I'm going to tentatively ask a question: Have you thought about putting staged coils in it? Something like staged 24 ga with 26x2/36?

With the Valhalla I’ve tried about everything I can make...

2.5 and 3mm

Fused, Aliens, 4-7 wraps , up, down , close to posts, slightly farther out, all positions slightly different and wide open air flow.

Result is the same... great vape... hot as Satan’s Taint

Wait a minute. How are you vaping on a glucose meter?

Yep, sure are! I never vape over 30W so they're great for me. Trying the MXJO's for the first time since everyone seems to like them.
They'd be great for that and can't possibly go wrong for 3 bucks each. :D The old standard for a few years there. I'm sure I'll get some use out of em too.

I have a pair of MXJO 18650s (yellow and silver) that seemed fine in a regulated mod. I got them from a guy on craigslist with a bunch of other stuff. I wound up retiring them to the flashlights only because I had so many other 18650s, but they worked fine.

I think my overall displeasure is more with the Valhalla 28 RDA... have a great build in it, Vapes great... minus the heat transfer... maybe I just can’t build coils, position and wick it to where it’s not a flaming hot piece of shit... cause seriously what’s the point of this RDA if you take 4-5 rips but can’t hit it again for 5 mins

I’ll yank the build, do another... see if it changes... but I feel all I’ll be doing is adding to the frustration and dislike.
With the Valhalla I’ve tried about everything I can make...

Have you tried choosing thinner wire sizes, and, have you tried going for Ni80 instead of SS 316L? Reason I ask, a coil build that, watt for watt, ramps up faster in comparison to a different coil build, stores less heat energy so, during the cooldown stage, less heat will be transferred─via the legs of the coils and via the saturated wicks─into the deck. The slower it ramps up, the more time is spent on letting the coils transfer heat into the deck also, so...

Further, during the evaporation stage, powerful hits that last up to only 2-3 seconds give comparatively less time for heat to be transferred into both the deck and the metal cap, albeit it is nonetheless possible to replace the metal cap with an ultem/acrylic one in order to mitigate that part of the equation to some... err, degree. (Unlike the 38mm version, the 28mm version of the Valhalla doesn't give the option to buy a matching authentic ultem cap sold separately, but the 28mm version uses the same exact build deck as the Nightmare RDA, and, the latter RDA was available in ultem for a short while before it was sold out everywhere.) The trick, then, is to dive into powerful coil builds that give faster vapor production, and to fine tune all the various many parameters in such a particular way that the resulting vape will not be too hot nor give you a burned undertaste.

Also consider the fact that wide open airflow generally cools the coils down less, not more, so more heat gets transferred from the coils into the RDA as a result from too much airflow travelling toward empty space that surrounds the coils as opposed to travelling in such a particular way that it smashes right into the coils. An effective way to prevent coils from getting too hot producing an uncomfortably hot, semi-dry kind of vape, is to make optimum use of the so-called Coandă effect that causes the flow of air to be evenly and stably split into two halves each one of which tends to cling to the curvature that is the coil's cylinder shaped surface, and tends to do so in such a particular way that the two halves are merged back together again, also stably, on the downwind side of this same coil. Too much turbulence resulting from poorly optimised airflow characteristics creates so-called hot pockets, or small areas in which the same air keeps moving around in circles for some certain period that takes too long for heat to be evenly dispersed across the entire surface of the coil.

The coils variations I tried were...

3.27.36 2.5/3 mm 5/6/7 wrap N80 Aliens
4.27.37 2.5/3mm 5/6/7 wrap N80 Aliens
3.28.38 2.5/3mm 5/6/7 wrap N80 Aliens
4.28.36 2.5/3mm 5/6/7 wrap N80 Aliens
5.28.36 2.5/3mm 5/6 wrap N80 Aliens

2.26.36 fused in the same variants
2.27.37/38 in the same variants
2.28.36 in the same variants

I owned the Ultem Nightmare and it leaked past the orings pretty badly, similar to the Valhalla but less of an eye sore due to the cap not being semi transparent, unfortunately it also ran warm, just not Satan’s Anus hot.

I’m convinced for the way I like to vape, it’s just not for me and unless by some epiphany I nail a build in which I haven’t tried and or positioning; which I adjusted ever so slightly in both height and distance from the airflow and posts including wattage...

To which left me at 90w and the heat transfer was acceptable... but the vape was rather anemic.

Appreciate the suggestions, but I am fairly certain I’ve exhausted my knowledge and ability... although not closed to example pictures

So does this mean that a val and nightmare will be up for grabs? I use both..and lovem...i think youre gonna have to get with and RDA mfg and design your own rda. I run .08-.10 on both...use immortal and purge mods and have no complaints..just compliments. I mean y only u? Ive never heard this. Not saying its not true but just find it wierd. Have u tried a diff wire brand or build?

Different wire brand, no I haven't done that... I mostly use Kidney Puncher N80... but as for build parameters, yes I have tried a few as listed above in my response to Cam... and yes it is up for grabs in the Hardware section ;)

I have a Valhalla and two Nightmares, I use stubby drip tips on on all three, no heat issues here.
I run 3.26.36 N80 Aliens at 0.09 - 0.1 ohms with 30t batteries.

I wish I wasn't the odd man out, truly... it vapes really well... I absolutely like the airflow and the flavor it provides... I just can't get past the Satan's Asshole hot it runs...

Truly Ok with being the odd man out... tried to my ability to reconcile, wasn't able to... someone else can enjoy it, and I am ok with that.

We all are truly entitled to our own opinions and observations.

I'm still trying to get past Crom not liking the Beatles. How could anyone not like the "Revolver" album? A collection of damn fine work, imo.

But hey, to each, and all that.

I think it's the chain vaping thing that's killin you. Sincerely. You talk about things getting hot on the 4 or 5th rip. I mean my friend, most atties will get hot like that.

I rarely hit anything more than once at a time .That doesn't mean that that's the right way to vape, but it explains why there's only a small handful of atties that introduce any heat issues for me.

At bare minimum, chain vaping, especially at the power levels you usually do, makes somebody automatically more susceptible to heat.

Of course you know I only intend this in the most constructive manner.

I really only like one song from them. Lol. Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds. Never really liked all the other stuff but grew up in 80s metal so that may be why.

Nah

You saw me posting temp differences in our chat, 3-4 toots compared to 10 on another... nearly a 20*f variance.

For my needs it’s shit... if I can’t hit it. 3-4 times without it getting to hot and heat soaking the mod I’m using... what’s the point?

Doesn’t matter much what others experience with the Valhalla, or what coil and ohms they run, just doesn’t suit my vaping style.

And it’s not that I chain vape a lot... I don’t, but I do take 2-3 rips in succession... and as beat this horse is... the Valhalla just stays to hot.

I additionally tried more coils and positioning than any one person would or should attempt to get the vape they need from an atomizer... from .10-.24, from 75w to 140w... on mech and on regulated... same result... hot after 3-4 rips

So let someone who enjoys them, has no issue with them... thinks they are awesome have at it... this guy is over it.

And if it offends anyone I call an item shit that they like... why? I don’t think it’s shit for you... just shit for me

Much of their best music was on their albums, and they were cuts you'd almost never hear on the radio. One of my favorites was "Paperback Writer," and I bet I can count on my two hands the number of times I've heard that on the radio since 1980.

It's hard to come up with very many people or groups that had a more significant impact on music than the Fab Four. IMHO.

I think some of us did a lot of Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds and others did a lot of head bangin to metal. I'll just leave that out there.

Got my other buttons from Koncio Mods today. The first two in the mods are the ones he engraved on the wrong button. The other two are what I wanted, and a couple of tips. I like and will use the first two, just not what I wanted. He sent the correct two immediately, DHL, and gave me a discount on my next order??????

Good heavens, if you have tried ALL that and still does not get you the vape you are wanting/expecting..Ya, I'd say you did your best and toss it in the drawer. Sorry. I hate that when shit like that happens. We've all had it happen at one time or another. SUCKS!

BCF order in, they included a freebie, which is my kind of flavor profile, Super Aromas Milky Caramel Fudge, just no idea what % to use with it.

If that SSA flavor is anything like the ones I just got, start low, I mean really low. Like a 0.25 and try it. They are also VERY good. Best Vanilla Ice Cream ever!
