Resistance reading wrong, more power outputting.

Hi, I just changed my coil and the resistance is reading 0.184, the coil is actually 0.15. My last coil was reading 0.15 perfectly but since changing to a new one the resistance has increased. With the increase I can also feel more power from it, 30w with this new coil feels more like what 40w did with the previous coil, yet they are the exact same (or meant to be) resistance at 0.15.

Is this safe to use, the increase in power is a bit scary and I'm unsure as to whether a mod reading the wrong coil resistance can be dangerous or not?

Would appreciate any help or advice, or anyone who could possibly explain why this might be happening.

Ahh ok, thank you, the extra bit of power I felt when firing made me a little paranoid. Thanks again!

Usually fluctuation around +/- 0.05 or so is "just going to happen" as a coil is fired. Had one I had set up as 0.35 ohms and it read as 0.43 ohms when fired. Once it cooled it read out at about 0.40. Now, if it had dropped to 0.20 I might have rebuilt a coil. That would have been out of my "safe" range. If you're using a regulated mod it's okay to be a little concerned but understand a regulated device works to be forgiving. You need more concern if you're using mechanical mods. They don't forgive.

Legs of the coil not well-tightened will do that, too. Always check to be sure wires cannot be moved before calling the coil "installed."

Stainless steel wire IS GOING to fluctuate in resistance. It just is, it's the nature of stainless steel. I've seen some of mine change by about 0.08 ohms.

The other thing, coils out of a pack, if the pack says 0.45, those coils could be 0.40 or 0.52 or 0.6, especially if they are mass-produced.
