Well, I’m not buying that Jesus was a marxist. I do think that he was partially used as a tool used by the Romans- at least to an extent by Herod Antipas.(the son of Herod the Great)
One of Jesus’ major funders was a known associate of Herods wife, by the name of Joanna (Sp). Additionally a man by the name of Manaen-a relative of Herod- was a close follower of Jesus; and, built one of the first Christian churches in Antioch after the crucifixion of Christ. Herod was looking to rise to power within the Roman ranks, but Tiberius was refusing to promote him past tertarch(governor). He wanted to be the kind like his father. Some Jews believed in having a king on earth and spiritual king-or messiah. Hence, the usage of Jesus.
What better way to rise to power than cause confusion and struggle among the people?

John the Baptist was held prisoner by Herod Antipas. He was held prisoner because he wouldn’t sign off in Herods marriage to his brothers wife(a Jewish woman). When he was finally killed a year after inprosnment, Jesus had begun gathering a following. Many of his followers were formerly followers of John. Hence John was no longer politically relevant.
In that year, how many chances did Herod or his associates have to speak with Jesus. If his wife’s friend is funding the ministry; brother in law is a member of the ministry.....

I always knew that they didn’t teach us much of the actual history in school. But, once I started looking into all of it, I couldn’t stop.
