Ya know, cheap VOMs (volt-ohm meters) can be had a Wally World or Harbor Freight for around $10. And Steam Engine (use Dale's link) can give you an approximation... 10 wraps around a certain size rod of #26ga kanthal wire will be approximately X Ohms. The actual Ohms doesn't matter that much... whether it comes out 1.5 or 2.0 or 2.5, adjust your mod's Watts setting to make a nice flavor... 5, 7, 10 Watts.

I am using 2.0 Ohm coils that vary over time of use from 1.8 to 2.1 and I just adjust my Watts to make the taste right for me... somewhere between 5.0 and 12. One does not have to fear that this is rocket science. Just make your adjustments to whatever your tongue tells you tastes right.
So for squonking it’s best to go around 1.8ohms?

It depends on the RSA and what kind of vape you desire. Go .1 or 2.5 if you battery and RSA can handle it

I never took it out of the box, I didn't even know it had settings.

I just kinda meant in general, not towards you. You know what I mean, especially if you aren't building crazy low ohms, you can very safely use a regulated mod to read the resistance

Oh I know juice...he was asking how to check ohms, and he has it in his hands...I sent it to him.

You can easily read the ohms of a coil using the Wraith - those who insist you need a dedicated ohm meter are full of it
There are those who demand perfection (exacting numbers). Obviously I am not one of those. However, if numbers are important to you, bear in mind that the voltage and ohms and watts readings that various mods display are NOT exact (as if I care). Those mods are made to put power into your coils, not to give you perfect numbers (that would cost them too much). I am just saying that if I have a coil in one mod that reads 1.45 on one mod, that same coil might well read 1.8 on a different mod or 1.99 on a different mod. Does it matter? Only if you believe the bullshit that mod makers and sellers try to ram down your throat. None of these toys is perfect, and your tongue probably won't be able to tell the difference between 1.5 or 2.0 anyway. Lannie builds her coils and tests them on a tiny Ohm meter that the base of the tank screws into. That way she can be relatively certain she didn't accidentally make too many or too few wraps before she wicks it and re-assembles the tank. As Lucy says, you do not really need a separate meter, but if it works for your convenience, do whatever turns you on. If you let the bozos who make the videos sway you too much, you'll spend your life trying to achieve THEIR perfection when you don't have to.

Yeah I see what you mean I used Sarah's wraith and it read 2.14ohm and the eleaf istick I just fixed reads 2.05ohm that's a .09ohm difference

I come from an industry where a resistor might be 10k Ohms with a 20% tolerance. Think about that. It could be 8,000 Ohms or 12,000 and the circuit would still be acceptable. Obviously, that is not the case with coils. My industry used coil for inductance, not resistance. And two coils wrapped around each other made something called a transformer, used to step up or step down voltage. But that is all irrelevant to this discussion, other than to show the vastness of the subject. For us low Watts vapers, the small variations don't make any difference. For those who vape clouds at 150W and use 0.15-Ohms coils, a variation of a few hundredths of an Ohm will make a lot of difference in the Wattage requirements to make the same cloud. But I am not a cloud chucker -- I vape for taste and 5-10 Watts is all I will ever need.

Indeed....when you making a coil above 1.5 ohms...it doesn't mean jack shit if it's 1.5 or 2.5...it'll still work.

And now, dear friends, it is time for this ancient old phart to lie down and snuggle the kitty and hope I get enough sleep to not be overly comatose when Lannie wakes my achy old ass up in the morning and puts that coffee cup in front of me.

Catch ya on the flip flop.

Is there a squonk tank that takes a factory coil and still be a squonk
The one that comes on the Kanger squonkers. not a tank per sie but an Squonking RDA yhat takes factory coils.
It is pretty much crap though.

Ohh and just a PSA from here.
Cromwell is adjusting to summer time schedule.
Which means earlier to bed and up earlier to get stuff done before it gets so stinkin hot.

Which means not much late night foolishness from The Cromwell.

Aw, Crom, the recliner usually claimed your consciousness around 10 PM anyway, and Autumn will be here in just a few months, so we'll try to catch ya during the daytime (weather permitting). :)

Is this part of the "healthy, wealthy and wise" thing I've been lectured about my whole life?

Has anyone tried the Aspire Revvo atty? It uses little discs for coils, burning like the burners on an electric range. I wonder if it's any good.

From the reviews I have seen it is pretty sucky.
But never tried it an probably never will.
I think that's because it is an RDTA for squonkers, and many don't like them. It's basically an iJoy combo, but with arc coils that are replaced much easier than DIY coils, and (according to one review) hits like a clearomizer, which is what Phillip is used to. In the end, he'll have to do something. The clearomizers he likes are no longer made, and neither are the coils.

Finally used the last bit of Cotton Bacon V2 from my first bag that I got back in January I think it was.
And I gave 1/2 of it to a grandson.
Have 10 more bags so am set for a few years it seems.

I have "approximately" 460 feet of cellucotton remaining from my 500' roll, I can reasonably assume this will last the remainder of my life, if I live to be 120+/-

Can't handle Rayon.
However I still have about 1/2 of a 45 ft box of Salon Coil Cotton that I bought about 3 years ago.
Lucy talked me into trying Cotton bacon so now the Salon Cotton just sits in an apothecary jar...
The CBV2 was better :)
Although not a whole lot better.

Believe I have a box of Sally cotton too, but can't stand cotton any longer, and several bags of cotton bacon too, which were sent free when I ordered items from Chef's site....no like cotton bacon either.....:)

Nice to see there are at least three of you still alive and kickin'...

Nope, been deleting spam.....how was Rich's day?
Was a humid SOB here today, after the rain yesterday....damn I hate high humidity.....:gaah:
Yeah, I think most of us hate high humidity, although Eric and Lucy have to live with it continuously.
I think we only hit maybe 62 today, with light rain and windy all day, but the sun sneaked through a crack right about sundown and made the most gorgeous huge double rainbow. Didn't really do anything worth BSing about today... oh, wait... I used a few 12 gauges in my coach gun this morning to dispatch a couple skunks.
