Could you pretty please post the mod's overall dimensions?

Ya, that will be in my review, in the meantime you can use the size comparison pic as a point of reference.

More importantly, where can I get one and how much? I need something to help me wait for my SX Mini!

Don't know where you can get one just yet .. when they are for sale it will be over $100 I am sure. I can't wait to compare it to the SX Mini, I will have that one as well. :)

Like the upgraded packaging:p

yeah, what a crock of shit about the packaging. But they did skype me after is shipped to tell me that it was sent without new packaging .. I kind of think they were bullshitting from the start and just made up an excuse for the delay.

Looks very nice. Are you going to put it through the paces as the everyday driver for a bit so that you can find any wonky quirks?

Of course I am my dear .. they are both set up right now sitting next to me, and I taking turns with them :p I always use a product every day, all day until the review is done. :)

In another day or two I am gonna use some of that 3M and wrap one of the sleeves.

Interesting mod. Glad that you said they contacted you and said that yours did not end up shipping with the updated packaging, because I already was thinking that if that was their idea of good packaging, then I didn't hold out much hope for the device itself...

It definitely has some heft to hit at about 400grams however, the ergonomics are off the chain. We all have been hearing about the "ergonomics" are various devices on the market, this one takes the cake. The rounded/tapered end plays so well to the palm of your hand, so the weight feels very balanced. It is about 25mm wide at the back end ..

Yeah, for something some pricey you would not expect it to have such basic packaging .. I am curious to know what kind of packaging the authentic has, I have not been able to find any pictures of that.

Have to keep my ear to the ground, and a pulse on whats going on with the experiences and opinions of others in the community because at the end of the day its about "Us" and what we all think, feel, want. :)

Given the low production numbers, I wouldn't be surprised to hear that it is pretty simple, although if the bump really is to $1000 then it at least needs to be in a nice cigar box ;)

Just heard from the distributor today in a post today how horrible anyone is for buying one of these close, a thief, someone who doesn't care and just wants to flash around an expensive mod without being able to afford it, and that people who were in not only that group and that were caught on the GB list for the clone were banned, but anyone caught on ANY GB list in ANY group will be banned from his group and he will work as hard as he can to get them banned.

I try really hard to stay out of that debate but had to say his remarks both made me laugh and really annoyed me. Have to laugh at the thief remarks, but yet all of these supposedly hand made mods that the modder produces will be sold out for at least the next years or so and it's been that way from the beginning, and will continue to be so. I've said it before and will say it again, "You can't steal what doesn't exist!" As far as needing one to flash them around and feel awesome, actually, I think that's THEIR only TRUE aversion to this being cloned, especially with this one looking so 1:1. With this being more readily available and without someone having to take out a second mortgage or wait on the Messiah's return to get one, they won't be able to feel so elite and special IMHO. I could afford one of these if I choose, but why would I WANT to, especially if there's truth to the $1000 tag and having to wait a year or two rendering it virtually obsolete IMO. I live in rural Nebraska, the only person who sees my high end vape gear, the majority of what I own, is my kids and the damn corn....wow, just wow!

Can anyone confirm or deny the $1000 price increase?? On a final note, I'd be fine with this if it had no logo's and most definitely would purchase one. As it stands now, my interest in it is primarily curiosity.

Who cares what some distributor, or anyone else thinks about people buying clones?....I surely do not...I care about what I think...the rest is just mildly annoying background chatter that's actually quite easy to ignore...just because someone has an opinion on clones and the right to state it doesn't mean they have a right to have an audience...do what I do...don't give them one...

1000 bucks?...seriously?...lmao...seriously? HAHAHAHAHA

Yep, $1000 bucks. The mod maker is a fucking tool. No wonder why his precious got cloned. I might just buy a clone and make sure the photo's are Streisanded all over the vaping boards and forums. $1000 for a mod? Like I said earlier, the mod maker is a tool, a greedy tool.

I can only confirm that I "heard" from someone who claimed to have spoken to Carlos Pang that he will know be charging $1,000 as opposed to $400. Those who are in the #200 spot on the 500 name interest list are talking about getting their Zero next summer, so yes the wait is crazy.

As for this rubbish about wanting to flash around a clone as though it is authentic? I have no desire to now, or ever try to put forth a clone as an authentic device. Nor have I personally ever met anyone who wants to. For the most part clone buyers have no problem calling a clone a clone, and I certainly don't feel any shame in owning one.

Instead of the distributor trying to hunt down private group members to ban them for owning the clone (which they said they didn't care about initially), perhaps they should hunt down the person who handed their authentic Zero Modz complete with Limited Edition sleeves over to China instead .. just saying :p

Or better yet instead of spending his time trying to monitor who is using a clone and doing all he can to make sure they never get one of his creations, he could use that time to get a few extra mods out a month to the ppl that have been waiting forever to get theirs.

The funny thing is that the only people he will find wanting an authentic at $1000 are probably not on a group buy list for a clone. Or if they are, they are probably one of the few out there who will spend money on a clone to use while they wait to spend money on the authentic, and anyone who plays the try the clone before deciding to plunk down the change on the original, as word gets around he'll lose them in the bargain too.

I buy mods for quality but also looks. These mod creators create amazing pieces BUT..... to start them off at 500 and then jack them up once they get thousands of facebook requests is shady in itself. I will buy the clone not becuase i am trying to win a beauty contest with other people or to pass it off as an origial. I will buy it because it looks great and looks to be comfortable and a nice vape. I dont buy the whole "stealing" or "theft" bs. These are great looking pieces and the clone will do the job for me. Carlos would not get my money because its just too much money for what i need.

Or better yet, get a grip on reality and realize that these are inanimate objects we are talking about, not life, not blood, but perishable goods that no one should be making their God. All of this outrage over a god damn mod? These fools are ready to bust a vessel over what is essentially a toy for most of us .. things we tinker and play with for the fun it.

You know what outrages me? Child sex trafficking, domestic violence, government cover ups, war torn countries, poverty ... not a fucking clone. I am able look myself in the mirror, and sleep just fine at night right after a good vape on my favorite toy.

^^^^^^^^^^THIS^^^^^^^^^ is what I think of EVERY time I hear an outraged vape elitist go on a rant about cloned mods, which are all essentially cloned flashlights, or cell phones, mp3 players and other small electronic devices. Hmm, maybe pen collector's should start an outrage over ego's and similar pen vapes, or Apple over the Variant and the other cheaper similar looking device that's come out. Give me a break! So what about Dees Vapor mods, were they before or after Zero?? If after, was there an outrage over it's very similar looks, if not, then the Zero clone police need to stfu, the damn hypocrites! In the grand scheme of things it really doesn't matter to me.

Yes, I prefer and purchase authentics, but have also received clones in Vapebox, trades and a few times early on purchased some on Fasttech. I wish "clones" didn't carry the same logo's, and were better quality, more consistent and safe and I wish more authentic were valued closer to what they really are worth. I have a clone, the gold plated FUhattan, just because of how Ameravape acted like such a tool AND because I figured it would be beastly given it's composition and configuration and it was only $45. I was disappointed that I didn't get the box that was first promised on the second run, half the reason why I purchased it also, but I didn't get all bent either. I was downright blown away at the quality and performance of it! It is right up there with my hardest hitting and high quality copper rig mod! I've also had expensive authentic vape gear that is garbage. These people worry too much about what others put in their mouth!

It reminds me of recent comments twisted by John Grisham and the people who said they were now going to boycott his work. It must be nice to have such morals if he had truly been guilty of what they accused, but then why stop there, you'd have to exclude over half of all actors, artist, performers, etc., if you're truly outraged by abhorrent behavior! It's good to have morals and beliefs, I certainly do, but this is not a matter that is black and white IMO, lose the logo's and they don't really have a leg to stand on! One of the most unique mods out there, the ZNA30 made by Zen, which has been cloned. If HE can accept and embrace the inevitable, why can't they ALL, or at least be respectful and tolertant!

Sorry, didn't mean to turn this into the tired "clones vs. authentics", it always seems to happen though in threads like these. His words hit me the wrong way and I'd thought others would be interested to hear of it. I voluntarily left the group, I swear these people think it's a privilege for people to grace their presence, and there's actually "vape celebrities" LMFAO!

Zen is a smart man that scored so many points in my book with his position on the clones. Look, the nature of creativity is inspired recreation .. every "thing" that exists made by man's hand was inspired by something else that came before it. This is Life ... all of life is a constant recreation. In my book, there is only One who can claim to be the originator of all things created. ;)

Also ... I have good reason to believe that the Zero mod is a ... "inspired recreation" o_O When I first found out about the clone I was searching youtube and came across this grainy video of a guy holding a protoype of sorts that he called the DNA something ... it looked like the Zero except it was square on all sides and he said "coming soon". That video was dated March 2014, and if I am not mistaken it was prior to the launch of the Zero Modz by Carlos Creation.

I will see if I can find it in my watch history and post it ... there is also another mod custom mod that is eerily similar to Carlos Pang's SX Zero. Not sure which one came first, but look at this pic and tell me what ya think?

QOX by Bru Vapors .. different, yet kinda the same

You know I make my living as an artist and lets just say no one loves to be copied. However once you put something out into the world and it is good then you should almost expect it. It is a compliment in a sense, good enough to be copied type of thing. I have been copied by lots of different people in different parts of the world, its just not the chinese. I have even had a lady that bought my work and sold it as her own and then told me about it . Now that takes balls.

My point is these mod creators make such a fuss about it but don't do anything to help themselves. Why not create the mod for a reasonable price in big quantities making them accessible to everyone not these dam short runs. Come on run it like a business instead of this small fanboy club. Secondly if you create something and are so darned worried about being copied then stick it a drawer so no one else can see it . These are mods not some masterpiece to be hung on a wall .

My final thought on this is, a good business releases something but are already working on the next great thing not staying on the one and only format worried about being copied. Creators should continually be creating.

Oh surprise surprise I got cloned. Really do they expect something different? We might have to commission an FUZero. Box could have a picture of the $1000 bill with Grover Cleveland flipping the bird. Wait would that be cloning the other FU? I cant keep up anymore.

The only thing that bothers me about the clone is, stealing the guy's name. The fact that these "authentic" mod makers borrow the look and feel from each other's "non-patented" designs is one thing, but to flat out steal your Trademark name, and sell it as that, is quite another. There is no reason why Yosen can't put his own name on it, or no name, and let it fly on it's own merits. I would consider buying one then.

When I quit smoking cigars and first started vaping, I bought a Caravela from a retail store not knowing there was such a thing as a clone. Have since sanded off the sailing ship logo and buffed it back out.

There are some Chinese box mod manufactures that are quickly finding out they don't have to clone someone else's work, or rip off someone's name to become popular. All they have to do is produce a good product that people want.

What's funnier is I'm fairly certain there is one photo in the OP that is actually a Wapari.........lol

I will check that out, but all of the photos I used came from actually Zero threads on Instagram and like, which doesn't mean its not possible, so I will be rechecking.

ETA: Nice call .. It is absolutely Wapari. And I did notice the difference when I first found the pic however, I "assumed" that is was just another version of a Carlos Creation ... but you know what they say when you "assume" :p

While coping the logos/branding doesn't personally bother me, I do agree that its not necessary to keep the original modders name, and it could be left off of clones. There are those who prefer logoless clones, but truth be told, when the logo's are left off more consumers complain than not. When EHpro did their first Caravela clone, there was no Caravela logo or name ... in fact it said DX0 something instead. Some months later EHpro later began producing their clone with the Caravela logo and serial #'s in response to request and demand for it.

So in China is usually damned when they do, and damned when they don't ...

OHHHHH SNAP! ... a DNA 30 clone chip with buck and boost  Who woulda thunk it? Using a Rose V2 at 1.1ohm and LG-HE2

*forgive the slightly blurry 1st pic as this is not easy to capture with one hand*
SJOTQoJ.png

Tested 7W, 10W, 20W, and 30W @1.1 ohms and the results were :

2.8v display/2.79 inline meter = 7.12W
3.4v display/3.37 inline meter= 10.32W
4.8v display/4.77 inline meter= 20.68W
5.9v display/5.99 inline meter= 32.61W

So, these early test show that this chip is slightly over powered, and would explain my early statements to a buddy in which I said the device felt like it had more "punch" to it at any given setting. In my review I will of course have more test results into the sub ohm range, but so far I am not disappointed in this clone .. and with the ability to step down voltage output, this is for sure a BIG PLUS over the authentic with Evolv DNA 30 that does not step down.

See ... Yosen changed something, and its no longer a 1:1 clone, some would even call this an improvement, lol :p

Also .. I must point out that my friend Timmy Chin was incorrect in his review when he said that this DNA 30 clone chip did not switch to right mode or stealth mode. You can see in the above capture that I successfully changed the screen to right mode from left, its just that it takes a little while longer to switch than the authentic Evolv chip .. as in you most hold the fire button and wattage up down for a lot longer, but it does in fact work.

One little annoyance I found is that the battery indicator level goes down while the device is firing, and then goes back to the true battery level when you stop firing. As the battery life decreases it takes a little longer for the true battery level to display after firing has ceased ... annoying.

Love seeing these results, really look forward to getting my hands on one of these :)

Ordered two this morning and a DNA40 chip. I can't wait to take one apart. I have not ordered from Focal before are they pretty reliable with the lead times?
