I finally took the plunge and started mixing my own juice. I copy catted eight different recipes today. Two out of the eight called for Sucralose. The sucralose I have is clear as can be, however the two juices I used it in are cloudy. The other six are clear to Amber in color, not opaque at all. Is the cloudiness normal?

Not normal for Sweeteners, where did you get the sucralose from, as some of the stuff you get from the store might have "other things" added.

I got it from nude nicotine.

How did you mix them? Power mixers make cloudy e-Liquids and I heat to 140 degrees for an hour or less to speed aging and infusion.

Juice shouldn't generally be opaque - although anise does make juices cloud somewhat.

I had mostly fruity cream mixes, one was a pumpkin cheese cake. I shook them all by hand in new clean 15 or 30 ml bottles. Maybe I'll just let them set over night and see how it goes.

I got it from nude nicotine.

If it's the pre-made liquid Sweetener it should be OK.

But like Steve said, the powdered stuff can have some problems.

nope. It's been a couple hours now. we shall see in the morning.

Take one put it in a cup of Hot Tap water not over a 150 degrees. I bet it will clear very fast. You never said what you used to mix. Infusion takes time and heat speeds up the process especially with High VG mixes.

Just the other day I did a Coconut which was a white cloudy finished product after mixing with a battery mixer. One hour tap water and cleared right up shaking in between when refilling hot water.

this was my thinking as well and something like sweetener can many times 'separate out' if it goes through a temperature change.

I see you used the sucralose and a quick Google search came up with that causing cloudiness and requiring a few days to infuse or clear up. So time is required.

I am surprised that heat did not speed up the process though. Maybe you did not maintain a temperature of 140 degrees at least?

I came back to this thread to see how the last 8 hours has affected the clarity if any and noticed my last comment never went.

it appears some of the cloudiness has lifted. But after a small taste test... So far it's a fail. Ugh. So.. So bad. Like really bad. Horrible even. There's no amount of steeping that will fix this. Lol. I've had success with five out of eight so far. I think I will stick to tried and true recipes for a while. I made a unicorn milk clone, muffin man clone, mega melons clone and a marshmallow man clone which has a real strong custard taste so far. The peach cheesecake will need a good steep. Keeping my fingers crossed on that one.

I think my % was off on that one. If I recall the recipe called for 7% pumpkin velvet (nude nicotine) and 2% cheese cake graham (tfa). I'm new to mixing so the percentages, as far as how strong flavors will be, don't make a whole lot of sense to me yet. Still have a lot to learn.

I got that cloudy appearance a couple of times when I first started out, it eventually went away but it took longer than a week. Turns out I used to much of the flavoring, both were Inawera flavors. Neither one tasted good as well even after the cloudiness went away.

Never tried nude nic's flavors but I know there extracted in VG and ethyl alcohol. I am learning from experience with Real Flavors VG based flavors that they need a lot more steeping than traditional PG based flavors. We are talking about 1 to 4 weeks steeping time so patience with VG based flavors is a requirement.

DIY e-juice is a lot of fun though and I don't miss buying overpriced juice anymore.

If anything, I've found Nude's flavor recommendations to be on the strong side - their extracts are plenty potent, and do require the heat bath/shaking routine more than others to integrate due to the VG base. Give them time, maybe back off on the concentration a bit, and you should be in better shape. Welcome to both you and @notownkrawler (hoping that's an off-road reference from a quad/ZJ guy) to the world of DIY.

If your flavor is too strong, more base liquid will mellow it out - VG or PG. But if you have a target nic level, you'll want to add some to keep your levels constant. What I'm talking about it heat - it thins your liquid so shaking will blend it better.

ZJ collection? Intriguing...I've just got one (98 4.0) at the moment, but I've picked up a handful of XJs and sold them all within a week to cool kids willing to overpay.
