Well a friend of mine swears by full Nichrome80 aliens. They are simple to make, he says, and whatever he kept trying, they still offer the best flavor to him... he doesn't use SS316L because, "that ramp up, eh...". Me, I like how aliens perform, and like it a lot, but in the end I still get more flavor from my Kanthal A1 / Nichrome80 SSFC builds in conjunction with turning the wattages up a notch so what I took away from all this is that everyone is just different and you don't know something until you've tried something. Those mirror finish coils of yours look great, and I'm 150 percent sure at least someone on the planet truly likes their performance and the flavor they produce. That said, I could be wrong, but I don't believe brahmasutra_68 turns those square shaped wraps to get that helix type look for nothing but aesthetics and art.
Actually, he (and many others) do. Specifically for coil porn.but I don't believe brahmasutra_68 turns those square shaped wraps to get that helix type look for nothing but aesthetics and art.
In that case I recommend that you stick to simple round wire parallel builds just like @The Cromwell because then there's no coil porn whatsoever and the practicality is through the roof. Seriously though... I think you might have already just answered your own question, as the only other non coil porn truly practical useful builds─other than what's already been mentioned up thread─that I can think of using flat wire are just variations on the tiger coil.Actually, he (and many others) do. Specifically for coil porn.
Or just clapton it first, and twist it together with something else (e.g. just ribbon wire) after that. The stapled tiger and the tidal wire coil build video tutorials by Twisted Messes on YouTube could give you some inspiration... another example would be OhmBoy Josh's zipper staple tiger coil─albeit all of these are using ribbon wire instead of flat wire. But I think flat wire can also be used between the wraps of any coil type to create a staged heating effect. Endless list of options IMO.Maybe twist the 0.9x03 and Clapton it?
Me too, but I think the stretch would have to be exact, or it wouldn't work.
yeah i dont think the decore would end up being as square edged as i imagine it either. when i picture this build, the alien wraps are sharp 90deg zigzags and they sit flat/square on the square cores. in reality, i feel like the decore would be rounded too much even if it was square wrap on a square core...
I’ll have a double frappa helix with an extra shot double twisted with one lump love not two, mark it up with 40g for the name
Come on Shark get with the lingo!
the gauge of the wrap is another problem. i have made plain staples (rectangular core, sharp edges) with 38, 40 and 42, and 38 has quite soft edges, 40 is a rounded corner with flat sides, and 42 is thin enough to actually look sharp. im pretty sure they dont make square 42, or even 38 for that matter...but on that note, it prolly wouldnt make a difference if it was square or round passed 40 (can barely see it anyway. tight clapton wraps at 42 just look like tinfoil imo lol).I reckon your right there machine you’d have to be really easy with the tension chef would be easier with a lower gauge wrap probably to maintain the edges
Plus decore is going to be an absolute pig on a square core isn’t it?
