Debs posted on the lounge thread, she said it wasn't her that reported it, I felt for her, she's all by herself over there now but I can't post there anymore to talk to her, I can't even bring myself to PM there, it makes me feel angry to even look at that dam forum now.

So why do you have to wait for a fabricated holiday to enjoy that kind of meal? Move over here and you can have it the last weekend of Novulgar (Tanxgivin'). Hire a cook and a maid and ya can have it any dang time ya want.
We have a maid but she doesn't cook, your right but it's this silly English tradition, Turkey is only for Christmas, it's always been that way, it always will be that way to me. It wouldn't feel right eating Turkey in the summer, I know, crazy but that's how it is.
Infact we have certain meals that we only eat at certain times of the year, gray peas and bacon for bonfire night, pancakes on shrove tuesday (once a year)

I am sure that every country and culture within each country has traditions that they stick to all their lives. There is nothing wrong with that as long as it is OK with you. I do not celebrate any holidays. I have respect for a few, but I do not celebrate them. I am far more likely to eat something special on solstices and equinoxes than I am on any calendar-declared holiday. You only have pancakes one day a year? Wow! We have them whenever we feel like it. To me, food is a budget issue, not what the date is. I'd eat a lot more steaks and ham and lobster if it wasn't so darn expensive...

My ex insisted on this around New Year's, black eyed peas and cabbage for good luck and prosperity. I used to ask her when things were going bad if she bought the discount peas and cabbage cause the shit wasn't working. :giggle::giggle:

There are still a few people I like over there, but honestly, I don't have time to keep up with two forums. I might still cruise by there to follow a few threads, but that's about it for me

You have turkeys over there? Or do you import the leftover birds from Thanksgiving over here?:giggle:

I don't doubt her. I do not think she is lying. It is possible that the claim was made by Classy that a user turned us in just to cover up for R1.

I wouldn't be at all surprised that's how it happened. I can't imagine anyone in that thread who would freak over those posts and actually report them. I'm also surprised R1 is still around given that I don't know of any fans for him over there.

I do get that a forum needs some sort of moderation. But for the average general topic forum, the median age is maybe what, 20? (not counting reddit, that place is just way too creepy for me). But look at the nature of this forum. We're almost all ex smokers stopping after 20 or more years of smoking. The median age can't be much below 45, if that. Sure, there may be a few young cloud chasers, but we're a bunch of freaking adults. How much moderation do we need? What are going to try and do, strangle each other with adult Depends?

Moderation needs to be properly mated to the demographic (style of moderation, not the age of the moderators). Problem is, this is probably the first time R1 had responsibility over more than maybe 2 or 3 people in his life (if that). His moderating skills, such as they are, sure don't reflect any knowledge or experience in people management (watch, it'll turn out he was really the head of an HR department somewhere, eh, that could still fit the bill).

One the plus side it's quicker to get that BIG turkey dinner :bomb:

Ah but yours has nothing to do with vaping LOL
:rolleyes::facepalm:
Actually I was talking about vaping. If I can get her to try the Merlin, then maybe the Serpent Mini, then move up to the Boreas, or maybe an RDA since the Mutation X v4 is what started me on the path to the darkside. I figure little baby steps, and before you know it she'll be chucking clouds.:D

Yeah, she posted that then disappeared the rest of the day, even from her other normal threads.

Amen to that. Was in Wally world earlier today and had to check to see if they had any turkeys out. I can eat turkey year around!

I fix that same dinner but with chicken rather than turkey, if I take a mind to -- I love taters and gravy and stuffing -- down here, usually called "dressing" -- and we always have some chicken breasts in the freezer. No big thang. :D

But many times, I just make fried chicken, which puts the grain part of the meal right on the chicken. :)

Exactly why I stopped going, though I did pop in a week or so ago to read the thread about the relative risks about smokeless tobacco, snuff vs. Snus, etc, and saw one of the regulars give ol fuckhead a real set down, and I didn't see it rebutted at all. That was fun. :D But I refuse to login anymore. The fugees thread is as good as, if not better than, the old tootle puffer thread, and now this one too, with the wompers, so I don't need that black hole of assholery in my life.

Lots of people on there and here going thru tough times...
I am sure that we all know someone who is going through a tough time every day, but that doesn't turn them into assholes (pardon my language, but sometimes it just has to come out that way).

That's what we called it in Orygun too.

I thought Brits ate goose for xmas. I've heard it's real greasy; lamb chops are too, but really good anyway. :D (ETA: and having once been accosted by a huge gander when his mate and younguns were nearby, I have ZERO! compunction about the idea of eating one of those bastards!)

Going through tough times, or even being a nice guy, has nothing to do with moderation. Even if it's purely voluntary, when you take on the role of moderator, nice guy, bad guy, good or tough times, you still have to treat it objectively as a job and not somewhere to work out your issues. It's fine for someone to work out their issues as a member, and it's fine for a mod to do when acting as a member, but not when acting as a moderator. Unless that in fact is the tone of moderation desired, in which case it's been real....

Don't know about the kidneys, but Haggis is Scottish. They can only run around the Highlands in one direction because their left legs are shorter than the right... :giggle:

I used to feed my ex's cats, and actually the kidney dinner smelled better than any of the others. I'd probably at least try it, but maybe not haggis. (ETA: once you've eaten snails and raw oysters, most things become tolerable... but nah, not haggis.)

RDA's are perfect for getting into higher power... Build it, Wick It, the start vaping at different wattage's, and you only have one AFC to deal with on a simple RDA like a Petri, Freakshow etc. Some of the newer, bigger RTA's scare some off...

OMG, NOOOOOO! They must have done something to the cat food. We got beef kidneys once for the dogs, and the foul stench took DAYS to get out of the house. And that was when I still smoked, so I couldn't smell much. I mean, EEEEEUUUUUWWWWWW. (No offense to anyone who actually likes kidney here. But really, how COULD you?)

What, the Scotsmen run around with one leg shorter? You mean there's FEET in haggis? I thought it was sheep stomach stuffed with guts and brains and other yucky stuff... o_O
When I was in Scotland, the locals love to have a good time with the tourists, kind of like when we send idiots on Snipe hunts. They describe Haggis "as if" it were a small furry animal that can only run around the hills counter-clockwise because the left legs are shorter than the right legs, so you'll know them if you ever see one. I loved Highlanders. Their sense of humor is as warped as mine.

That's pretty much how I feel about liver -- when I once waited tables at a steakhouse, if anyone ordered liver & onions I had to be fancy and carry the tray overhead, just to avoid the stench! But I didn't find the smell of the kidneys offensive at all. I mean, it was cat food, I wasn't gonna eat it... but it was far less stinky than all the others!

They need a Scottish version of that show 'Last of the Summer Wine'.
