Proving that your point of English not being the official language is incorrect!

How? Because the Founders wrote in English over 200 years ago? Proves nothing. The United States does not have an official language. It's primarily English speaking (roughly 80%) with the bulk of the remaining 20% being Spanish speakers.

Even the Founders knew that society is a shifting entity. They built their documents to form a dynamic system that can roll with large scale changes in the social fabric.

I want to have to stab my steak to keep it from running away. If it doesn't bleed when I cut it, it is too well done.

Amen!!!! I broke down about a month ago and bought me a very nice T-Bone (Hey it was on sale too! Woot!) and I cooked that sucker perfectly Beautifully browned on the outside and bleeding like a freshly killed cow on the inside... It was heaven. And my dog got his first taste of steak... and bone. :cow::alligator:

Why call me that? I've stated, more than once, that I am an Atheist and Antitheist.

Do you lack reading comprehension?

Agree, and the practice of debate, whether you convince your opponent or not is the practice of critical thinking. Of challenging your own beliefs. Why? Because, as any good debater knows, you better be able to make the case for BOTH sides of the issue or you'll fail every time.
Is name calling & belittling a sign of a good debater? If so stand by here comes the :poop::poop::poop::poop::poop::poop: talking!:headbang:

That's my point! Make it so you have to speak English to become a citizen! As far as paying more taxes you wouldn't have to if you didn't spend millions printing things in 8 or 10 different languages! As far as English not being the official language than why are founding documents written in it?

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say......
Perhaps it was because the folks who came here as the King's subjects were English?

You do realise that Einstein was a self professed Agnostic and that he believed in the "pantheistic" god of Baruch Spinoza?

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Religious_views_of_Albert_Einstein

I can't find if he ACTUALLY said what your meme states, but if he did, he wasn't saying what you think he was saying.
so what you are saying is .....he wasn't an aethists he just wasn't a baptist....wow....hey while your looking stuff up look up what Max Planck said too. Since I have never shared with you my thoughts on the matter you have no clue as to what I believe you have assumptions and bigotry.

Have you checked the constitution & our laws lately? Last time I checked they were all written in English then translated to other languages!:shades:
Yes. I am very aware of our founding documents that were written in English. The King's English that is mostly derived from Latin.

....while there is a very real and brutal religious fandamntalist movement among Islam you focus on of all things chistanity...while slavery rises up again in the world and christian childeren are put on slave blocks you worry about the bapstist down the street...while ethnic cleansings pile up committed by jihadists you get hysterical over the jehovah witnessess.....LOL yeah lots a luck selling that line. It is not Christians that are on college campuses trying to stifle free speech......
Christians, are the majority in this nation. If that changes, then I will alter what I wrote.

Trying to equate my comment on what is happening in THIS COUNTRY with what is happening in other countries is a false comparison.

I wasn't speaking on religion globally. I was specifically talking about the United States.

Just because you want to try to smear me, doesn't make what you're saying correct.

Continue flailing in impotent rage. It is hilarious.

chapter and verse I'm waiting.

Because you're too dim to do anything but repeat what was said to you regardless of whether it applies or not? Because that's what you're doing right now.

Man. No wonder some of you didn't survive the OUTSIDE. I guess this is where self styled geniuses go when they don't get to flame and insult people instead of backing up their assertions?

You live in the most comforable country in the world the richest, the most free in every sense of the word with the most advantages and a Christian nation, and in the midst of what 99% of the women of this planet would kill for ...scratch that what 99% of all the people who have ever lived would kill for ....you whine...you whine like a child about some imagined boogeyman....while real shit goes down all around the world you whine....you live in the indulgence of freedom you do because there is something about chistanity that makes it compatible with the idea of the republic and freedom, not just compatible but there is something about it that has contributed to the march toward human freedom....if life was really fair I mean truly fair you with the native intelligence you hav would be picking through a garbage heap looking for anything to eat and living on a bowl of rice a day like so many in this world do....but life is not fair lucky for you and me.you are pathetic. Can you imagine how many people look at what you have people in wars in famine in poverty and could hear you whine like a child can you imagine how their hearts must break for such blind ingratitude.

I would gladly quote chapter & verse/page if you could point me to the book that contains the information you speak of! Or is this another half-assed attempt to make someone else look stupid! Because unless you have access to the founding fathers personal letters & diaries (all of them) questioned information does not exist to my knowledge!

Did you forget the etymology already? Atheists who leave open the possibility of deities are strong agnostics, not atheists.

And you are a pussy for not admitting it.
If it makes you feel better, you can call me an agnostic if you want.
Unless someone provides scientific evidence, I have no reason to believe in magic.
I can't prove magic doesn't exist, but I'm willing to bet my after life.

.......not this one, though. It's the only one I know I got and I still have a lot of things I want to do before my spin on this rock is over.

Well, George Washington's right hand man, leader of the battle of Yorktown (pivotal battle in the war of independence) and the author of the majority of the Federalist papers (51 of 85) was a orphan, bastard immigrant.
He spoke English already, but it's a good thing he also spoke French, as he was very involved in gaining aid from France.
Without the aid from France, .....well, you know the rest.

As the government of the United States of America is not in any sense founded on the Christian Religion

Article 11

http://avalon.law.yale.edu/18th_century/bar1796t.asp

Also please, take notice that the original was printed in Arabic.
An official document for our newly founded United states of America written in a language other that English.
Who'da thunk it. ;)

Probably because it was their native tongue.

And again, I say, good thing he knew French...... Our biggest French ally didn't speak English.
And the founders didn't make him learn it before accepting his (their) help.

The treaty was/is with the united states of America.
It is law.

This Constitution, and the laws of the United States which shall be made in pursuance thereof; and all treaties made, or which shall be made, under the authority of the United States, shall be the supreme law of the land;

Article 6

Treaty of Peace and Friendship between the United States of America and the Bey and Subjects of Tripoli of Barbary

.....you don't have to shut up.
Shutting up shuts down conversations.

And it seems to me that all the Immigrants to this country in the past have learned English while probably speaking their native tongue in their homes! The Amish are an example of this! Although most now were born & raised here they speak mostly Dutch I believe in their homes & communities but still know & speak English fluently! Why can't the speaking & understanding of English be a requirement to be a citizen & get a drivers license? Don't want to take their heritage or culture just would like them to respect ours!
Edit; As i would respect theirs should I choose to move to a non English speaking country!

Yes. I am very aware of our founding documents that were written in English. The King's English that is mostly derived from Latin.

Umm... the latin in English came quite late; mostly english was derived from saxon, old norse, old danish, and then norman-french... the latin and greek influences came much later when the classics were rediscovered -- Renaissance era.

Thing is.....those other countries aren't placing that limitation on you as a requirement to immigrate.
Would I want to know the language of a country I want to live in?
Yes. I would.
But I would never put myself in a place where I feel I have the right to tell others how to live.
I am a lover of freedom and liberty.

On this issue I agree.

We speak English here and if you love this country enough to want to immigrate and become a citizen, you need to pick up the language plain and simple.

And if you entered this country illegally you need to GO! Since you committed a crime just by sneaking in.

Do it right, learn the language, get a Visa and work on getting legal citizenship.

It may be hard but we still welcome folks that do it up right!

May I ask what state you live in? Because if you live in any state with a southern border I believe your feelings might be a little different! Not only that there are areas of a town by L.A. named Rowland Heights where if you don't know Vietnamese you wouldn't know what any of the stores are!

Well... it's entirely possible that there were latinate influences on the saxon tongue, since they immediately followed the roman occupation (and the saxons had their own brushes with the roman empire, in their own countries)... but it was perhaps only a slight "flavoring" rather than the wholesale importation that occurred later. Also, since the romans arrived at a time when the celts were in charge, there are probably latinate influences on the various flavors of gaelic... but since I don't know anything about gaelic, I can't really be sure of that. The main thing that identifies english however is the germanic structure of our syntax, rather than romantic (from latin).

Boy. For someone who was so full of confidence and bluster you sure turned out to be a limp bag of hot air... again.

The evidence is there for anyone to check. Your lame insults won't work here. This post (like almost all your posts) don't even address the topic.
