DIY Flavor Shack sent my order very promptly and received it yesterday. Not only that, they included a 10ml bottle of American Blend Gold VG just to be nice! It was a very good buying experience (they also responded to email promptly), so they bat 100 in my book.
And I have to say, their flavors actually taste like tobacco.
@SteveS45 is right, though, they need steeping to remove the flowery/harsher overtones, true of most tobaccos. With the dripper I could really taste that cigarette flavor across the middle of the exhale though, so just need to steep away the other notes. The Pipe tasted faintly of Capt Black. Each was unique and I think I will enjoy most if not all of them.
Also thanks to Steve for his advice as to strength. I made up (6) 10ml vials with 5ml VG in each for testing purposes, adding 1-2 drops of flavoring in each vial, which is just 1-2% and that was plenty (at least before steeping) to get an idea. After trying them each, made up 30ml bottles to put away for a few weeks. Depending on the flavor, the strength ranged from 1% - 3%.
Still wish there was a cigarette flavor that didn't need steeping you could just add a few drops to whatever tank you have going, but this is a HUGE improvement from the last time I tried tobacco flavors, and the tobacco flavor I DID get was so close to a cigarette (or pipe) that makes steeping worth it, even to someone who doesn't normally bother with it.
So again, thanks
@SteveS45.
My only reservation is that the bottles have a disclaimer that they "may contain [and here they name all the diketones]." This includes flavors they state don't have diketones. I asked about it and they very nicely informed me all their labels say that, and that they state on the site if a flavor has diketones. I can imagine several innocuous reasons why a small business might do that, but it's not reassuring without a lab sheet. So don't know that I will re-order, but trust them enough to at least vape this order and see what happens later. I prefer buying from sellers that provide labs. No offense to DIY, they've been super nice. A+ in fact.
