E-LIQ Nicotine.

I recently purchased some concentrated nicotine from e-liq nicotine for the purpose of testing. I bought 1 oz and paid for the upgraded glass bottle. I mixed the concentrate down to 100mg/ml using PG. After mixing thoroughly, the base became cloudy. i let it sit for 24 hours, mixed it again. Still cloudy. I have used a lot of nicotine base and none of it was ever cloudy, so I contacted e-liq customer service and this is the result:

Possible the extraction could cause a reaction into cloudy.
I have had some flavors make the base milky and that was the first thing I checked, The cloudy never went away.
Just did not use that vendor/flavor again.

With the cloudy nic mix, though... if your base wasn't clouding up with other nic brands, yeah I wouldn't use it and it's a good head's up for anyone that's qualified/knowledgeable to work with pure.

Yup. That would be easy to check. Just put the nic in a clear glass bottle and look to see if it's cloudy by itself. If the nicotine is cloudy, it will make the base cloudy.

Yes, it is actually cloudy like you would see with lemonade. In my lab, I use a zero atmosphere orbital mixer as to not introduce any oxygen in the liquid. After mixing the bottle was allowed to rest for 24 hours. I get my PG and VG from a quality distributor and it has always been clear when mixing with Vapers Tec and Nude Nicotine. I just thought I would give E-liq.com a try because they are a little cheaper.

I'm an electrical engineer, and also have several other educational backgrounds in different fields. One of them IS NOT chemistry.
If I were talk to you about an intricate circuit; and, expect you understand the safety, as well as, other precautions, I would be doing you an extreme disservice. Likewise if you, or any chemist, were to speak to me about handling chemicals (outside of the petrochemical industry) I would look at you like you had 2 heads.

On this forum we see a lot of people who don't know, nor do they understand, any of either. With the august 8th date looming, i've seen an uptake in people that probably shouldn't be trusted putting on there own socks, trying to pull 60 amps from a 10a battery with a torn wrapper.

The same, I would imagine, is happening in diy. While some people may go a bit far, it is the responsibility of everyone to keep each other safe(kind of the point in being a community). I don't frequent DIY often, because I do my own thing, but,i have seen the equivalent of someone using those torn wrappers in a series mech with a 0.2 ohm build cussing because they know what they doing and I don't know shit.

Nobody has been harmed from DIY with pure nic. Nobody.
There have been injuries with exploding batteries.
The ONLY DIY nic death occured with 100mg/ml nic.

All three of those trends is likely to continue, fearmongering aside, as the regulations push people to DIY. It's just the natural result.

I'll go ahead and point out the obvious. Lower nic bases, such as 100mg/ml, will cause more poisonings than pure nic, as is already the case, simply because of the false consideration that 100mg/ml is safer and thus a more lax approach to it's use, like leaving it on a table without a cap for children to drink or the even more common juice at low levels. Like I said, those trends will continue.

Trying to demonize pure nic will do nothing to change that trend. It will make it continue as people falsely assume 100mg/ml is actually safer. It is not. Brow beating every person that mentions it on the forums does nothing to educating anybody. In fact, it's counter productive. It works as well as "Just say no" works for drugs.

The OP to me seems to know what he is doing and appears to have the proper equipment. For the rest of us mere mortals you need to be safe, 100 mg/ml tops. I don't mix with gloves any more, but I mix only 5 feet from a sink and I have plenty of vaper towels around, otherwise I would. My 100 mg nic is kept in the top shelf of a freezer that is on the top side of the fridge with no little kids around. When my kids give me grandkids I will need to rethink things once they are over 3 feet tall.

Fortunately I have been blessed in a career that allows me to handle caustic chemicals in the proper environment. But the last thing I would do is immediately attack someone online that is mixing down pure nic with the automatic assumption that they are "fucking around" with pure nicotine or "mixing in their garage" and then proceed to repeat talking points that I read somewhere online that aren't even accurate for my own pleasure. But the thing that I find fascinating is that the cretin said he "gives 2 shits" about the companies practices. Why would a person be so angry towards me, a qualified chemist, but NOT at all be concerned with the many companies out there that are selling pure nicotine to the average consumer? Oh an update on my cloudy Nic Base. So I used it to mix down some e-liquid at 12 mg and for some reason, when you mix it down it gets clear again. It seems to smell and taste okay so I guess I'm going to just use it, but in the future I will be buying my nicotine from somewhere else LOL!

I remember talking with you before, I knew you were aware of this stuff.

I actually appreciate the post as I've been thinking of trying them. I have lots of nic stored but have kept links for some 'outside' vendors in case nicotine becomes hard to come by in the near future. I might actually still order a small bit in the winter as I'm wondering if the heat during transport messed yours up.

Well you know what is weird is that when you take it from the bottle is is crystal clear, but after mixing it with PG it gets this lemonade look. It isn't brown or anything just cloudy. It looks just like a frosted glass bottle.

And also, I just listened to a podcast where they are now saying that Nicotine and flavors aren't even going to be disrupted by the FDA so we might not even have to stockpile.
