Sigelei 213W first impressions

I got my Sigelei 213W yesterday from my local B&M. I got a great deal, $115 with 2 LG HE2's. First thing I did was take my TF-RTA G2 off my RX200 and fire it up in the store. Ahh, that new mod smell!!

The mod feels real nice in your hand, it is on the small side for a 2 battery mod, and is very light. Coming from the RX200, this was a welcome change. I had gotten use to the weight of the RX and the lightness of this mod (due to the carbon fiber and zinc alloy body) made me smile. Aesthetically speaking, this mod is beautiful. I have the CF and gunmetal version. Form and fit is perfect. No battery rattle, very tight tolerances between the CF body and the zinc alloy frame. The battery door is a welcome departure from the magnetic panels that have become the industry standard. Overall, the mod is very sturdy while maintaining its lightness.

The display is well placed in the form and is very easy to read. It displays your wattage (when in power mode) or your temp setting (when in TC mode), coil resistance, voltage, amperage, individual battery voltage and total battery percentage on a 100 point scale. It also has a slider that shows battery drain in real time. Very well thought out and easy to discern. The fire button is on the face of the mod opposite the 510 connector apex. The + and - buttons are above the screen in a recess of the zinc alloy frame. They are mounted fairly flush with the frame, it would be difficult to pocket fire this mod, even if you did not have the fire button locked in the software.

The top mounted 510 connector sits forward opposite the fire button. A full size TF-RTA fits with room to spare. I have seen where people said a 25mm tank will fit without overhang. I don't have any tanks that size, so I can't speak on that point.

Day one is in the books and so far, it is a success! My RX200 is in the box and taking a vacation. Battery longevity has been fine. I got a full day out of the HE2's while vaping between 90-110W. I have not messed with TC mode yet, but I am currently playing around with the warmup feature.

I'll add to this post as I gain more experience with this mod.

Just got mine today, think you got a pretty good deal from a B&M store, I asked around here, and they want $155 just for the mod, I ended up paying $97 from origin vapes for the sig 213 and 2 lg browns, now just gotta wait for the batteries to charge to have a play with it :)

Nice mod though!

I agree on overpriced. At $100.0 it's put itself in the range of competition with DNA devices. Granted, it does appear to have some great advanced features, such as pre-heat, TFR, and numerous TCR/TFR profiles which to the best of my knowledge were previously only available on DNA devices. I also like the looks of it, but couldn't see spending $100.00 on it. I'd rather spend just a bit more and get some type of DNA based device. The primary reason? I have little faith in Sigelei supporting the device and providing firmware updates to fix any issues, and provide further enhancements. Why do I feel this way? A few reasons :

  • Sigelei to the best of my knowledge has NEVER provided firmware updates.
  • One reviewer mentioned that although the site selling the device claimed firmware updates, the manual, the box containing the mod, and Sigelei's own website make NO mention of supporting firmware updates, all only mentioned balanced 2 amp charging.
  • All the material for the device lists it's acceptable low resistance as .1ohm??! It does TCR/TFR, it supports NI200(Nickle).... Ahhh... Good luck with that. Unless you use some really high gauge wire(30 or higher), I have no idea how you could do dual coils.... MOST devices support at least .05ohm in TC. Some even lower. Now, I don't use Nickle, but for those that do, not on this device. Makes you wonder what were they thinking? Example NI200, 3mm id, dual coils 10 wraps = .107ohm, 28 Gauge = .069 Firmware update, maybe????
  • The device while manufactured by Sigelei, was not designed by Sigelei, nor is the chip controlling the device. The actual designer, and creator of the chip is Suprimo. Ironically, one reviewer also mentioned that there is zero branding on the device. So, it doesn't say Sigelei, nor does it say Suprimo. The ONLY branding mentioned was Sigelei flashed on the screen when initially powered on. Why does all of this matter? Simple, support for this device probably won't be from Sigelei it will be from Suprimo since it's their chip, and they designed the mod........So now we have a device with a chip and design by one company, manufactured and marketed by yet another company, and neither saw fit to put their names on it??? Think Wismec/Jaybo....
  • The device isn't priced right in my opinion. I'm not sure what's going on, but the price I see on various sites varies from $79.00 all the way to $149.00 with the average price being about $99.00....
Anyway, if I were to see some support(firmware update- address the .1ohm issue), and a price of around $70.00, then I'd consider buying it.

My main point is, I don't have a lot of faith in Sigelei supporting this device, and it's NOT even clear IF the device does support firmware updates. I've looked on their website, zero documentation for the Sigelei 213, no manual, etc... Even the link for the manual for the Sigelei FUCHAI 200W is bad, it brings up a PDF for he MINI ZMAX(whatever that is). Doesn't instill much confidence.

Here is the ONLY info on the Sigelei website about the Sigelei 213...

I love the look of this device but I'm waiting for confirmation of firmware updates. In this day and age no firmware updates is a deal breaker for me.

On top of that:
It really does seemed to be priced a little on the high side. Heck I just received a VT133 (DNA200 - 2 x 18650) yesterday that was on sale for $88 and with a coupon code I had it came out to $75. My Reuleaux DNA200 was only $113 shipped (both mods came from Ecig.com in the USA). I'm trying to figure out why this is so expensive especially considering I've never even heard of the chip manufacturer. On top of that, common sense tells me it's not going to be able to hit it's advertised wattage with two 18650's (213 strikes me as a gimmick to entice those caught up it in the watts race).

Look, I'm not saying it's a bad mod, just seems to be a tad overpriced. I would also need to have it out on the market for awhile to make sure it's all that's advertised (new chip company and all).

Cheers,
Steve

I have a Sigelei 150TC that has made me a big Sigelei fan because it has withstood quite a beating, drops on to concrete, you name it and still works flawlessly and looks decent too! But I agree, this one is still too high but I have little doubt that like most other mods, it will drop significantly in price after it has been on the market a while. So when it does, then I will probably add this one to the collection because my 150TC is still my favorite of everything else I have personally tried for sub-ohm. And no, I haven't tried any of the DNA200 mods yet, those all seemed so pricey that I haven't ventured there yet since my Sigelei apparently is keeping me pretty damn happy. There is always room for improvement however.

I think this mod has so much going for it.

Preheat function will become an industry standard.
Build quality appears to be exemplary.
Might be the smallest multi 18650 mod out there.
TFR.
2 amp balanced charging.
IMHO sexy as hell.

As to the cons that people are mentioning...

.1ohm for TC; who cares, Nickel and TI suck anyways.
213 watts "unsafe, gimmicky"; whatevs, I vape 75-120w like most normal people:p
$75 price tag is "too much"; build quality is worth something in my book (REAL carbon fiber?), chip does useful things that even the vaunted DNA200 doesn't, for less money.
Firmware support; unless you have a crystal ball, it's hard to knock it for this... besides, if it works good now (seems to, besides some minor quibbles), what's the need?

Seems to be a much nicer mod than the Reuleaux, so to anyone hoping for a $40 price tag, good luck.

@Steamhead

I agree with most of what you're saying, EXCEPT about the firmware updates, .1ohm issue, and your conclusions.

The point about .1ohm is that the mod claims to support Nickle, BUT it can't really support Nickle with .1ohm. SO.... how much thought really went into this?!?! ... the claim about Nickle is pretty much false, since it would be pretty hard to do dual coils in Nickle, and be .1 ohm or higher!!! Therefore, they are either lying, or incompetent......Pick one... As far as Nickle and Titanium suck, well that's your opinion, some people still use it....I don't, but those people that do need to be aware, no dual coil Nickle builds on this mod!

The issue about firmware updates....Ok, buy the device, have ANY issue that could be fixed with a firmware update, BUT the device doesn't support it. If you owned the device, it has an issue and then no firmware updates, how important is the feature?

As for price... Give it about another 4 weeks or so, when the now low price of $70.00 becomes the regular price, and the sale price is lower...Also, some sites are selling it for $139.00 while others less than $70.00....

Finally, as far as I know this device does nothing more/better than a DNA200 device, and in fact does less. What were you referring to?

Pre-Heat, has it..
TFR has it, and can download it from Steam-Engine based on your coil build, then just upload it to the mod using escribe...
Balanced charging, has it.....

Finally, the MAIN thing about Sigelei is to the best of my knowledge they do NOT make their own chips. Go look at the reviews for some of their other mods....You'll hear mentioned various chips being used, including Yihi.....and Sigelei has NEVER had firmware updates... As far as Suprimo the maker of the chip, no idea...they don't even seem to have a website, just facebook.....

My 213 in TCR Mode, M4 and M5 do not work, cannot input any values. M1, M2, M3 work fine, anybody else noticed this behavior, do I have a dud?

.1ohm limit for TC: I agree, it's rediculous. I'm just saying, personally, I couldn't give a shit less. Zero interest in Ni or Ti. Not sure why anyone still is. I guess reasons and stuff.

Updates: No one even knows one way or another if it's possible. So far the only statements we have are that it IS possible. Until the manufacturer says it ISN'T possible, that's the direction I'm gonna lean.

I'm not sure what issues I might have "down the road" that could be fixed with a firmware update. As of now, it seems most are happy, and the firmware looks to be working correctly, minus some jumpy voltage monitoring, which seems to be from people not being used to real-time monitoring, and the occasional misfire. Either way, we don't know that updates aren't coming/possible.

Price: Hey, if someone's dumb enough to not shop around and pay $140 instead of $80, then more power to the retailer. Capitalism, baby.

DNA: Sure, it's got preheat. All you gotta do is hook it up to your laptop :p Preheat is definitely something I'd like some on-the-fly access to, and the DNA doesn't give you that option.

Sigelei: Have they ever made anything WORTH updating? The 150T didn't even have a USB. None of their recent mods have been very well received. This mod is head and shoulder above anything they've made before, and I expect it will sell pretty darn well. Increased interest may translate to increased support, I'd be surprised if it didn't.

Also, TechnoGeek, in that same video you posted where the guy agrees with your cons, he goes on to enthusiastically say that it's one of his favorite devices, and he probably has a ton. Considering the price, that's a pretty good endorsement.

Forgot to add, I got some gold bling headed my way!!! Couldn't resist any more :D

Like what Hank has?
Too damn close to the barrel?
Yes but the tip I ordered is a millimeter or 2 taller, but its a friction fit and the edging is thinner so it should be wider then what Hank has..

Probably not...but it may fit the goon clone that has the similar sized tip, not the 510 tipped version.

Here's the tip I bought:

Its called a Kennedy Dragons Tip, you can find a bunch of different color/width/height's of them on Ebay....I went for a copy of the Black Goons wide tip but they have it a bit taller if you want it and thinner, and metal versions...I may get a Brass version tip soon to match

Had a chance to hold one of these beauty's at a local store and wow, I really do want one but not at there asking price. Crazy how light it is, makes my IPV5 feel like a porker.

I pretty much set my price limit at $60, maybe $70 out the door for one of these, if it gets than low then it is mine, if not then no big loss. I really have to get it out of my mind though, the light weight sure would feel great in my pocket.

I have to say that it is much better looking in person, I wasn't impressed or interested from pics on the web.

Was tempted to pull the trigger on one of these when i saw ecig.com had them for under $70 w/coupon, but decided to hold out for black.

As others have stated that is pretty much my self imposed limit to what i'd want to spend though. The preheat option is interesting, but not interesting enough (imo) to warrant overspending on a loosing quoted "upgrade" to what i already bought 6 months ago (and is still kicking just fine).

Hand check!

Damn this thing is super light! Coming from carrying a Reuleaux in the pocket for the last few week, I hardly even know it's there! I'd be willing to bet it's lighter than my 50w zero clone, even with double the batteries inside!

...and it is definitely real carbon fibre, one look in person makes that pretty obvious.
