Kinda, but close to normal.....time flies when we're having fun, damn it's almost mid of Nov already. That's cool for this time of year in Arizona
Did you ever try Mt. Lemmon just north of Tucson? That was before I even learned to ski, but I loved their tiny little lodge.Used to be decent skiing in Arizona, not so much the last few years....cold, but not much snow.
How was your day, Jimi...?Evening My Old Phart Friends

YupWas that up near the telescope?
Meant Flagstaff...not of flag....Was that up near the telescope?
I assumed that. When I worked in Grand Canyon, everyone just said "Flag" when they talked about going shopping.Meant Flagstaff...not of flag....
You were on the north side?I assumed that. When I worked in Grand Canyon, everyone just said "Flag" when they talked about going shopping.
No. Grand Canyon Village, South Rim. I was swing shift Lead Desk Clerk at Bright Angel Lodge, which sits about 20 feet from the rim.You were on the north side?
Ah....yes, been there many times....perhaps even when you were there....small world.No. Grand Canyon Village, South Rim. I was swing shift Lead Desk Clerk at Bright Angel Lodge, which sits about 20 feet from the rim.
The old suit and tie days....bet your glad those days have come to pass...........View attachment 124183
The guy in the suit was me back then.
Well, that was back in 1991. I think there are still some ties in my closet and sports jacket (several sizes too large), but not a suit. Can't even remember the last time I had to wear a suit (other than at GC), but I often wore one just because I liked it back in the '60s-'80s.I can't remember the last time I wore a suit and tie..... I don't own one either......
Damn...1991....I was up there in the 90's....can't remember if I stayed at the lodge tho.Well, that was back in 1991. Wow, that's an incredible picture if it's not photoshopped......I was very deeply into 35mm photography back then too...

Have a good one, Jimi.....Yak at you tomorrowWell my friends I am gonna call it a night, have to let the vampires have a go at me tomorrow
I don't even know if Photoshop existed back then. I remember my Canon was on a tripod and I held the shutter open (via cable) for several minutes at night. I took lots of T-storm pictures at the canyon, but this one turned out best.Wow, that's an incredible picture if it's not photoshopped......
I've never seen anything like that. Incredible photo. Prolly win some contests if it was done with higher quality newer shit.I don't even know if Photoshop existed back then. G'nite Jimi!
I don't remember exactly where that one was taken... probably up near Powell Point (a mile or so west of the lodges). The lighting on the canyon rocks was provided by the lightning behind me. I don't know if they have spot lights on the canyon today, but they did not light up anything back then. I remember a tourist asking me once "At what time do they turn on the lights?" and I just laughed. This is a national park, not an amusement park. The average tourist had an IQ equal to the speed limit (25).By the looks of the photo, you must have been right by the lodge......

Have a good one, Rich....!East northeast. I think the North Rim lodge is just out of the picture to the left. You can't really see the lodge itself without a telescope (and then only the roof), but in daytime you can pick out the general location. I think I have a few pics looking down on Phantom Ranch (about 4,500 feet below the camera). That was such an awesome place. During my nine months there, I spent nearly every day off wandering through the Anasazi ruins (and some Pueblo). Tons more pictures...
Well, time to put my ancient butt to bed. Yak more tomorrow.
SIL take you hostage?Hello fellow Pharts.
Had a bit of instability in the cosmic continuum in my neighborhood for a few days.
Back now.
So, Crom, who burned down what this time?Had a bit of instability in the cosmic continuum in my neighborhood for a few days
That's a good day, compared to others. Not bad, actually. The sun showed its face for awhile and the thermometer went all the way up to 49 -- well, for a few minutes anyway. Most of the day was 40-45 but that wasn't too bad either. Winds from the west in the 5-8 mph category (light breeze). A good deal of the white shit melted.
And here it is, 10 PM and it is still 32 degrees. Maybe even the frozen cow shit will be soft again by morning. That's a good day, compared to others.
So you didn't go to Grand Canyon today after all...I didn't do much today, except fuck with paperwork, which I despise
Flight? Are you heading for EC before December then?gonna try and change my flight tomorrow, get the hell out of here asap.
Didn't go to the canyon....woke up with email from my account. And here it is, 10 PM and it is still 32 degrees. Maybe even the frozen cow shit will be soft again by morning.

Not sure I know what that means these days... you had an inquiry about some project and had to do the paperwork on it, which got in the way of you having fun today???woke up with email from my account.
My accountant needed info for payroll taxesNot sure I know what that means these days... you had an inquiry about some project and had to do the paperwork on it, which got in the way of you having fun today???
Yeah, you are, I'm not.....Ahhh, accountant, not account. OK, I'm awake now.
Gonna have express delivery so you can be sure to take possession before your rescheduled flight? So, once you're in the air, we won't hear from you again until January?AND, the GF called this afternoon, with a list of shit she needs but can't get delivered to EC without costing a leg and an arm, so I have to get it from Amazon and bring it with me. But I didn't get around to ordering it today
I have internet service in EC.Gonna have express delivery so you can be sure to take possession before your rescheduled flight? So, once you're in the air, we won't hear from you again until January?
I be really corn fused now.... I thought you said before that you'd have to use your satellite phone, which was really expensive. But then, I guess I would be incommunicado simply because I am a cheap Scrooge.I have internet service in EC.
