Thanks Smokey! I do see what everyone is saying and meaning. Not a morning person. I know I can't use that banana...plastic tank cracker, but will try out the strawberries....working with fa banana possibly Fuji or walnut to boost banana...thank you for a starting point on flavoring and %! Need more coffee!!!
I think that is just it... people see "layers" in a different way. What exactly is layering then? I thought an equal distribution of flavors resulting in balence between said flavors. If I vape a juice and I taste one or two flavors when it enters my mouth another as I inhale and a different on the exhale. Isn't that layered? You could even add the aftertaste if there is one be it pleasant or horrid.
Is it the blend as a whole and simply the complexity of the flavors together?
What exactly do you all mean by layers?

LMAO!!Ok, I asked Smoky in a PM about mixing different brands of the same flavor and this lead to this thread in a way. it was a newbie question and really, being new, I wanted to know that and not really the proper terms per say. I like all the answers and questions this thread has brought up but again, I think it is geared to the new DIYer. I love a good debate as well as the next person and being old, I can debate with the best on a subject I know about. DIY, I know enough to be dangerous and need way more information. So, if possible, can we stay a little on topic. I went from, ok, to confused, to WTF to ok, to confused again to shit, I will use only what I need to know while still learning the new stuff and terms. Ok, that was called a run on sentence and I am king of them.....
For me, I just want to make my own juice and will use my own terms. I am old, old people are like that... laughs
So thanks for all the information, the new terms and of course, the debate.....
No one ever answered about drops?? you all remember that question??? laughs.
I have oldtimers, what is your excuse???? snickers
I guess I mean what type of dropper, pipette or whatever do you do your drops with???
smiles.....

I find it best to his close your eyes and let the flavors talk to you as you drip. They will speak to you in a way that is unmistakable. When you get a tingle in certain parts of your body, you'll know to stop. Just feel it. Juice comes from the soul and from the heart, the bottle is just a tool. A shell if you will. You have to become one with it while mixing and achieve a Zen like state. If not, you'll just be left feeling empty with a full bottle.
I am sure my flavors talk to me but being deaf I don't listen well.
Better for me to go by a recipe.
Glad that works for you... must be fun!
Pardon me. I just didn't want any confusion when others come here for info on layering.Ok, I asked Smoky in a PM about mixing different brands of the same flavor and this lead to this thread in a way. it was a newbie question and really, being new, I wanted to know that and not really the proper terms per say. How can it be flavor profiling, when we are discussing how to make layers and tastes, in order to reach a flavor profile??
I don't think you are being rude, and i think everyone here is open to chatting about it.. unless otherwise said..
I tried that last week. I do believe that I created the world's first turpentine flavored vape.I find it best to his close your eyes and let the flavors talk to you as you drip. Yep, and they call it that because it's layered with different flavors. =)Every time I read this I think about Trident layers gum. They have a new candy cane one thats pretty awesome.
Hi Rocket Puppy. I really enjoy reading your post.Yep, and they call it that because it's layered with different flavors. =)
Welcome to VU. Which post? On gum? lolHi Rocket Puppy. I really enjoy reading your post.

I'm fairly new to vaping and I'd be interested in knowing which flavors tend to present on the inhale. Might save my battery some life and help me balance inhale, mouth feel and exhale.
it depends on which ones you make to become "leader"..
anything higher than the rest will become dominant.. then the lower take the exhale..
like:
2% Cranberry cap
1% Concord grape fa
you will get that burst of cranberry on the inhale, and grape on the exhale..
making a flavor profile of cran-grape![]()
Thank you. I was assuming some just naturally were stronger on the exhale.
I absolutely get what you're saying about layering, just as making the layers of a pie. I have tasted juices -- and all you pro DIY vapors recipes-- that produce those layers. I struggle with understanding how you did that when really we're dumping liquids together. I had to back up and do exactly what you guys suggest: keep notes and play with single flavors first and then start adding the tiny drops of this and that to see what it does. I love that you guys are willing to share your cooking chemistry so freely here. I did not know that certain flavors made other flavors pop. I hope that others' poor judgment of stealing recipes won't slow you down, because I know there are many others of us who are soaking in knowledge from your experience and using it honestly to learn from.sometimes it isn't about using the same flavor, either, LD but combining things to lay like you would in a kitchen..
think of it as creating a piece of art, going into your mouth.. dripping with that or so special goodness![]()
Definitely having fun!I am not super picky, but it is nice to be moving away from single flavored juices. I got my blueberry candy and circus cotton candy mix to finally stop tasting like play doh.
Hey Smoky! I gotta get some lemon juice...does it need to b organic? I'M laughing here as I just found another way to layer in a tank...sometimes it ends up down the kitchen sink...but this one is good. I added 1/3 of HICS bourbon peach pudding...1/3 of T Balls white peach cocktail and topped it off with more peach bourbon pudding in a small aspire k1! All of a sudden the flavor changes & sometimes the 2 recipes mix. I know I am weird. Still laughing at myself...but I like it!i think it is fine like it is.. layers can be used for all sorts of things, RP.. and we do have a lot of new people that might even think it's even more than what has been posted.. I wanted to make a spot to talk about doing just that.. layers.. what kind, how to determine, what is the goal and how to make them..
okies off the cuff on first cupa coffee.. Dainta.. try this..
2% Strawberry fa
1% Strawberry fe
.25% Raspberry Sweet tfa
1.5% Ripe Banana tfa
then add 1 drop of lemon juice per 10ml
now what I did here.. by using the 2 strawberries.. is i made one the "leader" the fa strawberry is like a real strawberry with a tiny bit of green..
that is what i picked up from it.. the other strawberry is like eating one that is right on the cusp of juicy ripeness.. Sure, i could have added more companies to this.. but it's not needed
the raspberry sweet is to give them both a "pop" or zest..
while ripe banana is used as a back ground type flavor to add body and to be tasted last on the exhale.. since it comes out lower than the strawberries..
make a bit of sense??
i wont get into drops atm..but a small hint, i do not like them, at all..
if i had to count drops on a gallon, i'd be lost after 10
my coffee is about gone lmao.. @Iamme
always put your flavor companies name on your recipes, or everyone will ask what company it's from..
and make sure it is the right company or they will ask that too..
off for more coffee..good morning!
Thanks! Next, I'm gonna have to buy an oak barrel. I bought some 28 days vape from joe's deal and it is yummy. Presteeped, too. The oak really adds to the flavor. Course, the price was right and I can reuse these lovely 15 mil glass bottles!then this whole thread was worth it.. thanks em.. i know you are happy!!![]()
