I make your words mineBro I’m sitting here breaking down the steps it takes to complete some of the stuff you post and it hurts my brain. I remember the old days where if you could do a pair of alien coils you were like a master haha. Man things do change. You are absolutely the best Coil Porn builder I have ever had the pleasure of communicating with. I learned about you during the first season of Coil Wars and I was rooting for you cause I thought your stuff was insanely cool. I think you give a lot of people inspiration to keep on trying for the sake of the art instead of just getting to fraliens and staying there. What makes this whole thing an art is the few people like you who can show us what’s really possible.
Thanks man... It' a 8ply .4 in the core, framed with 28g. The wrap is a .4 ply twisted with a 38g (i'd like to do that with .3 ply / 30g and 40g in the ply twist, but was out of .3 ply :/ )

That sounds awesome brother! I’m not 100% sure what you mean by .4 twisted with 38g. On the couple of occasions I’ve pulled of Tsukas it was like I alien wrapped the ribbon wire if that makes any sense. It wasn’t nearly as perfect as yours. The ones I did are shown above.
There are 2 different types of tsukas.
#1 - decore ribbon and wrap cores like an alien
#2 - twist ribbon lightly until it has the correct pitch between twists to wrap around the cores.
Exactly. I did the second way. (Just added a round wire with the ribbon and twisted both. This ribbon+round twist was made in one direction, wrap in the opposite one).

Right, the way I tried it was the first way you mentioned. I was intimidated when it came to twisting the ribbon, I wouldn’t know when enough was enough I wouldn’t even have any idea although it seems that learning to do it the second way you mentioned might be a good idea.

Yah Nick has a tutorial on it. Basically you prep your cores first so you can twist and be able to check the pitch against the cores as you go.
You could twist it to the max and it'll look like chain mail (bad vape though, hot and spitty)

Yah most of his stuff is live streamed and he doesn't edit. That's why they are that way. I've thought about putting together a tutorial pack for the more complicated builds on the forums here to give builders something short and sweet to check out. Plus, I can't sit for long periods of time due to a body that is about 30 years older than it should be. And I don't have any video editing xp. Meh ... idk ... it's an idea
Tried Razorback for the first time tonight. I can’t believe I claptoned the ribbon right the first try. after watching the videos with clamps and tweezers, I used Legos to feed the ribbon onto the core and it was awesome. I had to stretch it a lot to fit this stick but I got just enough for a coil!

I think I forgot to answer this - using a hand drill, and wiggling the wires back and forth into the gaps, and using a finger between the wires to keep them separated and from twisting - I didnt figure that out till halfway through, so you can see a twisted spot or two

Goddamn you all have been busy since I made my last post. Those builds look tasty. I think I’ll bust out my drill when I’m done this fucker and try some new stuff. So I haven’t had any time to mess with this mod since the last time I posted....however today is my very elusive day off that isn’t propagated by dozens of chores and extra shite. Hour and a half into it and this is what I got. Another hour or so and it should be near done. Thought I’d give you an update...

Ss 430 gets a weird taste toward the end of a long puff, not sure it can hold up to vaping the way I like

This was old and dirty kbee wire, but I "polished" it with alcohol and a cloth while it was spinning in my drill
Yah I wasn't super happy with that straight 22g I posted a little bit ago. It vaped ... but was seriously lacking in flavor. Could have been the fact that I crammed them in so tight to the posts that it was more like indirect airflow. And the fact that I spaced them so there was no crevices for the juice to pool.

yeah ... i wanted to do 1 ply ribbon, but the outer ones kept flipping on me during fusing (no matter how little tension i used), lost a whole stick cause I kept trying until the stick just kind of broke down. Needed that extra ply to help it stand up against all the round.
Got the 46g in today, made a framed staple. I thought it was gonna waaay harder but it’s not to bad! I like how little tension it puts on the stick.

agreed. i had a bit of trouble going from 36 an 38 aliens to 40 (i totally failed my first couple tries). after i got 40 aliens down, i never had any trouble going higher (up to 46 aliens so far and havnt failed an attempt since i was failing to hit 40 for my first time). i thought going higher and higher would always get equally harder and harder, but it feels like that hard step to 40 taught me whatever i needed to be able to do work with higher gauges.
Same for me ... except I got stuck at 46. a number of attempts with no success yet.
I gotta makes a bunch of these for my friend. Just 30g frames .3 ribbon.what have you failed at 46? ill admit that i have only done little aliens with it (36/46 and 32/46) and that might be why it feels easier than i thought it would. i have only gone up to 42 for larger/more complex builds like alien framed staples and stuff...

To be honest Chris, when I do what I would call a regular vaping build ie a framed staple, Fralien, some kind of alien coil, SSFC, maybe a half stagg, something that’s simple and vapable, I just use a jig, my hands, and nylon pliers to put the kink in one of the leads. Those are the only kinda builds that I have the potential to do really really well.
Sometimes when I try a more complicated build like an enigma I’ll put it in vice in a way I can get clearance and wrap it with tension, but that’s really not what I’m good at.
Yea I could technically “do” an enigma, an alien stagg, a Tsuka, whatever the case may be, I’ll show a very basic level of competence, but it’s by no means done really well. It’s really just showing the most basic level of understanding just for the fun of it and don’t get me wrong, I love trying everything cause I love building.
I love the community, I love that you guys (and gals) allow me to be a part of it, but I recognize that I have limitations from a time perspective and also a talent perspective and I kinda know my place so to speak. So the short answer is most of the time it’s just a jig, my hands, and a pair of nylon pliers.
You are giving yourself standardized limitations, this my friend is one way to keep you in a box. Risks and errors are a part of growing and you have the skill set. The motivation, willpower, and faith to break those standards is all you need now. Trust me, much of the time I make something I dont get it right on the first try, especially with the experimental stuff....You will surprise yourself as you continue, experiment, and go out of your comfort zone....finding ways to make your prep/building faster will give you more time leniency....but dont hold yourself back thinking your not good enough or that your inferior in any way to anyone else here...everyone in this thread is more than capable.
