So I've just made my first order for diy juices, I picked up a good 20 flavors some nic and a few different size syringes to measure stuff. I've read the sticky posts on here but was wondering if anyone has other tips or tricks for mixing. I purchased my flavors from bull city and my nic from vapers tek, I understand start low% on flavors as its easier to add more to taste rather than dilute with more base, and as far as steeping goes around a week is what I'm seeing is most commonly done, and I'm excited to get into this.
1) find a few tried and true recipes that interest you and order the flavors for those recipes. "Winging it" off the bat is a recipe for failure. There are many bad flavorings out there. And following recipes will give you experience with your flavorings and how to use them. (Too late since you ordered already)
2) syringes suck. Get a scale.
3)syringes suck. Get a scale.
4) fruit flavors rarely need steeping. And some custards are good without steeping also. Some take weeks or more to steep. I would start with fruit recipes so you can experience success sooner. Would suck bad to steep a "first diy" for a month only to dump it cuz it isn't good.
5) don't get in a "mix, taste, adjust, taste, adjust, taste, adjust" whirlwind. Mix. Taste. Let it sit a day. Taste again. Maybe adjust.
You can overwhelm your taste buds and frustrate yourself by trying to rush. Take your time.
6) enjoy diy. I do.
7) get a scale. Syringes suck.
8) there is no silver bullet. You will need to put some time and effort into diy. You will make some stuff that sucks. It is a learning experience.
9) you will never regret DIY juice.
Every piece of advice I gave is exactly what I wish someone had told me before I started DIY. I have made these mistakes and wanted to give my take so you (and others) don't make the same mistakes.
