Wicking issues

Been using organic cotton. I don't know if my wicks just suck or what. I can't manage a few toots at .7 ohms without burning my wicks/throat. I'd love to try Ready X but it's costly, I hear. Has anyone tried
cellucotton (100% rayon)? Is Japanese cotton that much better? I'd appreciate any feedback.
Thanks

Use organic and cellucotton. Like both. TriedjJapanese it's ok but doesn't last (for me). What are you wicking? RDA or RTA?

I think the rayon is superior compared to organic cotton. It seems to hold more and wick better. I am curious to try Japanese cotton as it is also supposed to be better than regular organic. I'm not as familiar with drippers, but you want to make sure there is enough wick and it is not threaded too tightly through the coil, as you don't want to choke off the flow.I am assuming that you have it properly saturated.

Hey thanks, EM. It seems that when I saturate it well the juice just doesn't want to wick up. In other words, the ends of the wick stay real wet, while the part near the coil dries out quickly. Sounds like the quality of the cotton. I'm trying cellucotton next.

Thank you, good to hear. My cotton wasn't swelling much anyway - it was just sagging.

Careful how you say things. Lol. Never know how you'll be quoted

Just remember you only get 3-8 toots before you have to drip more.

Since you said in another thread you are using a magma make sure you are not using too much wick. I trim mine so it just hits the bottom and wicking is much better now.

Have you tried it yet?
Yes I have sir. I really like how it holds up to the heat being the low ohm, high watt, tank cracking chain vaper that I am.

All of that plus that for less than $20 including $&H you get pretty much a lifetime supply of the stuff. Very easy to work with and you can boil and dry a couple of month supply in less than 30 minutes!

I hear that sir! When it showed up my sweetie asked if I was going to start weaving a sweater.:D I said, "no, just trying to stop cursing so much". Gave away my Koh Gen Do and Cotton Bacon after just three builds with the Ramie. I'm hooked.

Ha ha. Guess what? Trying out the rayon and getting way more than 3-8 toots. This rocks. I'll remember to count next time.

The secret to using cotton is to fluff it as much as possible, and when adding juice, do NOT touch the tip of the dropper/needle to the cotton. I get much more "mileage" from Japanese cotton, but the standard does just fine for me as well. I don't bother with organic, I just use what I find at the local Walgreens.

Another thing I do is....don't wrap cotton all over the drip well. tuck the ends under the coil, and leave a gap between the coil and the posts. It is good to completely fill the area underneath the coil.

Think of rain and trees. In the summer, not very much rain gets to the ground because of the leaves...the rain runs along the branches and leaves and most of it just stays there. Rain runs completely off a flagpole. Same with cotton. The more fibres exposed to juice, the more it will hold and keep in the vicinity of the coil.

Yes, I've heard that. I tried folding the ends over the top of the coil once! Just playing. Nothing extraordinary happened.

Why can't u touch the dropper to the cotton?

Also, I heard to keep air underneath the coil. How do u do that with cotton there? So many techniques!
The reason is to maintain airflow. Air underneath the coil is not in motion, air flowing across the top of the coil combines with RISING atomised juice and due to the shape of the top cap, begins to swirl into a vortex (this is especially true in dual coil setups). This serves two purposes, it thickens the vapour, and also cools it down. So the two important factors are: Air volume, and air flow! :)

Even if you're gentle? So delicate! So - you create weather systems? Kool, let's talk
Merely dripping onto the wick is key. Some people think juice needs to be mashed into the wick. Remember, liquids naturally want to flow along a surface.

when you draw, you create low pressure in the cap. This is being flooded by incoming air from two equal directions, 180 degrees to each other, and 90 degrees to the outflow. Mass cannot occupy the same place at the same time, so the opposing air masses have to bypass each other. Since this is occurring in a cylinder, a vortex is formed.

Oh, I see. So this will still happen if you have a single coil setup with two opposing airflow holes open? It would, right?

I usually do not disagree with you @Ace

There are many ways some people I know use non-resistant wire to kinda hang coils around I have a friend at a shop that does the craziest things you can get non resistant wire its pretty cheat its basically umm silver.. I have tried it but have seen little verifiable result yours may be different

I said this because you opened by saying 'with a dual coil build 'so I thought it had something to do with the coils but you are referring to the airflow of a dual coil build. Thank you. That was a great and informative lesson. I appreciate the time u put in.

What I meant to type was "Rdas that are designed for dual coil builds" :)

putting in the time is what makes us a family of vapers! The more we share our experiences, good and bad, the more we prosper.
Thanks again. And on that toot I must take my last for the evening and close my eyes. Good Night

Quarterly event at a local B&M, there were about 12 competing and twice as many spectators. We seriously need to have more fans as it only took about 5 minutes before visibility reached 0

I've seen the militia. How did you have the holes bored? .05! Never built that low and never tried Tigre wire.
