it once before anyone had a chance to tell me it had gone bad. Of course you look at the dates but usually think you might have a day or two after that. Found out otherwise in that case.

Good morning fugees  I haven't been here in a couple of days so I hope everyone is well.
My seat belt pain morphed into inflamed nerves in my back and neck so work has been rough since I went back on Monday. I finally had to go to my PCP on Thursday. I'm taking 50mg of prednisone once daily for 10 days to try and calm them down. I also found out that C2,C3 and C4 discs are now degenerative. I knew that L3, L4 and L5 were. I guess I am just falling apart at the seams. I found a car that I liked but couldn't get it because the bank won't float me a loan. I cosigned a loan for my daughter 3 years ago that I have not paid one dime on so the bank seems to think that I can't have 2 car loans. Now I'm back to the drawing board in trying to find a car that I can pay straight out for. :(
That's all that's going on in my world. I think I've started to revert into myself right now. :( I hope everyone has a great Sunday and don't forget to GFY!

Hey Atcha - guess the rest of the Fugees are on vacation
Yep. Looks that way.
Well, I couldn't get my drone back. Luckily it was a real expensive one. I did get another one and went to the park yesterday to "learn" to fly better. lol

Put a hook on the new one and grab the other one out of the tree with it.

And yes, I will bust a gut laughing when you get them both stuck in the same tree :giggle::giggle::giggle::giggle::giggle:

I almost DID get the other one stuck too! That's when I became aware of my total inept drone flying capability. hehehehe
I went to an open area yesterday and practiced. I will continue to do so and hopefully the next time I go to Louisiana, I can get some really cool swamp shots.

Who would have thought building a scale model of Fukushima nuclear power facilities and letting it melt down was forbidden in our lease. Also is there a reason I'm seeing in ultraviolet now, even during the day? Ah, here it is in the nuclear safety manual, glowing iris. "How 'bout that?"

It was educational, sincerely it was, I had thought I recalled a means to neutralize the radiation. Had to give it a try and see. Well, the E.P.A folks are guiding me toward a decontamination shower. Wire brush cleansing, try it and like it they say. Reckon I best git and y'all best GFY, loves - n -hugs all around.
