Hello, I am posting about my RX200, it has suffered from a fall of less than 3" (from console into the cupholder) and has serious malfunction. I am hoping this could be an easy fix, i haven't had this device long and i really like it. I will admit that although i am highly mechanically inclined, i am not well versed in electronics, even though you'd think as much vape stuff that i buy i would have a basic understanding of the guts...... anyway, let me explain what happened and i would crap rainbows if anyone could could troubleshoot this.
RX200, matched one day old 25r's at 3/4 power, plugged into cigarette charger( i know, i know, this is a terrible idea and have already lost a NEBOX the same way but i'm a paramedic and am stuck in a truck for 24hrs at a time, a porable NiteCore is comin soon), device is on flat surface next to empty cupholder and simply falls into holder as i turn. Mod landed on it's back where the single battery pyramids over the two others, usb plug is still connected and is facing straight up and, as far as know, did not seem to get impacted(but i can't say for certain, but i don't believe it's part of the equation). immediately pick up mod and try to vape, it says LOW BATTERY and the battery icon is empty(these batteries just came off the charger an hour prior so i knew this was not the case). The device then said LOCK and turned off. I should have stopped messing with it then, but i wasn't thinking clearly, turned it back on and showed same dead batteries, then lock and then off. At this time i noticed the body of the device is getting HOT!!! I remove batteries immediately and set mod down and let cool. I have a back-up mod in my bag, a basic Sigelei 50w, and thinking this may be a battery issue, i check each battery individually and they all show full battery and fire fine. I put the Wismec up until later.
Getting home and getting a chance to further investigate the RX200, i find that i can plug in the device and cycle through all menus/screens/options as the device usually works. As soon as i add batteries, the screen gets REALLY bright and device locks and shuts off and body of device is hot. So i can only assume/HOPE that the chip is still fine as is the USB etc. My thinking is this must be a short/damage to something in the back/battery area of the device. I did take front plate off and reveals no noticeable damage, have yet to remove the battery box held in by the top/bottom screws.
thanks for taking the time to read all of that, i was just trying to be thorough, i am hoping that some experienced hardware folks will know what this is right away. This happened Wednesday morn, immediately jumped online to replace it, but ordered a Cuboid instead since VAPORJOE sent me an email with a good coupon code. It was a very tough decision, especially with the new RX200 colors out now, but i felt that if the RX200 is this fragile it would be silly to immediately order another. Although i am initially impressed with my Cuboid that showed up today with lightning speed,I know that even though it's upgrade-able to 200w, it has more limits on power and i am really hating seeing my broke down RX200 weeping on my dresser(no way a knock on the Cuboid, super nice quality mod with a TON of features and TC's that seem to be more on point than the RX200, for like 36$ shipped to door in 48 hours). I have tools, solder/iron, multimeter(with SOME knowledge on how to use it, but not much) and confidence in being able to fix things, so please tell me what i'm looking for. While i wait for responses, ill try to find a Torx bit to remove the frame screws.
PS- after re-inserting the batteries the last time, IIRC the screen displayed TOO HOT(?) before shutting down, and i definitely smelled melting of plastic that seemed to coming from frontal area, but even after that it still works fine when only plugged in via usb with cells removed. These events of heating/locking/powering down happen in a matter of seconds or as soon as i press the fire button. I know i shouldn't have ket trying, but i just couldn't grasp how such a small event could cause a total failure, denial?? but only did it three times and really fast, hopefully i didnt damage something that could have otherwise been repaired.

. He refused my offers of money and/or goods and the package showed up in a day due to our close proximity. The mod looks brand new and is black unlike my current, and broken, white and cyan. My wife has been enjoying the Mad Hadder V2 and assumed ownership of the new device after i regrettably told her i could put in the cyan panels. We ordered the black/cyan mad hadder from fasttech and i will be back on my twisted until it arrives
glad to hear youre still vaping
