As a bolt guy, I never was a fan of the AR platform nor was I a fan of the cartridge. BUT I have been converted;

Same (except I liked the cartridge, best bolt I have). What sold me is as a glasses guy I've never been able to shoot a rifle without optics. Tried a friend's AR and I could see. Built two, with a third on the way whenever I feel well enough to spend a day in the machine shop.
I want to like levers but they're difficult to have optics on.

When my eyes got so bad pistols became a problem this became my house gun.

Oh yeah, and my Mini-14 sucks. I don't understand how they can make a rotating bolt 223 shoot that bad.

God I love that chart :) They fixed the problem some years back as I understand but you still have to detach the optic to clean. From what I know.

As a bolt guy, I never was a fan of the AR platform nor was I a fan of the cartridge. BUT I have been converted; I like the lego set mentality (modular design) and the cartridge is REALLY nice. Not that anyone needs my affirmation on either... Just took me a while to come around. I "get" it now. Still prefer my bolts and levers but the AR/556 combo is a great platform. Don't know why I am talking about this since I quoted a Mini-14 post but there you have it :p

Only if you have the stamp, if not then enjoy the atf butt pummeling if you are caught.
I have many stamps and many pending

I have a stamp or stamp pending for 1 out of every 4 guns I own...almost 6 years of back and forth with the atf for form 1 & 4's for suppressors, she's and ape's. I bet a good deal of money ill have the first door knocked on if laws are introduced for them in my town

Just got a Surefire M600U, was going to get the mini-scout but saw this for under $200 and got it instead. Then dropped $25 on the diffuser, ridiculous that they should cost that much. Been slowly piecing this upper together, going to be pretty hefty, neither the LaRue Stealth or the Geissele MK2 are lightweight.

Only thing that would set it really off is those wired collapsing stocks.
Like the sbr are because its small and easy to maneuver in tight spaces, even with a suppressor its still shorter then stock. Its still able to shoot over 250yrds accurately. I love bullpups but this one still gets me aroused.

Not sure why the Mini-14 is getting hate here. I take it to the range and it's a great rifle. Lots of gun owners vouch for it as a good starter.

Maybe yours is newer, after they fixed the production. Mine is lucky to keep all shots on a sheet of paper at 100yds.

It's just hard to justify a role for the mini 14 in these days of cheaper and better ARs. I think the mini has a nostalgia factor going for it, and as a collectors piece a folding stock mini is a classic. Cost of magazines, lack of aftermarket accessories, lack of accuracy, you can pretty much buy a sub-MOA AR off the rack for less than a basic mini 14 ranch rifle. It's a fun gun, and a decent action, but it's dated and I wouldn't trust my life on it.

Gotcha. I guess I just love the M1 Garand style action, but don't have the money to get a real Garand. The way that the clip ejects probably wouldn't work well either.

There's nothing more fun to shoot than a US Rifle .30cal M1 - Mr Garand made a fine fighting rifle. I don't own one, but have shot them several times with buddies, the time is near I think. There's not many small arms that are so satisfying to shoot, IMO. But man, 30-06 is expensive and the rifle does need a decent amount TLC to be kept up.

I disagree, I find even a 7mm STW is more fun then a .30, we each like different things, some are more for nostalgia others for pure enjoyment. To tell you the truth I havent had more fun with a pistol or rifle as I have had with my GSG-5PK SBR and my Tokarev replica....I love shooting all day without dumping over a $100 into ammo.

Agreed. I just wouldn't have the money to feed a Garand, but it would be a dream.

Precision application of force, doesn't matter what platform...
ohh it matters you go out with the wrong gun and shoot at dat big pig he may bite your face off when you try to make a precision shot and it bounces off that is bad

Female Ring:

Ive wanted one of these Petite Protectors for quite some time but they are crazy expensive when they pop up. They fire 2mm BB Cap rounds (Miniature 22 short shells with less powder). Would be a great wedding ring :D

Metal Storm: This is a stacked weapon that fires off ONE MILLION rounds per minute. So, if we ever run across anything that can handle 900,000 rounds per minute, but not a million, we can thank the Aussies for getting us over the top.

Those rings seem a bit unsafe, of course I don't know their safety mechanism but I'd hate to be wiping my nose with a loaded gun.

I love 30-06. Wish we could hunt something other than coyotes with it.

Where do you live??? Only can hunt coyotes with 30-06?

IL, only varmints or unprotected species with centerfire rifle. There are feral hogs moving in but for the most part coyotes are all you would set out to shoot with one. Even some 223 bullets can destroy a fox pelt.

Deer are shotgun, muzzleloader and centerfire pistol.

What rounds do you use V-max? I wouldnt suggest any other round for hunting...

Sierra
BlitzKing polymer tip - hardest, good small exit or two on fox.
GameKing HPBT - no exit on coyote, jacket can slice the exit on fox so it's a crap shoot. No exit on groundhogs.
Blitz Varminter - great for squirrel heads, will blow the whole side of the fox open.

I don't remember what cheap bullet I'm using for AR15 plinking but it's billed for prairie dogs so I imagine it wouldn't be good for meat or fur. I do have a bunch of GameKings loaded for AR15. I figure with what they do on coyote they'd make a good residential area self-defense bullet.

I think my friend using A-Max for the 600yd Service Rifle matches he goes to.

I haven't had time or health to work up any accuracy loads for AR15 yet.
hope your health improves then..fun hobby!

Best in .223 for hunting I would say

Really depends on what you're shooting. Best prairie dog bullet isn't going to cut it for deer (I wouldn't use 223 for deer here but I've seen deer in other states that would be no problem). Versitile round with the right bullets for the job.

Anyone use Buffulo Bore rounds yet? Ive been thinking of getting some 45 in +P+ in 255gr but I havent heard of any reviews for it yet...

Ive hunted deer with 22LR (3- Years ago, pulled a 7 and 9 pointer...took a shot or 2 after they ran but they went down. I dont see a reason not to use .223 for deer, just use heavier grain rounds.

I don't have any experience rifle hunting deer. My thoughts would be penetration and blood trailing when things don't go perfect.
I quit gun hunting deer for bowhunting, and hopefully next year crossbow. Same reason I used large diameter mechanical heads, for when things don't go perfect.

I like the triggers a lot better than Remington. Although I have no idea what Model 70's are lately (or if they're even still around, again).
My Remington fan friend has a Model 70 from the first or second year, I think just to torment me.

I use the 30-30 or a 7mm STW now for that very reason..I havent touched a Bow in about 7 years...Though I still have my martin archery compound bow, I dont go out much for hunting-I dont have the time since I had kids and now I bring them out to learn the basics and the box may make a appearance in the future out there. Actually I might take it outback later and see if I can still pull it back o_O

Martin was my brand too. I'd suggest an archery thread but it would just make me miss it more. Three Martins modern enough to hunt, one target Martin. a 90's Martin, an 80's Browning and a PSE recurve.
I would be in lasting pain if I tried to shoot them. Hate to sell them though.

3 good reasons for foregrips.
1. Holds a switch for a light or laser.
2. Liberals hate them.
3. If a liberal ever picks up your AR15 there's a 50% chance they'll shoot themselves.

I don't know anything about that thing but it sure looks like it says 10,100 RPM on the side, which is fully insane, but a million seems impossible. Hell, 10,100 is ridiculous, I sort of don't see the application for it. But, back to the #s, does it blast 1100 off in 6 seconds and then it's spent? It's a self contained missile battery like sort of thing? I'll have to look it up, it's weird.

...
Huh, okay, looked it up. weird.

With non-lethal ammo, it could probably be used in riot situations. It certainly has the fear factor.
