AL85 with crown SS .25 ohm temp control problem

Okay so I have an smok al85 with a crown tank and I have the .25 SS coil installed. These coils are supposed to be able to be used in temperature control mode. So I go to mode>temp>strength (70 watts)>coil - TC - SS> and then it says TC - SS with a range of 0.00050 - 0.00200 (I have no idea what this setting means). I cannot get it to produce vape before it locks out and says "temp protected". For the setting I don't understand, I've used both the minimum and maximum, and in between. No matter what I change it to I still have the same problem. I don't understand what I'm doing wrong. I don't get it. I have NO trouble using this coil/tank in wattage mode.

I will mention two things:

One is that my crown was out of commission for awhile because I dropped it and it wouldn't register that there was a coil installed. I thought it was broken for good. I left it alone for months and bought a new tank instead of trying to fix it. So like a few days ago I thought about what might be wrong. I considered that maybe the coil wasn't making contact with the positive terminal inside the base of the tank. So (this probably was stupid) I took a tiny put of foil and wrapped it tightly around the bottom of a coil and installed it holding the base upside down so the foil wouldn't fall out of place. My mod immediately registered the coil with no issue. So I wondered how to fix the problem permanently. I uninstalled the coil and took the foil off it, I then took the base and flipped it upside down. I used a tool and pushed the positive part of the pin assembly down so it was going 'up' towards where the coil is seated. I put the tank back together and it was registering the coil, problem fixed. I haven't had ANY issues with the coils registering since.

Two, the coil is old. Does that matter? It fires fine in wattage mode.

I know the first point I made might just throw everyone off, and it makes it difficult for anyone to come to a determination about whats wrong. My situation isn't typical because I dropped my tank, stuck foil on the bottom of the coil to figure out there was a contact problem, and then pushed the positive terminal up. But now that the coil is registering, would that really impact the temperature control function? Also, I haven't used temperature control on my AL85 with any other tank. Nor I have used another crown coil to see if that's the problem. I don't know what to do.

Also a side issue, I'm having a leaking issue with my crown. I'm ordering new o rings, and I really hope this resolves this problem. By the way, for anyone who owns a crown, does the air flow control ring thingy feel kind of lose and slightly shift up and down if you move it?

Bro throw that tank out now! Do not vape anything with foil installed in the coil. You're a news story waiting to happen.

No.. read what I said. I only used foil once to bridge the gap between the coil and the positive terminal. Once that 'fixed' the problem I REMOVED the foil and fixed the pin by pushing it up so it'd make contact. There's NO foil in there. I was extremely careful when I put the foil on the one time anyway make double triple sure it didn't touch any of the negative part of coil/threads. There isn't any foil there anyway. The coil installed and working now, WITHOUT foil.

Gotcha, glad you're not vaping it that way.

I'd just use watt mode, until I could get a new ss coil. If it still won't act right with a new coil, it may be that the mod's TC isn't very good. SMOK's TC seems to be kinda hit/miss with SS.
