Not getting suckered into an argument. Sorry :)

All I'll say is, I live in a country that's relatively free of irrationality that could affect my own life. The day that changes, I'll move someplace else or take up arms.

Something that always irritates me about MOST Christians is that ideally, we are to be obedient to the Gospels...yet in the Book of Mark, it clearly states the we are to NOT proselytise......yet again...most Christians do JUST THAT. Christ himself said in so many words...that if they are not buying what you are selling...then kindly fuck off.

Letting people believe what they want is fine and dandy as long as everybody else is free from the consequences of their beliefs. When the irrational invades the public space (think sharia law countries where people get killed for blaspheming, or the US where certain adults want kids to learn creationism at school), that's when the need arises to determine who's right and wrong.
I have no problem with kids learning creationism but not in a science class due to no facts and proof... creationism should be done in a class like religious studies and that class should have the option to be taken or not

I'm off to bed but real quick I'm going to talk about my 8 year old and what happened at school and how I had words with her teacher about creationism and evolution......I have given my girl both sides of the story and I'm going to let her make up her own mind up...When I was explaining evolution to her I showed her this Picture posted below and told her some people including me believe we had evolved from apes...One day she comes home upset and after I asked her what's going on she told me That she had brought up that we could have come from apes and that the whole class laughed at her and the teacher told her "You can't believe everything you see on the Internet" (She didn't know I told/showed her )...I told the teacher at the next "parent and teacher conference" That I have told her BOTH sides of the story and that I'm not pushing anything on her and that she is going to make her own decisions what she wants to believe in and if she ever pushes her own believes or agendas on my kid again she will fucking regret it..Point is... this is what gets my goat...shit being pushed on others...I'm the fucking atheist but I'm still giving my kid both sides of the story.. where obviously this teacher is religious ( The gold cross necklace helped me come to that conclusion ) and telling my kid one thing isn't true and undermining me... I don't care what anyone says...In my book That's fucked up!!!

We didn't evolve from apes.

1. Apes are evolved creatures; they evolved, too.
2. We have a direct common ancestor with apes. We all evolved from ape-like creatures.
3. Actually, we are apes. We are classified as apes (great apes for whatever that's worth).

Fair enough. But if anyone wonders when the rest of the apes will finally evolve into humans, well, it doesn't work that way. They just evolved in different directions. :)

I was raised a Christian and have many conflicting issues with the religion. At a point in my life I was shown how much of a business it is. However, I do BELIEVE there is something greater than us out there. I agree with a lil of this and a lil of that in many different religions and disagree with a lil of this and a lil of that in many different religions. I'm not sure I'll ever find a specific religion to follow with total devotion. Ppl just be good to each other and look out for each other, NO MAN IS ISLAND, we can't walk our given path alone.

Arguably, good people transcend religion and the problematic bits. And Morgan Freeman kind of lost a little cred with the Through the Wormhole series mixing woo with science.

I just found out the you can't write the scientific name of the human species on this site without having the first word automatically expurgated. Thus @No Ash More Cash's spelling H0m0. I'm a bit slow on the uptake. o_O

I'm glad this thread has settled down a bit and has become civilized with some humor:)... and the haters or people who took this thread the wrong way have left or realized what this thread is really about ...They are welcome here but again I don't want this thread to be a pissing match...With that being said...Thought of the day... "One nation under god" In the Pledge of Allegiance...If you know History you may know the Pledge of Allegiance has changed/ added on over the years..."One nation under god" was added In 1954, in response to the Communist threat of the times, President Eisenhower encouraged Congress to add the words "under God," creating the 31-word pledge we say today..
Tidbit of the day
The original Bellamy salute to the Pledge of Allegiance Pictured below was changed to the hand over the heart in 1942 due to good reason

Religion by itself is not bad, it's the implementation and manipulation of it that can be problematic.
Good point but without Religion there wouldn't be implementation and manipulation"..so it comes back to was Religion man made...everything written is by mans hand

And thats where Censorship fucks everything up... A good and classic example ...In 1996 in which AOL's profanity filter prevented residents of the town of Scunthorpe, Lincolnshire, England to use AOL just because where they lived

As i see it, when man wrote down the bible, it was based on all sorts of folk stories that were common before and was based on the the understanding of physics and the universe that was common back then.

You have to remember Morgan Freeman is just a Actor and has no scientific merit

Just because man has deemed what we consider Science as a avenue for mankind to have a measure of "objects" does not mean we are going down the right path when one studies science and has for most of their life outside a protected world one will see that we have questions which is a given but not the answers some of those very answers are required to solve the rest of the questions in the scientific method sadly the first question is cascading and therefore because the premise is a cascading problem the conclusion can never be answered fully as the original question is impossible to answer.
