I don't like the idea but I'm also an adult who realizes when you're dealing with two polarized entities such as the left and the right, compromise generally has to occur somewhere. The only way you avoid compromise is in a dictatorship where the leader's views align with your own. Expecting more than that tends to bring one's sensibility into question.
Well I want this and this and this and that. Well wish in one hand, shit in the other. Do you always get what you want? I know after nearly 40yrs on the face of this rock I sure don't.
What I was saying is, in a perfect world I think the amnesty is bullshit. But then in a perfect world, shillary and obummer and other committed crimes and should be held accountable and charged. Plenty of things 'should' be that 'aren't'. That's life. Taking a more realistic view of things back on planet Earth, my hopes were the following - that the proposed amnesty required so much additional compromises that the left will 'resist' as they usually do. In which case Trump can honestly say he tried, he even offered 'amnesty' so any failure for it to succeed falls on the libs.
On the other hand, worst case scenario, the libs agree and 1.6 or 1.8m people get amnesty. But they only get there by adhering to strict prerequisites that if they fail to follow during the 8-10yr probationary period allows them to be deported. They don't just have to mind their p's and q's for 90 days, over a decade if they're bums they've got enough rope to hang themselves.. It also allows ice and border patrol to be more effective and funds the wall and then some. Definitely not the worst case for a 'worst case' scenario.
You put too many words in my mouth in short order by saying I was giving excuses for Trump. Comparing to Bush is just weak, Trump said lower taxes and what do we have? Your kneejerk desire to hate on Trump for something is making you a bit twitchy. Getting all worked up before the results are even realized. Whoa wtf you're gonna pay $100 for that hamburger are you friggin NUTS?!?!?! Chill bro, I said it looked like it'd taste good. Didn't even reach for my wallet. Cart goes behind the horse.
The reality is, Republicans in general, are pussies. Keep "compromising" and what you have is progression of liberalism. IE, the Progressive. Compromise is what adds to an ever increasing government. A Progressive government. Compromise gave us 6 years or so of Obama dominated politics with a Republican House, Senate and Supreme Court. Trump did not turn the Supreme Court to a conservative court, his nomination prevented a liberal court. The only time Dems want compromise is when they are on the short bus and still want to pass their agenda. They didn't "compromise" on Obamacare when they owned the Presidency, the House and the Senate. It's only Republican pussies that go for compromise when they control all branches of government.
Trump has been great because he's been aggressive. But when we compare him to other R candidates and their policies, Trump is waffling on some of the things that set him apart. Immigration is a big one. Either Cruz or Rubio would have nominated a conservative Supreme Court Justice and signed a tax cut bill. Where Trump differed from other R's, was on illegal immigration. We could have gotten amnesty from Cruz or Rubio.
I didn't vote for a standard Republican to compromise with the Dems. Any pussy Republican could have done that. We still have Obamacare because of pussy Republicans. I voted for Trump. He said no amnesty.
People that accept compromise is why we have a fucked up government. Rather than threaten the R's or D's in the House and Senate with losing their seats, pussy Republican voters send the message that it's okay to give the Dems their amnesty even though we voted for the guy that said no amnesty. It's not Trump that is compromising, it's Trump's voters. Some of them, at least.
No, I won't give them a pass. I could have "compromised" before the election and voted for an amnesty candidate. Why would I change my mind now? Changing my mind only allows politicians to go back on their words. It's not "compromise", it's a reversal of policy.
Do I expect to get everything I want? No. There where things I'd like to see happen that Trump did not run on. But, he didn't say he would do those things. He didn't campaign for those things. I don't expect them. I've always said Trump was a step in the right direction, not perfect.
Do I expect Trump to stick to the things he said. Absolutely. Those are the things I voted for him to do. I didn't vote for him to "compromise". I voted for him to do what he said. DACA and Amnesty are all his. If Congress won't fund the wall, that's on Congress. But if he signs an amnesty bill, that's on Trump.
Anyway, I voted. I voted for what Trump said he would do. He said no amnesty and that's what I voted for. That doesn't mean that I'm done with politics. It's my job to do what I can to make sure he does what he said. Going back on what I think is right, isn't going to happen. I'm not a party hack. I'm not a "Trump can do no wrong" guy. My opinion is the same now as it was before the election. Trump changed his policy, I did not change mine. Just because Trump changed does not mean that I must follow. I'm going to stick to my opinion and not make excuses. Compromise is for pussies. The "reality" is that Republicans let the liberals push them around. That's what you call reality. I don't disagree that compromise is reality. It is. I disagree that it has to be reality. Those that don't want amnesty don't have to compromise but the reality is that many of them are pussies and will.
