Okay so I have an smok al85 with a crown tank and I have the .25 SS coil installed. These coils are supposed to be able to be used in temperature control mode. So I go to mode>temp>strength (70 watts)>coil - TC - SS> and then it says TC - SS with a range of 0.00050 - 0.00200 (I have no idea what this setting means). I cannot get it to produce vape before it locks out and says "temp protected". For the setting I don't understand, I've used both the minimum and maximum, and in between. No matter what I change it to I still have the same problem. I don't understand what I'm doing wrong. I don't get it. I have NO trouble using this coil/tank in wattage mode.
I will mention two things:
One is that my crown was out of commission for awhile because I dropped it and it wouldn't register that there was a coil installed. I thought it was broken for good. I left it alone for months and bought a new tank instead of trying to fix it. So like a few days ago I thought about what might be wrong. I considered that maybe the coil wasn't making contact with the positive terminal inside the base of the tank. So (this probably was stupid) I took a tiny put of foil and wrapped it tightly around the bottom of a coil and installed it holding the base upside down so the foil wouldn't fall out of place. My mod immediately registered the coil with no issue. So I wondered how to fix the problem permanently. I uninstalled the coil and took the foil off it, I then took the base and flipped it upside down. I used a tool and pushed the positive part of the pin assembly down so it was going 'up' towards where the coil is seated. I put the tank back together and it was registering the coil, problem fixed. I haven't had ANY issues with the coils registering since.
Two, the coil is old. Does that matter? It fires fine in wattage mode.
I know the first point I made might just throw everyone off, and it makes it difficult for anyone to come to a determination about whats wrong. My situation isn't typical because I dropped my tank, stuck foil on the bottom of the coil to figure out there was a contact problem, and then pushed the positive terminal up. But now that the coil is registering, would that really impact the temperature control function? Also, I haven't used temperature control on my AL85 with any other tank. Nor I have used another crown coil to see if that's the problem. I don't know what to do.
Also a side issue, I'm having a leaking issue with my crown. I'm ordering new o rings, and I really hope this resolves this problem. By the way, for anyone who owns a crown, does the air flow control ring thingy feel kind of lose and slightly shift up and down if you move it?
