Hi everyone, my question is really in the title, but I will elaborate a bit.
I mainly vape regulated, but enjoy mechs too. I usually make some simple SS316L, 26G duals, 2.5MM ID that come in around 0.2-0.25.
I have lots more wire types, and thought I should use some of it instead of it going to waste. So I watched some of the first building videos I learnt with, and following rip trippers made some 'Macro' Coils. In his video, which was also on a mech mod, the coils seem to ramp up immediately, but for me they are not.
These are made with 24G Kanthal,5 wraps a side around a 3.5MM bit, and measure 0.3 on my Ohm reader (Sigelei), and 0.27 on my Efusion which I used to test the build before using on my mech.
I find that it takes around 2-3 seconds for the coils to heat up properly with a fresh battery. After they have heated, I can take a few more pulls without this ramp up.
I just wondered if that is a standard ramp up time for such a build with Kanthal, and also what you feel is a 'OK' ramp up time yourselves? Is this normal, or should I just go back to the SS316L?
With my regulated mods I just set the power to enough so pretty much immediately I can take a 4-5 second hit.
Currently I am using a Vector RDA and a Phantom mod to run this build, and am using LG HE4's as I keep these specifically for my mechs.
