LOL! Well, at least they sent them right? Thanks again for all of your reporting and updates about this device, it was a really big help to a lot of people who were skeptical about it, including me. :)
Hi Nikki, can you tell me if you are getting them direct from Kangxin?. A guy on the forum got one delivered today from 3fvape and is having issues with it. I`m suspecting it was their first batch because 3fvape have had them available for a while now. It looks identical so I assuming it is Kangxin, has copper top and bottom etc.

EDIT, problems sorted after much deliberation and trying things. Took the batts out and put them back in and it`s working fine. Must have reset the chip :)

The user was getting very low vaper and a cool vape, this may sound pretty basic, but it sorted it :)

Possible reset routine

Remove batteries for system reset then put them back in.
Leave the 510 screw a little high so you dont have to keep adjusting it.
Make sure the atty and mod have not been used for a while so they are at the same temperature.
Press the fire button with no atty on ( to get the same start-up for everyone)
Put the atty on, firm but not tight(nickel build)
Press the fire button.
It should ask "new or same coil"
Hit the up button for new coil.
Set the temperature to 420F or your preference.
Pray

Cross fingers and everything else
Vape away

Yes Robby I did get them direct from Kangxin .. I have heard of 3Fvape, but I have never received anything from them. I have heard that they mostly likely do have the first batches of the Kangxin though, as you said they had them listed for a little while now.

Glad the issue was sorted though :)

Putting the battery in backwards WILL FRY THE CHIP. Looks like I have to put the evolv board in now. Didnt really want to and I'm sure it takes forever for fast tech to do a RMA.

nikki can you put any atty, even with kanthal on this vf v3 from kangxin and tell us its fire from sleep or it have delay ?

Mine fires from sleep mode, but I have read that after several hours with no activity it may ask you to reconfirm "new or same atty" before it fires. I haven't used it that extensively yet as I am still focused mostly on the V2 which I am reviewing first.

Say what? These are supposed to reverse battery protection o_O Thanks for letting us know, although it sucks that you fried your board. I would still try to get some compensation from FT, I heard their RMA center is in Miami. Since its under warranty for 6 months you can return it to Miami and they will send you another one after you confirm the issue.

I have a dna40 and a evolv charge board im just going to put it in. I contacted fast tech if they just send me one first I'll return it that way but I'm not going through the long wait again.

Also I put one battery in then the other one wrong so it was in series so 8.4v probably did it.

That sucks :( .. Depending on who answers your ticket at FT is might not take too long, I know they are instock and shipping the next day, one of my buddies just picked on up.

The good thing is that you know how to replace the board, someone else wouldn't be so lucky.

I've a temp protected v3 coming from focal so can't speak on that one as of yet,l. I do have the v2 from FastTech in hand tho.

For some reason I expected it to be bigger then it is. I was surprised. Pictures make it look huge lol. Fit n finish is damn near perfect aside from just above the fire button their is a super slight gap with the top piece so you can just barely see the glow of the screen thru it. No biggie. Not battery caps line up at a slant the same way as the real flask does. Didn't expect that's since every pic I've seen they aren't facing the same way.

Only complaint I have is due mostly to the 510 connection. Some of my RDAs if I screw them all the way down will read .1-.2 ohm lower then it is. If I unscrew it back a bit it will read correctly. Other RDAs if screwed down all the way it doesn't see it and I get a Check Atomizer message. Again if I unscrew it a bit it will read perfectly. Its odd. I'll take it apart later and have a look. If anything I'll swap it with a FDV connector.

The electronics probably sustained damage from the heat, rather than from over-voltage. Thing is, with batteries in parallel, if you connect one of them backwards, you get a massive short circuit through both batteries, but the board sees zero volts.

Yes it seems that all SXK boards still read .1-.2 lower than the actual resistance, they have been like this since the Yosen DNA Zero .. even as the board in the SXK V2 Flask is much improved in terms of actual output performance over the V1 and V2 Zero boards.

I don't have the issue you have with not being able to screw atties down all the way ... I snugg all of mine up, I have used a Kayfun V4 clone, authentic Russian 2.0, and Hobo V2 clone with it, and they were all fine for me with flush mounting. But this is the clone game eh? Even when we get a seemingly good clone, there are always reports of minor to major niggles with the devices.

A big FYI to @Robby, some info that you need to make your peeps over on AAEC aware of ...

I just got word that Kangxin plans on changing the Vapor Flask V3 packaging from this point forward. Siting "ugly packaging" with the current Yellow Vapor Flask gift box. I think that a change of packaging now is a mistake, and will only create more confusion amongst users. As it stands right now I have received direct inquires about the authenticity sticker that appears on my packaging, which was not placed on most other packages that went out. A change of packaging now I think will only add to doubt and concerns about the origins of the Vapor Flask V3.

From what I understand, with regard to the old/current packaging Kangxin only placed authenticity stickers on Flasks shipping to the US?? o_O This has created a little bit of confusion as well.

So anyway, I hope that Kangxin can be convinced to leave the packaging as is, if not, users be advised that if you have just ordered a Kangxin and are still waiting to receive it, it may or may not show up in the yellow gift box.

I retract my previous statement on the wonky 510. Turns out the rdas that it wasnt reading when screwed down were all temp control builds. Forgot, Oops. Lol

Soon as I swapped the builds they were fine. Odd tho. Should've thrown a low ohm warning if anything.

So ya all know the flask has ni here's what fast tech said...

Thank you for your response.

We don't declare the reverse polarity protection function in our listing. As per tracking information, you got this item on January 26th. You used this item for 3 days when you contacted us.

In this case, we are afraid that we could not offer the warranty for this item. As the item was damaged under improperly using.

Thank you for understanding

I may not gain any friends with this comment, but In all honestly I dont believe its their fault if someone breaks their device by inserting the batteries the wrong way. That's called user error.

Reverse battery protection is a standard, or has to be implemented. I've fried a Kick before, so have quite a number of other folks. The needed circuit is on a chip or is on the chipset on the board , but not implemented. When you market an electronic device to the general population, basic goofs like putting a battery in backwards need to be thought of during the design phase of the product.

I only put my battery in backwards cause I was being yelled at to hurry up. I was just changing batteries before heading out then bam smoke! Well I ordered some silicone wire and a evolve charge board. So the dna40 will be in tomorrow.

FastTech has these V2s instock in blk and silver and now the temp control v3s aswell in blue red and silver.

Focal has the temp control v3s in stock in blk and silver They shipped mine out last Thursday.

No idea who else is carrying them.

This.

Reverse voltage protection is just a diode - or 2 or 4, depending on whether your batts are in parallel, or you want the user to be able to insert them any which way. Not having it is inexcusable in 2015. Hell, it was already inexcusable in the 80s...

In the 'Ideal World'..but then, fewer would learn...as long as it was advertized accurately..

Hey Giraut, a buddy lent me his RDNA40 with a Freakshow atty, dual coil NI200 @0.13 Ohms. What temp and watts do you normally use your rda at?

I have a feeling the "right" temperature depends completely on the exact atomizer / coils / wick, so I'm not sure the temps I use would mean much to you. Also, I like hot vapes. Not everybody does. But FWIW, I use 460-490 degrees with rayon, and 470-500 with cotton - the higher the VG, the higher the temperature.

With dual nickel coils, it's very important to balance the coils and the wicks perfectly: if one coil runs hotter than the other, both may read 500 degrees on average for instance, but in reality, one could run at 450 degrees and the other at 550 and you'd get a burnt taste from the hotter one. It's actually delicate enough to set up right for higher temperatures that I've quit experimenting with dual coils with my DNA40. At lower temperatures, balancing the coils is less of a problem of course.

Well I have been running the V3 clone in TP mode since about 5pm yesterday and its working great .. I have it set up at .20 and 14.5W/450F, and set at this level it hasn't had to go into TP mode. When I set it down to 400F it went into TP mode after about 5secs of firing .. How it behaves when TP mode kicks in is different from the authentic.

You will get "temperature protected" flashing on the display but it will not show you the wattage going down and up like the authentic does, you can only "feel" it limiting power. Also, while firing in TP the actual firing temperature is displayed, not the set TP temp. Example: it will show 190F, 340F, 390F, 400F on screen while firing .. when you release the fire button you will see whatever you set the TP limit to. So there are differences, but I prefer looking at the actual change in temp as opposed to seeing the values displayed as changes in wattage.

And mine fires immediately from sleep ... if I didn't mention that already :p

That's a different story then. To me, it's a DNA 30 clone board and the Authentic Evolve DNA 30 doesn't even have it so I assume neither would the clone.

Didnt know the manufacturer of these flasks said it does. I can't say I'll test it out on mine either way. :p

Does it fire immediately from sleep??? :p

I have found also that around 450 is a good setting. Anything around 400-420 does bring the TC on. All that means is that the wicking isnt quite keeping up with demand, so it is very sensitive and works very well. Even if you run it dry at a 450 setting, the TC will come in of course, but it wont burn the wick at all :) I use a Magma dripper almost exclusively and despite the number of very dry wicks this coil and wick are still going great after about a week. The wick is still as white as cotton ;)

Nikkita, my authentic shows the firing temp aswell while its firing below the set temp which I do like. It does show the wattage changes tho as it's throttling back which I dont care either way.

Can't wait for my V3 to show up. Only disappointment with the V3 I've incoming I didn't notice until after it was shipped. It has an adjustable 510 not spring loaded which some people may prefer anyways. I can swap that tho which I may because Im not a huge fan of the threading being copper.

Is your V3 spring loaded or manually adjustable? Copper threading or stainless? Ask if its a new or used coil when changing coil/atomizer? Fire directly out of sleep? :p

The Kangxin V3`s are manually adjusted @msgnyc. It is copper threading, but I`ve said before, I dont have an issue with that. Seen a lot of dna40 mods with connection issues around the detected resistance which will totally throw the chip. Even .005 ohms out will mess up the calibration. I prefer a good firm connection and not all the spring loaded 510 connectors are independant of the spring electrically. The current goes through the spring on some of them giving two more connections in the voltage line.

Yeah don't do that! .. I will tell you exactly what the User Manual that came with this said though, which is kind of telling o_O

ATTENTION: Although the battery have reverse protection, please make sure the battery be installed in the proper position, +Positive side of battery towards the top of the device, and -Negative side towards the bottom.

That is all .. It sys that this device has reverse polarity protection, and clearly it is does not. There is also no warning that you can fry the chip if you do reverse the polarity. Even though Dre already changed his chip, if he has his original box and manual I would open a Paypal dispute which he would win. Doesn't matter that FT didn't list it on the product page, if the this is what the included user manual says for the device they sold him, that is all that matters. ;)
