With the holidays right around the corner I thought Id share another classic recipe with you guys. Biscochito's also sold at Mama Js under the name Christmas cookies. the key ingredient though all of them are required is FA Anise. The smell of anise reminds me of one thing and one thing only, my mom's biscochito cookies. These little round New Mexican sugar cookies are the only thing I wanted during the holidays and I could smell them a mile away once they started baking and she would have to hide them and bring them out a little at a time or I would eat them all in a night lol. New Mexico is the home of many great things Hatch green chile, sopapillias and the state cookie the biscochito. I think this recipe is pretty spot on and have eaten many thousands of these in my life I feel like Im a pretty good judge of it :p this vape takes me right back to my childhood waiting for mom to pull these out of the oven. This requires a steep of a minimum 2-3 weeks but trust me its worth it especially if you love biscochitos as much as I do.
    enjoy!!!!

    1.5% FA Anise
    0.8% FA Cinnamon Ceylon
    1.5% FA Cookie
    0.5% FA meringue
    0.5% FA orange
    0.3% FA Red Wine

aaaaand time for a possible variation lol. as my buddy Ron has mentioned to me BCF does not carry red wine ... so if you do not already have it a possible replacement might be FLV sangria. I tried it in his night train and they are not direct replacements it does taste pretty good and I can see it working in this. or you could make some of his night train concentrate and use that :) I guess Ill try a 2.0 recipe using that one and report back at some point or anyone could give it a whirl and let us all know :D

Of course I'm missing one ingredient, the Red Wine. And now you inform me you don't carry it... Redemption however, as I do have the Sangria! No more time for mixing tonight, maybe tomorrow. I do know I will not use 6.3% of the Sangria, more like 0.6%. It's one of Flavorah's stronger ones. I'll let you know in 2 to 3 weeks... :giggle:

I’m thinking maybe .1(or less) of the FLV Sangria as as substitute for me. Night Train flavor concentrate for an Urban Jungle version of this fine recipe. :D

Been doing a little online searching and this is a cookie where every family or region has their own recipe. I've seen some that use whiskey, others that use brandy, and some that use rum. Hmmm, looks like there could be some playing around on a theme here...

For those who may want to make the cookies, this one looks pretty authentic since it uses lard and brandy. You can't go wrong with pork fat and booze...

Bonus you also get a recipe for Posole and Empanadas with the above link! It's Posole and tamale season in my daughter's in-laws family right now... I must resist, I'm fat enough...:giggle:

Mixed up 3 10 ml bottles, one with FLV Sangria 0.2%, one with Smoky Blue Brandy 0.2%, and one with FA Jamaica Rum 0.6%. I went low on the booze since it sounds like that should be a back note, not the star which is the Anise and cookie. Should be ready when I get back from New Orleans, Jackson, and Little Rock in two weeks... Should have enough time to mix up some more for Christmas.:bliss:

Made 10 ml with Jamaican Rum 0.5% instead of Red Wine. Quite tasty after 3 days. Making 30 ml to age the recommended 2-3 weeks. Thanks for the recipe.

ahhh pinon. gonna miss that this year. I used to take the family down around Santa Fe by Glorieta during season just to pull over and pick pinon. the kids loved those trips. I've been in green chile withdrawals in north carolina also. I brought 50 lbs when we moved here but it didnt survive the uhaul trip. to ship 25 lbs out here is like 80 bucks, so sad lol. gonna bite the bullet soon though because if I hear the word anihiem or pablano one more time I might snap. lol

By watching TV... as well as learning about normal life in NM... I picked up some Fine DIY mixing tips too!

    For example...

For the suggested minimum 14 days of Biscochito juice aging, I still need to wait 4 days.

I bet they grow some damn good chile down in Cruses...I like the chile grown down south around Demming,Lordsburg, Hatch...I like the chile from around there better than the stuff grown in the north....I think the heat and dry really helps.I've grown chile up here in Oakland...it was good, but......

Now live in ABQ But was born and raised in Truth or Consequences until the Navy took me away.

Everyone knows the best chile comes from Derry and Arrey Just south of Hatch. Hatch was just a glory hound and Convinced everyone that they were the best.
