Trump has China right where he wants them. He trapped them. Imports from China account for 3% of our economy. We have other sources for their goods that the POTUS cultivated while you were screaming Russia & Emoluments. Our Imports from China are 10x more than our exports to them so their reciprocal tariffs won't even amount to a drop in the bucket in the grand scheme of things but in the mean time manufacturers will return to the USA & that is the goal. China is utterly dependent on export revenue from US imports to service their debt as their financial instability is bad. This will severely impact their economy far more than it will ours.
Give it a couple months to a year & they will be begging for a deal. Other countries will take notice & won't screw around in negotiations lest the same happen to them. POTUS will find another market for the farmers goods or use the tariff revenue to cover the shortfall & feeding North Korea immediately springs to mind as a use for the product in addition to feed grain. Industrialization of North Korea is a goal & POTUS could very well have North Korea in mind to pick up the production of products we used to import from China already laid out behind the scenes. He & Kim have had substantial time to plan this move behind the scenes & our agreement with NK provides for the USA to provide Security to North Korea. There is a reason for that. Couldn't think of a better way to transform North Korea into an economic powerhouse as quickly as possible than to develop them to supply the products we need to import that China is not.
For all we know that may have begun a year ago.
