DIY in canada? Where do I go?

Hot damn! You are like an e-juice factory! I guess you supply to friends and family. Even 10mL lasts me a good while. I order 30mL of my favorites. I'm about to order some hardware from dashvapes and figured I'd throw in a couple of flavors I'm missing (notably, Vanilla Bean Ice Crea by TFA). They only carry 30mL though so it's overkill for me but at 6$ a flavor, it's no biggie.

I'm thinking of getting a wasp nano. If anyone has any opinions on it

Banana Cream
Bavarian Cream
Cheesecake Graham Crust
Vanilla Custard
Dragonfriut
Strawberry
Strawberry Organic
Strawberry Ripe
Blueberry Wild
Blueberry Extra
Sweet Cream
Whipped Cream

These are my most used flavours. I've been using INW Shisha Stawberry quite a bit lately too. I'm going to experiment a bit with blackberry soon too.

I've tried mixing TFA Cheesecake GC as a standalone and find it pretty tasteless. I don't get this glavor. Apparently CAP's new york cheesecake is better?

While TFA Cheesecake GC is a good flavour, it's not really a stand alone. Better to pair it with your favourite fruit plus another cream like TFA Bavarian Cream (or something similar, the possibilities are practically endless) and some vanilla like Shisha Vanilla or Holy Vanilla.

CAP's NY Cheesecake is good but again, you're not likely to find it's good as a stand alone.

Hi Ceecee. Thanks for your suggestions!

The reason why I mix standalones is because I like to get a feel for the flavor profile. I don't intend on vaping them as standalones. I usually mix 5mL batches. I fill a half a tank twice and I'm done. Perhaps I should have mixed at a higher % but I find I get no graham cracker, nor did I get any cheesiness or body. I use it in a recipe I found for Unicorn Milk and the whole recipe is quite good but again, I don't really taste any of the cheesecake. I mixed it at 6%.

If I don't get any flavor from it in one of my standalone mixes, I'm really in the dark with how to use it in a mix. I'm currently looking for a good pairing for this nice mango I've got goin' on, a cheesecake would have been nice.

I didn't realize you were single flavour testing as you didn't mention it. :)

How long did you let that cheesecake age? I generally find that flavour needs 2 to 3 weeks to develop.

You may also be a low taster and need higher percentages. We all perceive flavours differently and what works for one person will not work for another. For example, I never go higher than 4% with that flavour as that's my sweet spot. Anything higher and it starts to taste like cheesey feet to me  :D

I'd kinda like to get some cheesiness because I could work around that profile. Like adding some FE lemon I bought (thanks to your recommendation) and getting an interesting balance of tartness and creaminess.

I didn't let it steep that long. To be honest, I learned mixing with some of HiC's recipes using FA flavors. They were mostly shake n vapes.

Recently I've been mixing with a lot of TPA and CAP and I'm finding it a bit more challenging than FA.

My most recent batch includes TFA Bavarian cream and CAP vanilla custard. I guess I have to wait 2 weeks for these?

I've seen some ultrasonic cleaners for really cheap on amazon.ca. Maybe worth investing in one? I tried heat steeping a recipe once and I feel like it ruined the flavor more than anything (really muted the flavor).

I would leave both TFA Bavarian Cream and CAP Vanilla Custard for at least 2 weeks but both are better at 3 and 4 weeks. Hopefully you bought the regular Bavarian Cream (not the DX) and the CAP V1 otherwise no amount of time is going to make either of the latter much better.

If you are going to invest in an ultrasonic cleaner I would recommend you use it to clean your tanks only. Heat degrades both nic and flavours and most people generally don't recommend it. Nothing like good old time to do the job correctly.

I'm one of those people who mixes well in advance of when I intend to vape my DIY mixes. If you want a cheesecake flavour that doesn't need to age I highly recommend Inawera's Yes We Cheesecake. I vape this when it's 24 hours old and it doesn't change much even after a long steep.

Dear fellow Canuck DIYers. I'm surprised I haven't found much discussion about the new canadian law (or interpretation of existing laws) that considers any liquid with concentration over 66mg/mL as "very toxic". Products labeled as "very toxic" according to CCCR, 2001 are illegal for sale, import or manufacture in Canada.

Most canadian nicotine suppliers have followed suit and now only sell 60 or 65 mg/mL concentrations now. So you have to put twice (ok 33%) as much nic to get the same concentration as before. All the shops I know in Montreal still buy and use 100mg/mL and it is what I have been using forever.

I recently acquired a full liter of 100mg/mL because soon it will be impossible to find any in Canada (or import for that matter). Should last me for years to come, my last 250mL bottle of nic lasted at least 2-3 years. I keep it in the freezer in an amber bottle and it hasn't degraded since it seems what I've read is true and VG helps preserve the nicotine to keep it from turning peperry.

My nic is currrently in those white plastic chemical type container bottles that VG and PG usually ship in. D'you guys think it's suitable to keep the nic in this bottle in the freezer for long periods or should I get some amber bottles? Also, I'm very afraid of getting hot spots and wish to mix the 1L bottle but I'm unsure how to do that safely (it's nicotine in a VG base). Also, I would appreciate suggestions for transfering the nic safely. I do have some household funnels for cooking but I'm unsure about using that. I could buy some funnels from the dollar store and just throw them out after I'm done.

Happy and safe DIY to everyone in the great white north !

For long term nic storage glass bottles would be better (even in the freezer).

I think you haven't seen much discussion on the subject because most of us knew before Bill S5 came into effect that nic concentration would be affected. I bought 3 liters of 100mg nic before the law was passed so I'm good for many, many years. I imagine most other DIYers did the same thing.

thanks for your reply. I'll have to check out that bill. Any suggestions on how to mix my batch of nic? There is near to nothing as far as empty space in the bottle and starting to try and fiddle with transferring nicotre between containers can get dangerous (and I'll end up losing quite a few mL due to the viscosity of VG).

Find yourself a clean 2 liter container (like maybe a well cleaned pop bottle) and pour your nic inside and mix vigorously then transfer to smaller bottles for the freezer. You won't lose much nic if you cap the original bottle and leave it upside down for several hours or overnight so you can drain out as much as possible. Do the same with the 2 liter bottle and you'll have minimal loss.

If you're worried about spilling some or getting it on your skin just use some plastic gloves. I transferred 3 liters of nic to bottles for my freezer and didn't get any on myself and spilled none. Just be as careful as possible!

I was using VG based nic but honestly, I prefer the PG based. Simply because it is thinner and easier to suck into a syringe.. and of course, you want to taste your juice.. pg carries the flavor better than vg. Most flavors are pg based so remember this when calculating pg/vg ratio. If it isnt quite 20/80 or 30/70 no big deal, its the result not the numbers. You might end up with 22/78.. lol.

For me it is about longevity and not turning peppery. I agree VG is a pain to work with because it is hard to mix but I've had great success storing VG nic so I'm sticking with that. I've been vaping some store bought 50/50 and I just don't like it. It does make the flavor intense... almost too intense. I'm a direct to long vaper so I like something more airy and smooth so 70/30 is bang on for me, sometimes I go to 60/50 to bring out the sweetness of fruit flavors.

On another note, some recipes have a high amount of flavorings, especially if you use TPA and Cap. Some flavorings are not as potent as other companies so they are in large concentration. I occasionally aproach the near 30% PG mark just with the flavorings. If I used PG nic, I might exceed 30% PG without even adding PG base. I use a dropper to add my nic and for 30mL, usually one to two full droppers is sufficient. It actually works great.

The most annoying is filling with tons of VG base. It is so slow with syringes. I bought a ketchup type bottle and will experiment with that. Only problem is that some of my bottles had a narrow mouth and I don't want to make a mess.

Use a big syringe, with one of these gizmos. You won't spill a drop.

I use these sometimes when I want to transfer larger amounts of liquid, like when I'm splitting up a litre of nic base.

https://www.princessauto.com/en/detail/2-pk-60ml-syringe/A-p8744211e

They also have 10ml sizes. I find syringes are messy. I always look for an alternative method. I mix by weight. When I add my VG it's in a ketchup type condiment bottle like @MTLian said.

Well, you better bring them the fuck back. And I expect you to apologize to that kid from down the hall. I'd have to as well, were it not for the old balaclava. (Ok, its not that old, and it's Nomex, but it is at least a proper 1-holer.)

bala.jpg

As soon as I get him out of the old freezer in the sub basement. A few days to get used to light and solid food again, and he'll be fine. Probably will be mostly happy he was "found". :bliss:

And after you have got that out of the way, I'd like a quote for a half litre of 100Mg/Ml Nic.

When I tap on "Mods" it brings up 16 items. None of them are mods. When I tap on VG it brings up three sizes. 240ml is the largest. The price is $10. This MUST be a mistake. I can fetch a 1 litre bottle for that price on many Canadian sites. I can get a 4 litre jug (over 16 times your 240) for just about double your $10. Is the site all messed up or are you as useless as that?

Very confused now. Turns out the kid who used to live down the hall from me, DID have all my DIY supplies, and 2 axes that have great sentimental value to me. Oh well, he left a wicked stereo and some other stuff behind. Why were you covering for him VaperBC??? Are you related? If you are, tell his Mom to stop burning up the phone. He said I could have it, He went to the mountains to write a book about Grizzly bears. Thats all he said anyways.

Whoops. Mea culpa! Manners. Massive grats on your new pipeline project! You must be stoked. About time you BC guys had something nice to keep you busy. Gonna miss the protesters though. They made the BEST faces when the trains quit stopping for them. lolol

Perhaps, but his VG came from free ranging chemical factories. Operated by professional eco-mentalists.

Cigarettes are up to $18 a pack here. I hadn't bought any since 2015.

Because of the Wheelchair Mafia in this building, (it was built with several adapted suites for gimps) without notice, two weeks ago Health Services "deemed" the building a Congregate Care Facility. Even though we meet NONE of the criteria. No shared dining, laundry, etc. It's a normal condo except a few people with disability's have Health Services support workers that provide them care. At the Seniors Home down the block, they have none of the bullshit we do now.

Being a Congregate Care Facility means no "non-essential" visitors, and only one door in the lobby that's not locked, with a masked Health Services Gestapo member who decides whether and for how long you may leave. From 09:00 to 21:00. After 21:00 the bastards go home, at least the door Nazis do. So far.

About the time our building became Poland, I realized I was running low on DIY materials. I didn't panic, I thought I'd just buy enough juice at the vape shop until I could put in an order. Unt zen, zey came! GimpKrieg!

Very troubling, but not the end of the world, I'm a fairly resourceful sort. I have a sufficient amount of line, my old harness, 'biners and figure 8 descender, I figure a fast 4 bounce absail off the balcony, at about 20:30 on Friday when the Vape shop is open until 21:00, gives me 30 min to get there, get my juice, and Col. Klink et all will be gone before I return. I check my gear, and other than the harness having mysteriously shrunk some in the years since I last used it, and the absence of my ascenders that I lent to somebody or other... all was in order. Even my super cool black triple palmed rappelling gloves! I was even looking forward to it. Vive la Resistance! My roomates mistakenly thought I was humming the theme from Mission Impossible. What imaginations they have.

Then they got all freaked out, when I asked them to pull the rope up, after I disconnected at the bottom, and told them that I'd gather it up off the balcony on my return. Not like its heavy. You would think I had asked them to smuggle bibles into North Korea. Inside their bu..ags. Very negative. So I said the alternative, was to leave it hanging there, leading right to the balcony. That worked. I never told them I could just have doubled the rope, and pulled it down at the bottom. Who wants to go walking down the street with a coil of rope? It's bad enough trying to saunter along looking casual, in a long coat with the harness strangling your groin. Part of the solution? They were not.

The plan, as they say, was coming together. A super yelly guy used to scream at us, Fail to Plan, Plan to Fail ladies! It was not uncommon that sometimes his spit would hit your face when he got real loud and shrill. I wonder how he's taking this whole social distancing thing? Anyway, he did make an impression. Which is why I double checked everything. Due diligence you know. Including the vape shop hours.

You can probably see where this is headed. The vape shop was now closed except for mail order. There were some very bad words. I was running out of options. I *like* options. Still, panic never once has helped me. Not my panic anyhow. I realize there is just enough time even with postal delays, that if I implement a juice conservation program, I can hold out until a DIY order arrives. With no time to lose Operation Cloud Bro is abandoned, and I spark up the puter.

Due to what people on this thread have posted about DIY-EJUICE I figured I give them a go. And they are on my side of the country. Through the hoops up the ladders down the snakes, and I register an account there. Only to not see nic. Fuck! What the hell is up with that? Fuck PayPal. I don't have time for this crap. So I log on to my usual vendor. I make an order. And I select the 4 day shipping option, because I know it will be longer. It wasn't cheap. For a cheap bastard like me, it hurt. At least though, it is now taken care of. That was the 14th. Long story short, after watching the tracking for 3 days with no movement, I notice that my tracking is for Expedited Parcel. Not the Ultra Express I paid for.

I send another email, and received bafflegab about how the postal service is running slow, until he ran out of excuses, and admitted that no, Canada Post was not fibbing about Expedited Parcel. There had been an error. And the excess amount I paid for Ultra Express or whatever would be translated into a store credit. How fucking magnanimous of him. Its a week later. My stuff has just left Mississauga. Fucking Yea! It will be another week before it arrives. And oh joy. I have a credit at a store I'll burn down before I ever order from again. I'm on my last tank now. Broke Vaper? Yes. If I ever get my hands on you Dan.

Hello all. I've been in a DIY slump. Even though our building is no longer on lockdown, I've been making late night runs to the vape shop, and buying clearance 0 nic, and bumping it up to 3Mg/Ml at home.

I just cannot seem to get excited about making juice. Can anybody provide me with a killer desert recipe, that does not use more than 4 flavourings? most of my flavouring stock is depleted, but if the recipe looks good, I'll order some more. vaping Lemon Ice Drop Wild Berry as I type. This is getting serious!

I just started diy I used Dash Vapes. Free shipping for $35 & over. But I didn't see an option for bulk nicotine. Can only get 60 or 120ml bottles of nic.

Update I needed some flavors that Dash Vapes didn't have. So I placed an order with DIY Vape Supplies in Winnipeg. Great selection & you can get large quantities of nicotine. Free shipping on orders $100 or more. They shipped the package within a couple hours of my placing the order. I also picked up a 120ml of nic just to compare to the nic from dash. Everything that I ordered arrived & I will definitely use them again. No noticeable difference in the quality of the nicotine.

Please help me out guys. I live in the middle of Canada and want to try diy for the first time. Any recommendations as to where I should order from? I tried to order from liquid barn in USA but it did not make it here due to nic laws in canada. Where do I order from where I will actually get my package?!
If you need any 250mg nicotine let me know. I ship freebase and salt 250mg to Canada all the time.
