nope hasn't happened to me. do you have it set to lock when the screen goes off maybe? (not even sure if this is an option but sounds like ti could be. the mod has an ass ton of options)

Nope, I don't see a setting like that. From what I understand, that should only appear if I click the fire button 5 times.
The only one there is the standby setting, and that is at 45 seconds.
I just put the mod down. Screen is dark. Wait one minute. Press fire button. Vape.
    Gotta be something else.
That's one plus the DNAs have. Kind of simple to get the menu and whatnot.
I also think this mod would be better if the menus cascade. Put all the screen options under one selection, vape related under another, etc.
It's a very nice mod, but the human interface absolutely blows.
Modes (Standard, Powerful, Powerful+) don't fit on any but the 'circle' screen.

Hello customer service, I have a few suggestions...

I do think it's a complicated a mod for sure. with a steep learning curve. I still prefer it to the DNA since all adjustments can be made on chip on the fly. I would like to see the re-vamp the menu a bit as well.

as far as lock goes, it's 3 clocks to lock. 5 clicks goes into the menu system.

The everything on the chip only applies if you are not using their SXi modes, and is a topic of endless discussion. For me, I tend to find settings and never change anything but temp. This chip is MUCH easier for me though as I vape SS 430 or NiFe52 and need manual TCR. But I also don't do power mode vaping or vape different tank/builds at the same time. I get a tank, find a build I like, stay with it for quite some time.

Yeah, 3, 5, my bad. I don't think I'm fingering the fire button, but could be.

LMAO different strokes for sure. I have issues though man i just cleaned up and put away 8 attys last night cause i felt i had too many built. then counted how many i still have with juice and coils in them and it's 20. I like to be able to pick any of them up with any mod and throw it on w/o having to plug anything in my PC and adjust it. plus the yihi has a mobile app as well for easy adjustment since i always have a phone on me anyway. But yeah if i only had like 1-2 builds going and they were always the same then it would be a different story.

The mod just went to locked screen mid-vape.
    Something is not right here.
Wonder how to factory reset it?

how so? I use 4-5 a day with each other. 4-5 full set ups with different mods and attys do that for a few weeks rotating a bit and I discover everything i need to know. I vape about 30ml of juice a day. so that's easy enough to run a full tank a day of each device. change builds a few times and between that you know everything you need to. Not sure what i would be missing

it's the same firmware on both ;)

No, actually it's not the same firmware. One is for the raw chip, one is for the SX Mini.
One is 2017021667556857 the other is 2017021667130521
Today as the onset, they may be the same with the exception of the logo, tomorrow, who knows.
Like I said, in the past, one did not fit the other.

Yeah, like I said, were it me, I'd have no real idea about anything I was using/eating/drinking in rotation with so many over so long a period.
If I were making evaluations, it would be for a single thing over a period of time.
    But, you are the reviewer.

Both sites have both versions of the software and the files are identical only difference is the logo
    SX mini site
    Yihi site
As far as the items go, if you only use 1 item how can you compare it to anything else. Maybe you remember something better then it is and that throws you off. If i use a few of the same style tanks especially if i can throw in one of my favorites i can compare and contrast alot better IMO. for instance right now i'm using 3 GTA style tanks. the kumo K5, troll RTA, and siren GTA. all 3 with the same builds and same juice. I'll easily be able to know which one i like best out of the 3. wouldn't be so easy if I used 1, then the other, then the other weeks apart. I can say I know i spend more time with products then most reviewers do. but everyone has their own way to do it and I'm not gonna shit on anyone elses methods personally.

I mean when people do a taste test like say a wine tasting, they taste all them right after each other. they don't drink one for a week, then another for a week, then another for a week. that was my thought process in deciding to do it this way

That's exactly why I only trust the opinion of vapers that vape multiple mods and chipsets. If a vaper commits themself to just one kind of board how can I trust their opinion on anything else? Those types of vapers tend to be petty and narrow minded. I as a vaper want to try everything. I'm always looking for the latest and greatest vape. It's actually kind of sad when you limit yourself to one type of mod. It's kind of like having PB&J for lunch everyday for the rest of your life. Lol. My advice to everyone is get out there and try everything. Try multiple chipsets, try TC, try different wires, cotton, tanks, builds. Try it all and don't stop when you find what you like. Use it as a yardstick for things that you'll try in the future.

exactly. comparing and contrasting is the best way to see what works and what doesn't. at last IMO. someone with no mods but an RX200, RX200s, RX 2/3, and RX300 saying wismec is the best doens't quote hold the weight of someone with mods form every company. I mean nothing wrong with finding what you like and sticking with it but hard to say something is the best if you haven't tried a variety of things. plus in vaping stuff changes fast no one company stays on top for long.

So then, reference the proper site. Easy enough.

As for the rest, If I have a hot dog and a filet mignon, I only need one taste to know which is better.
Unless I REALLY have a taste for a chili dog.
Or, in our case, a Sigelei 213 and a DNA 250, you needn't spend lots of time with one to know the other is clearly better.

Your point seems to be drive a Corvette for an hour, a Ferrari for an hour, a Tesla for an hour.
Make an expert review and recommendation based on your use.

Sorry, shallow impressions are a dime a dozen on the Internet.
For reviewers, I understand the competitive 'got to get a review out'.
I also understand that unless an item is a complete piece of shit, short evaluations especially in a mix of products aren't going to find if something is truly worth buying.

Wasn't directed at anyone. Just trying to say that no one chipset is the end all be all. In order to know what's good you need to try what's out there. Trying different things gives you more perspective. That's all I'm saying.

I agree, if I am looking for advice I trust those that are open minded and use multiple devices. How else can you give an honest opinion if you are clearly biased to certain brands?

I don't really care if someone is clearly a fan of a certain brand, no skin off my back. What is annoying is when that same someone dismisses other products they have never tried to justify there favorite as being the best. That is just insecure, love your stuff and allow other people to enjoy what they like.

    Definitely.
I have every chip made I think, well, no VO chip yet. Even tried a dicodes for a time until I decided I hated their menu system.
I have many different tanks, single and dual coil. No factory coils for me though.
I also have the fecal touch. If a product can go to shit, it will. I've got two EXO RTAs here that will not vape anything with the dual deck. DNA, Yihi, FSK, or Joyetech. Have an OBS Engine with the same malady.

So, the point I was trying to make is that nobody should be too certain of any devices/product based on first impressions.

    Back to my current issue.
I've re-loaded the firmware, exercised the fire button.
If this goes to the lock screen mid-vape again, it'll be back at the vendor.

See? Fecal touch, reverse Midas, whatever.

it is the proper site. if you are gonna flash it, best thing to do is the original version 1st which is listed on the site i linked. If it works then you know the mod isn't the issue and you can move onto the newer version. they asked for a "factory reset" hence the link to the original firmware form the factory ;)

As far as the rest goes, maybe a hot dog and filet are easy, but what about 3 brands of hot dogs all pretty similar. If you only eat one brand for 2 weeks straight by the time you get to the 3rd brand you had 2 weeks of one and the original is probably long forgotten. Now mind you I'm not shitting on that method by any means, but at least I'm open and honest with my methods and willing to discuss (and refine if i feel it's necessary) which is more then you can say for the "big guys" who don't have time for that to listen to feedback and discuss things, their thought process, and their procedure. I'm an open book so you know how I'm getting my info. I also have 0 monetary gain and spend my own money so i have no "obligation" to want to push any products to anyone. If you think this doesn't happen, I'd suggest looking up how giantbomb got started.

I can say for sure, that I highly doubt any of the big reviewers spend anywhere near the amount of time with each item as I do. The amount of juice, builds, rewicks, and actual puffs put through each tank. all while taking notes. I'm in no "rush" as you speak to get reviews out. I know i would never be able to beat out big reviewers to the punch. They have the stuff way before me. barely used it, throw out a quick review and move on to the other piles of shit they have coming in. They get tons of items everyday and have deadlines. I don't. i could go a week or 2 w/o getting anything new and i have no deadlines.

My whole reasoning for starting was because i was sick of overhyped crapped, between fanboys and biased reviews so much wasted money and time on crap. My goal was to help people make a more informed decision and i take it very serious in the quality and time spend of my reviews. All the products I've really hyped up have been pretty loved by everyone who got them. I've had the ijoy and smok RDTA boxes for over a month now and still no review. you know why? the smok one leaked and the ijoy screen died. and both will get mentions in my reviews. how many reviewers actually mentioned these issued or used them long enough to find it?

You say 'they' asked for a factory reset. Who's that? Why isn't a factory image available for other SX Minis if that is the method? At any rate, the original image is available on the SX Mini site too.

You know, you should be willing to admit to linking to the wrong firmware for this mod.
But, that seems to be your method, 'I SirRichardBear know best and if not best, certainly am not ever in error.'

Might be the same exact firmware today except for a logo, but it isn't from the SX Mini site. Therefore, it is not the correct firmware to load on this mod.

    Pretty fucking simple.

that's like saying downloading windows from MS is incorrect for a dell computer and you should only download from dell. We are talking about troubleshooting an issue, at which point you take it back to the original factory settings and start from there. or downloading escribe from evolv is the wrong one when you should download it from lostvape or thinkvape or whichever brand you got. it's troubleshooting 101 to start at the beginning.

I had an issue with a computer one time. windows kept crashing. did a clean install from the manufacturer. same issue. went back downloaded a factory copy from MS. worked fine. went and installed each driver 1 by 1 until 1 driver caused it to crash. that allowed me to pinpoint the issue. removed that driver (it was for a memory card reader which i don't use anyway) not a single issue since. the manufacturer version came packaged with drivers already and one of the drivers was bad. that's why going back to the factory option is the best course for troubleshooting.

I have no issues being wrong. matter of fact I like being wrong, I'm open minded and being wrong means i get to learn something new. I've been corrected before and thank people for teaching me something new. I don't get pissy about it like some people do.

You the same as the people who say why does someone who vapes at low power buy a 200 watt mod,

I have 10 DNA mods, and they all are used in power mode and around 20 watts, why do I have them, because I like the mods and I like the DNA board, even though only use it in power mode, I like I can custom other settings on it, like what is displayed.

I have tried TC quite a few times and I just like power mode better, some people think TC is awesome, and that is great for them, but it is not for me, but doesn't mean I can't have mods that can do TC though.

Just like I would have the SXmini G Class if I could swing it, just because I think it looks badass, but would still just vape it at 20 watts in power mode :)

Ok, we're getting off track and I don't want to contribute but I'm going to because this is also a safety issue.

Anthony, you're a great reviewer and everyone appreciates this and especially your desire to help. But... you sent him to the wrong firmware location; same file or not. Mr. ShowerHead is absolutely correct:

The firmware should always come from the mod manufacturer, NOT the chip manufacturer. If they want you to have the chip builder's version then that's what they'll provide. SXMini could tweak internal resistances, thermal case coefs, drive circuits, advertising illumination etc. We don't know, and it's not proper to assume that it is even safe to flash the Yihi firmware onto our SXMini's unless they tell us so.

So we may happen to know it worked on SX350J/2 chips, and yeah, it'll likely work and just say Yihi rather than SXMini but this is really bad advise to give and more so from such a vocal member of the community here. Did you do a binary compare on the files and examine the differences? Or see a release note stating they are compatible? Willing to assure the safety of others on your firmware selection? Go with what the MOD manufacturer provides as a starting point since they do.

    (updated)
    Per Yihi's FAQ (http://yihiecigar.com/productview/54.html)
Q: Can I use the SXmini firmware to upgrade my mod? The Version is the same anyway.
A: The firmware on YiHi site and SXmini site are different, please use the correct firmware to upgrade your device.
So they directly state not to do this.

Ok, so how 'bout those new shiny G's... Still getting the auto lockout issue after the (proper) re-flash?

While I didn't do any of that prior to your post, i did go back and double check after reading this. the original firmware (which is what i recommend loading when troubleshooting is in fact identical) even on the SXmini site it states it's the factory version. now it's an older firmware but it's the starting point to see if it's a mod issue or firmware issue. i could load all 4 on my mod and test them to see as well. but the factory versions are the same. same name, same version, same size, and even the sxmini site states it's the factory version.
As far as the labels go on them, they are the same version outside of the logo. if a manufacturer alters firmware they list it as a new version. in this case yhihi site lists YiHiSX550J (YH Logo 20170213) V4300 SXmini stie lists SXmini_Logo_20170213) V4300 Basic troubleshooting is always just that.

For instance something I'm familiar with generators, if a controller is not working correctly, you are supposed to load in the manufacturers firmware not the "packagers" firmware. you do this to ensure that the device is operation or not (hence the issue we see) now in this case you can't run it off that firmware because you need to program that controller with the correct parameters. something the manufacturers do. they call it a "personality profile" and this is custom to your generator via serial number and spec number. if it is confirmed to work, then you load a personality profile. if it doesn't work after that it's an issue with the "packagers" profile and you can adjust it to fix an issue or send it back in for replacement if you can't find the specific issue. when you troubleshoot a problem with a board, you always default back to the actual maker of the board because it climates any issue the packager could have caused in "their" version. most packagers do this in vaping. evolv with the DNA chips is probably the most prudent example. Same goes with PCs. when you do a clean install of windows, you install it from MS not from dell, toshiba, hp, etc. it eliminates stuff the packager adds in that could cause an issue.

I'm not saying you have to use that version permanently nor can i verify by any means that you should keep using it. all I said was downloading it will determine if the mod is bad or if it's a firmware issue. at that point then you can always reload in the sxmini one if you want. as far as it being safe, while i can't verify for sure, i highly doubt it's any issue. I mean people are running custom firmware on joyetech chips all the time (arcitc fox for example), same with jailbroken iphones, rooted android etc. and who knows the source of those firmware. a manufacturer wouldn't have "unsafe" firmware on their site.

Calm down, no one said you can't have a DNA. Lol. The point is if you are just going to use it in power mode there are other boards that will fire in power mode just as well and at a much more affordable price. The whole point of buying a board that excels in TC is to use TC. I buy a Porsche for speed and handling. I buy a Jeep for its off road capabilities. If I just want to get from point A to point B while staying under 20mph, well I can do that on a moped. In the end I could give two shits what you buy. Your money, spend it any damn way you want. I was simply making an observation that to me it just makes no sense. You may feel differently and you have every right to. No one is denying that or telling you what you should buy, vape, or feel so take it easy.

I think you took me wrong, was just giving my 2 cents, wasn't mad at all, just seen that sort of thing said many times, and many of my mods was bought because of looks or due to being dual battery, so get longer battery life.

But will admit, my $40 smoat battlestar is one of my favorite mods, because of it's looks, and nah I can't tell the difference in the vape between it and a DNA mod :p

This is probably a dumb question, but are you locking the resistance by pressing/holding down the loystick?

    Cheers,
