Why do they always attack vape? 15 metals vs hundreds of chemicals in cigarettes? Cigarettes are ok but ban the vape throughout certain countries? I'll be the first to admit I'm not the brightest crayon in the box, and for the life of me I cannot figure out why vape is so bad. I grew up in Jersey, test that air, the damn water was contaminated from the power plant. Maybe I can at take away some good defense for when people go on their rants about me vaping.

Check out this forum section on VU The Good

Our resident reporter posts a lot of great information there to help you understand what is really going on in the vaping world - and can help you make choices and help educate people who fear or hate vaping because they believe the crap they read or see on TV

If you try to argue with them by talking about the science, most will tune you out quickly. What you can tell people is about the Triad that is aligned against vaping which is Big Tobacco, Big Pharma, and Governments. Explain how much money is being lost as millions have quit smoking. Explain how Big Pharma makes money only if people are sick; tell them about the Master Settlement Agreement and what is at stake for all the states as smoking declines. Explain how of the three, Big Tobacco makes the least amount of money from cigarettes, that usually blows their minds. Once you frame the issue this way, then people will begin to think about why there is so much negative press. Most people understand that these three entities do not have the people's best interests in mind. We all understand how money corrupts so it's not much of a sell.

If that doesn't work, then tell them thanks for their concern about your health, but you'll be the one that decides what is healthy for yourself.

That often still doesn't work either. The way things are now, people's right to decide what is healthy for themselves is under constant heavy attack exactly because science is so easy to manipulate and corrupt, as the common observation that most will tune you out quickly if you try to argue with them about this same science already proves that fact... reasoning with people only works if people have the capacity to be reasonable, which happens to be precisely what real unadultered science is all about so it is first and foremost a moral question, or lack thereof because the moral question is what's being silenced by pseudoscientific propaganda.

    Greetings Crystal.
I don't think "vaping is bad to society".
I know that vaping is considered a threat by several big businesses,
primarily Big Tobacco and Big Pharma which have been doing their best to fund slanted studies
to condemn vaping and augment the few dangers of vaping in order to scare
away folks who might give up smoking if they tried vaping.

I also know tax hungry government entities local, state, and federal
have done much to malign vaping and the vaping industry in order to have vaping considered
a "sin" in order to be able to exact a sin tax on vaping like they do on cigarettes and alcohol.
Consider that a pack of smokes one would pay over five bucks for in the states is less than a dollar in many countries in S. America.

Consider also that the global cigarette market is valued at around US$700 billion,
in fiscal year 2010, the federal excise tax on cigarettes in the USA brought in $15.5 billion in revenue.

In 2016, the US share of the pharmaceutical market was valued around 446 billion U.S. dollars.

Cancer research is a 125 billion dollar industry...
So in reality it is those gub'min entities and big industries that are harmful to society
but vaping is harmful to them because it competes with pharmaceuticals and disease and with tobacco companies which have deals to pay billions of dollars in taxes and punishment with big gub'min.

All those folks and their lobbyists spend lots of money trying to make vaping look bad to "society" but in reality most folks don't give a damn.
In fact some folks are beginning to accept vaping as "normal".,.The American Cancer Society just said:
Scientific Summary: Based on currently available evidence, using current generation e-cigarettes is less harmful than smoking cigarettes, but the health effects of long-term use are not known. https://www.cancer.org/healthy/stay-away-from-tobacco/e-cigarette-position-statement.html

A study by England's Public Health concludes that e-cigarettes are significantly less harmful to health than tobacco and have the potential to help smokers quit smoking. The current best estimate is that e-cigarettes are around 95% less harmful than smoking..

Slowly the members of society who aren't blinded by greed and into not minding their own beeswax
    are beginning to accept vaping.
As far as the rest.... ---- 'em if they can't take a joke.

It's all about the money. They (BT, BP, and big gov't) make TRILLIONS every year on the Death Industry that is smoking tobacco -- mostly the gov't and Big Pharma -- Big Tobacco is actually trying to enter the vaping market in their own right, so they're more of a natural competitor than an evil villain (evil villains like the gov't who makes bank on tobacco taxes and fines, and big pharma who sell all kinds of utterly useless snake oil they claim is for smoking cessation but which actually does nothing, and of course they make even bigger bucks on medicines for COPD, asthma, and CANCER!) They have ZERO interest in anyone quitting smoking, but they sure do love to shame smokers, don't they! And keep in mind that the so-called "charitable" orgs are nothing but paid mouthpieces of big pharma, so obviously they also have zero interest in anyone actually quitting smoking, no matter WHAT they claim.

Vaping is exposing this outrageous, egregious corruption as nothing else has ever done before, so naturally all the corrupt want to stamp it out, or, worst case, control it themselves. You want some actual truthful research that reaches SCIENTIFIC conclusions? Check out what Public Health England, and the Royal College of Physicians, also in the UK, says about vaping -- they get it more right than anyone so far.

    Bingo!

Exposure is the first step in regaining confidence and power for the
common people. The next step is realizing you don't need to consent to a
rigged 'game'. Finally, the third step comes in holding the corrupt to
account and liability, possibly causing them to set right what they made
so wrong. Although, I think we're better off setting it right ourselves
than trusting the corrupt to do so.

That's a gentle stream & what I mean suggesting evolution rather than
revolution. To revolt goes back to the root word, revolve, to come
around in a circle. Why do we want to continue coming back and fixing
all the same problems over and over? Do we not learn? Yeah, I know for
the most part it seems we don't, well, we better.

I clearly see people gaining confidence in themselves, by switching from smoking to vaping -- I was one of those who was convinced I'd never be able to quit, that I'd have to smoke till I died of it. HAH! The realizing that you don't need to consent, that's in learning to make your own coils and your own ejuice, to your own very personal specifications -- I don't even consent to be held hostage by outrageously priced coils or ejuice, or to this insanity called "high VG" (which would either kill me or send me back to smoking in very short order!).

Holding TPTB to account... that's going to be a lot harder, because TPTB control a whole lot of who sees and who knows what; talk about your foxes guarding the henhouse! I'd be happy just to get rid of them and vote only for those with a functional sense of ethics and morality... but those kinds of people seem to be in pretty short supply, in politics -- they all seem to function only by the code of "no one will know" instead of "I will know". Hell, they can't even remember fairy tales from their own childhoods... such as The Emperor's New Clothes.

Got the t-shirt as well. ;) :) Figured I'd die with a weed in my fingers or dangling from my lips.

Look where we are though. You think all the secrets can stay locked up when everybody be learning to look for the secrets? You think information, better yet data is going to sit tight behind some imaginary wall/s? You're not consenting to their game any more. Do you still need their bullshit they use to dazzle ya? Or, can you go out and look around collect up mushrooms, acorns, dandelion greens, cress, grubs, and come find me or @r055co sitting by a freshly made fire and not feed yourself? If you don't like grubs, give 'em to me. They're yummy for me. :)

I'll trade you some raspberries, some fish, maybe some kind of wild grown vegetables, maybe something something. ;) :) Hell I don't care either, shit starts sliding way too way off too quick y'all c'mon up and we'll see you be a'ight, eats what you wants all ya wants, we gets food.

We're on the Internet and world wide web. If I want to know how the Chinese farmer grows big ass carrots, I go look up a Chinese farmer that has an email address. I write him or her and ask them how they do it. I swap how to fix up a good dough for catching bass fish. The common folk ain't got no governments between them any more, really. They done let the one genie out of the bottle which cannot be put back in. Think too, it come from letting off nuclear weapons. DARPA wanted to be sure government could remain in communication, viable if somebody nuked their ass.

So we make their swords into ploughshares. ;) :)

Certainly, Big Tobacco and Big Pharma are the biggest culprits, but not the only ones. Some liberals don't want anyone doing anything that his less than 100% healthy. Some of these idiots want to ban all sugar and meat products. When governments kowtow to these special interests, everyone else suffers.

"Some liberals". Ok then. Funny how Americans talk about liberty all the time but bow down to their conservative masters. Break down the words "Liberty" and "Liberal". Same thing. Conservatives are stuck in the past and, for the most part, are highly religious. If you know anything about science, you'd know that conservatism and religion tried to skew science. Religion tried to kill off science for a long period in history.

What party are most leaders of Big Pharma and Big tobacco? Conservative. The facts are all there for you, but you keep living in your delusion. Glad I don't live in the USA.

Those used to be my beliefs too. Sadly, liberals have now become the party who want to do everything For Your Own Good Whether You Like It Or Not, while conservatives have become the party of "leave us alone!" And liberals also believe in that myth known as Free Money, and there just ain't no such thing, SOMEBODY had to work for it, and working, there's a good old fashioned conservative belief for ya.

I agree that there are a few beliefs more common to the conservatives, such as that women should stay barefoot and pregnant and not be so uppity, that I just can't go along with... Or that homosexuality is a mental illness or blasphemy or some stupid shit like that, and I can't go along with that either. But the conservative belief in working for a living and not being endlessly fucked with and fucked over by gov't, I'm right on board with that. Liberals also want to get rid of all guns in the hands of citizens, which of course would leave guns only in the hands of a) criminals, and b) law enforcement, and sadly that latter category includes far too many who belong in the first category, as well as control-freak bullies who just wanna force people to behave and bow down to their gun-wielding, baton-beating overlords. Citizens NEED guns to protect themselves from BOTH, and also from that overweening over-reaching gov't, which I believe was the Founding Fathers' idea for giving us that right, right there in the Bill of Rights.

But whoever it is who wants to remove my right and my ability to save my own life, on my own terms... I will resist them by any means possible, regardless of what label they affix to themselves.

Ronnie is rolling over in his grave for what the grand old party has become. Mr. Conservative himself Goldwater's warnings about the radical right have come to be.

Pathetic that values of small limited Government is no longer the foundation. There's no way in hell Reagan would be elected in todays GOP nor Kennedy in today's DNC. Both party's are all about no individual privacy, freedom, responsibility for they're all about total control over every aspect of your life </rant>

You keep thinking that. I'm liberal and have worked hard for everything I own, the conservatives did nothing but bend me over. Oh and you talk about your "founding fathers" yet your conservatives "buddies" don't exactly abide by the amendments unless it suits them and their capitalist ways. Or how about the fact that so many Americans are so afraid of the tiniest thing they're always waiting and and basically wanting to shoot someone. "Oh, you're not a threat but you're on my property? I'll just shoot you."

I'm not a U.S. citizen so I have no say in it, but I do care for the feelings of those whose dear loved ones fell victim to "Oh, the whole classroom is neither a threat nor on my property? I'll just...".

Want an example of rampant liberalism? Watch the movie Demolition Man. I am one of those barbarians that would rather live in sewers, eat rat burgers, and steal from Taco Bell, than be forced to only do that which a pompous egotistical ultraliberal tells me I can.

This also goes to the radical religious right who hijacked the GOP.

The problem is that the radicals have been setting policies for both of the major party's.

You're going off a movie? LOL Wow. If you want egotistical, look at Trump. Now he's an extremist. Mexicans are much harder workers than a lot of people in the USA, but the racist scum that are Republicans want to "build a wall". Disability and welfare fraud are rampant in the USA and a good majority of the leeches are white. Now am I a fan of Clinton? Hell no, but she'd be better than the man child Trump.

The question is "Why is society so bad to vaping"?
Vapers are a tiny minority at this point.
We are still a minority even compared to smokers and they are a minority.

Historically, people have been leery about many advances in technology.

    Case in point the automobile.

They ran on and carried gallons of gasoline which was known to catch fire easily and also to explode!

Now we have a new technology that replaces smoking that uses batteries that have been known to explode to heat a metal coil that in turn vaporizes that demon substance Nicotine and other UNKNOWN CHEMICALS.

Now we have a mix of a largely ignorant (not stupid, just ignorant on the subject) public that are listing to the ancient initial and erroneous reports from those mental midgets at the FDA that anyone with a keyboard gladly regurgitates to fill space in newspapers, magazines, TV shows, Blogs and what have you and also adding pseudo science of their own devising.

Gotta have daily content and Vaping and E-Cigs are low hanging fruit.

That and the whole process is fueled and funded by Big Tobacco and Big Pharma.

My 2 Cents and Mini Rant Done.

I went with that movie as an example of extreme liberalism. Trump is a jackass of another color. Even a large portion of his own party consider him a stupid idiot. Yes, I could see him trying to ban vaping, just to appease the tobacco lobby. Hillary would probably do it just because it's not super healthy.

That is very, very true -

Plus it's always popular and socially acceptable to pick on vices and smokers in particular - after all, to most people, vaping is just another way to smoke - smokers are people with weak impulse control and lack character and the government even sanctions picking on smokers

I like cats. They're clean, quiet, and honest -- if there's food involved, they love you; if there's a tummyrub involved and they're in the mood for a tummyrub, they like you. If they're feeling crotchety, they don't lie about it; they turn their back and walk away and you pursue them at your peril.

Dogs pretty much like you all the time, no matter what, but they're too damn noisy and needy.

People? Meh... I like my husband about 90% of the time and my son about 75% of the time, and that's about it.

I do feel guilty but the last three years I lost both of my parents and my cat. I dearly loved both parents but loosing my cat was devastating. I think a large part was he helped me get through my Dad's battle and death from cancer but loosing that shithead tore me up. I've never had anything get under my skin like that fucker. But he was an Abby and they do that.

Animals know your secret life. The one you live when no one is looking. My dog knows all my secrets and I spend 20+ hours a day with him. Do not envy your situation and do not look forward to losing this little guy. We have been close since 2011.

    What's an abby?

Our cat is pretty neat. The only time she really has any use for me is if I'm the only one here -- but if I'm upset about something, she KNOWS... she comes right to me and sits at my feet, looking up with those gorgeous gold eyes, trying to figure out why I'm upset and what she can do about it, I swear.

This was when I read here about someone losing their beloved kitty, and it brought me to tears... she sat right at my feet like "I'm here mommy!"

A movie isn't a good example to use as they're usually way out of wack.. At least we can agree about Trump though. However, out of all the good Republican and Democratic candidates those two idiots made it to the final debates...

Can relate though my shithead was a dog named Thistle. In hindsight I think he had an infestation of bot flies as to what killed him. Might have been able to treat but it was too much for me to try, he was in obvious pain if I tried. i did manage a course of a month one week of ointment, one week none, one week ointment. Kept that going for a bit and he would seem to do better then it come back double down. He finished out his life not suffering, I mean yes I know he struggled a little but for the most part he was happy, not in disabling pain, kept eating and taking water.

He wasn't awake one morning toward Christmas last year. He was a Lab Pit Bull mix, such a sweetheart it wasn't funny. He would take to breaking free every once in a while. Oddly he came right back to me, even knowing I was going to lock him up again. I kept him tethered in a barn. I would take him on walks at times though. then too he took his own runnings. He showed up, up in the barn the exact day my stepfather had died. Her granddad fussed at me, shook his head when I sat down and Thistle come right to me, sat in my lap. "man, that's a dog, Barn."

Wife tells me it took about three weeks for me to stop bawling inside when i had to bury him. i still feel rough at times, missing him.
