I was discussing a trade with someone. Well dude has a legendary collection and I knew inside that none of my gear would appeal. Now I need to adamantly say that I absolutely do not fault the individual for not being interested in my crap. We struck a deal anyway. My point is that most of my stuff was either traded, bought, or gifted to my by the awesome VU community. I love my stuff, most of it has a sentimental connection between these amazing people here. When it comes to selling or trading it is so hard when someone gives me something It means a lot to me. For sure in clear conscience I could not sell these things for profit. I will give it away but sell? No. I guess I just wanted to share my gratitude to every one here. With your help I do not smoke. I want to thank individually but I am affraid I will leave someone out. You all are the greatest and I will say again, I love my low-mid end junk. It has extended and improved the quality of my life. Peace and love to all. Thank you.

My Mid Range shit suits me just fine. I've been using a GBOX at work since they first came out. It still works to this day. Got a silicone Luxotic squonk bottle in it
I had bought 5 more on sale a couple years ago in case this one quit. It hasn't. 5 new GBOX's still in the stash!

Yeah the Gbox is great. I am partial to GV products. I would like to get squonking more but at the moment I only have my trusty Og Pulse which I love. I know voltage sag bla bla. It works hard and reliable. Also looks great. My Gbox, God rest it's soul is with the marine wildlife in Clearwaters inter-coastal water way. It would be cool to see an octopus squonking (a squonktopus?) It was only 2-3 months old. At that time I got mine at a b&m for like almost a C note. It was peicey for me but I loved it. Well have a great week. Be blessed, stay safe, and look out for the crazies.
Rick
P.s. the red, white, and blue battery wraps you sent look great in the Pulse. A great example of the blessings I have recieved at VU..

I never had any problems with GV products either.

Take care

With only a very few exceptions, I'm a big Geekvape fan as well. I did not much like the Nova mod because the combination of the size and the square corners made it uncomfortable for me to hold. I tried an Ammit MTL RDA one time and nearly sucked the teeth right out of my mouth trying to use it. @AndriaD should buy one - talking about gnat's-ass tight, that thing IS. And this little stick something-or-other that I got from eciggity, it's meh at best. When GV says "MTL" you better believe 'em. lol Oh, and I wasn't much impressed with the Radar RDA.

My most recent complaint has been with the Aegis Max, but it's growing on me. I like it better today than I did last week.

The Zeus X Mesh is on its way to becoming the G-O-A-T for me. It is an absolute winner. AND I really like their Clapton/Fused Clapton, etc. pre-wound spooled wire. I do so admire @Just Frank - there is NO WAY I'm going to try to make my own Clapton wire. I would have an unbelievable mess.

Thanks I can see myself hitting you up at some point. I bought 10 new batteries from 18650 battery store. They are proud to tell you that you get free battery wraps with purchase. They included 2. Their servive was good other wise. Thank you Pastor.

I feel you brother. Before I moved in with my wife, I was buying nothing but the mod- high end stuff. I had no bills, no real financial responsibility; but, vaping and fishing were my two hobbies and I spared no expense on either.
now that things have changed and I have other humans to think about ive pretty much stopped buying hardware. I sold most of my higher end gear, but I’ve managed to either buy from some awesome members here or was gifted some stellar gear by awesome members.
I don’t know that I could ever part with those pieces. Every time I pick them up, I instantly remember the individuals that have become like a family to me.

I think there's basically 4 ranges of stuff. Real low end starter stuff, off brand, likely low grade. Then there's low to midrange frequently owned/used things, daily driver types. High end commercial stuff like yihi/dna along the lines of like lost vape, boxer etc. Then the real high end stuff, custom made, one offs etc.

Unfortunately the market often blurs the lines and may have things they try to push into the high end commercial arena or in that awkward price range above the every day mods and high end. Like $80-90 dovpo's or something sans dna chip. When in reality it's more similar to the $30-45 mods, just carrying an inflated price tag. Or some posing in the $40-60 range that really belong alongside the $15-20 stuff.

Maybe it's just me, I don't have anything fancy. No mod $50 or more. Plenty of great mods with lots of features to choose from without spending more and plenty of mods costing more that somehow get more 'swag' than they really deserve. Nothing at all wrong with low-mid end stuff.

Interesting, I just spent almost $100 with them a couple weeks ago and they didn't send me any free items.

But I only bought Deal of the Day items and used a coupon on top of that, so perhaps they figured I got a good enough deal (which I did lol).

I've said before, and I'll say again, I like getting the midrange stuff after it's been on the market a while and can be had at a lower price. Things like the Revenant TVL Delta squonker kit that was about $140 when it was first released. I paid about $35 for the kit on sale. It's a great quality piece, and cost me less than my hubbs pays for a carton of cigarettes.

I've spent a little money on a Cerberus mod and two Asgard Mini RDAs, and I bought two Squid Detonator mods, and paid very near full price for those things. Almost everything else I have, I've bought on sale.

It can also be really nice sometimes to discover something old-school that's amazing, like the Augvape Boreas V1 tanks I recently bought from the Hardware thread, or the Joyetech eVic VTC Mini kit from Wetvapes. After I bought the VTC Mini kit, I discovered that the eGo One Mega tank that comes with it has "R" version coils that can be rewicked and/or rebuilt. Nice surprise! The tank holds close to 5ml of juice, I run it at 25W, so the way I rotate through a lot of different devices, I can go for WEEKS and not need to refill it.

I have had 3 regulated mods that malfunctioned on me in a manner that was a safety hazard. Two of them were Yihi mods. I'll never buy a Yihi mod ever again. But I also won't bother to buy a DNA mod since I see no value in them given that my mainstream mods work for me as they should.

I bought the original Taifun GT2 RTA. I liked it and wanted more but I wasn't about to spend that kind of money again. So I bought an infinite clone of it. The clone was actually better (the threading was much smoother). I sold the original so that I could buy more of the clone.

I learned my lesson fairly early on in my vaping career.

I also never buy anything that hasn't been on the market for at least 6 months. No guinea pig here.

Some of the mech tubes I used years ago were made by Infinite. I always found them to be of good quality. They were fiddly, though, and I just can't stand that, but that was definitely not unique to Infinite. Still, newer mech tubes work a lot better than the ones I had 4-5 years ago, especially the hybrids. Easy peasy, you just have to be careful with your batteries and the 510 pin on the atty.

I absolutely love the clone of the Broadside Nashed Admiral I recently got from 2fdeals. It was just a little bit fiddly, because it's not a hybrid, but my god, the switch on that thing is fantastic. I put a Profile RDA on it, so it doesn't take much juice from the battery to give a good vape. It's just a great setup and the whole thing cost me about $40.

2 of the very best flavor RDAs I have are the Rementry, 2 bucks, and the Devil, 7 bucks. The build quality is ho hum with the Devil and downright shoddy on the Rementry. If I hold them up against a Vaponaute RDA, 150 bucks, or even a Vaperz Cloud RDA, 50 bucks, they are junk by comparison as far as build quality. Night and day.

However, they do vape awesome :D

Many moons ago there was a person on a small, now-defunct vape forum who complained that all his mainstream mods were shit because they just didn't hit as hard the couple of DNA mods he had - using the same atty with the same coil at the same voltage.

He assumed that the DNA mods were perfect since they were DNA mods, therefore the problem must lie with the inferior parts used on the mainstream mods.

Others pointed out to him that it could possibly be that his DNA mods were hitting higher than they were set for, rather than his mainstream mods hitting lower than they were set for. But the guy wouldn't budge on his belief that the mainstream mods were just shit and the DNA mods were working at 100% accuracy and efficiency, just because they were DNA mods that he'd paid a premium for.

However, he never tested the mods and didn't have the means to do so (in other words - no scientific data, just pure religious belief). Someone offered to send him a meter to test the outputs but he initially refused but eventually accepted because there was compelling evidence posted that, in fact, the DNA mods were most likely the mods that were running inaccurately, not the mainstream mods.

I personally thought this would be a worthless attempt to prove his DNA mods were the mods that weren't working properly because the guy was dead set on believing that DNA was flawless and would therefore never post his findings unless they were in favor of the DNA mods.

But lo and behold he turned out to be an honest fanboy! He reported back that, in fact, the DNA mods were hitting harder than they should (in other words, outputting more voltage than was set for). He was shocked and dismayed to find out his beloved DNA mods weren't the works of perfection he had been brainwashed to believe and that the mainstream mods were ACTUALLY more accurate. :giggle:

And if I remember correctly, there were, of course, fanboys trying to rationalize the finding with non-facts because their world has literally been turned upside down.

I'm not saying DNA mods are shit (not at all), but I am saying that fanboys are never to be trusted - fanboyism is usually just a religious belief. And fanboys attract other fanboys who, when mobbed together, try to push their religion as though it is scientific fact. This is not unique to the vape market, of course.

I wish I could remember the name of that forum so I could check to see if that thread was archived by wayback. Must've been about 2013 or 2014, I think. (SHIT, now I'm gonna think about this all day!)

Superb post.

I am no DNA fanboy. I have numerous mainstream Chinese mods that I love and use regularly.

I do however feel duty bound to bring this up though. 2012/2013 is a while ago, Pre escribe days. Nowadays there are adjustments that can be made (like internal mod resistance) that can be tweaked to remedy a specific mod that is hitting too weak or strong :)

Your point is well taken about fanboyism though and props to your boy for being honest.

Let’s be honest. And I say this as a fellow dna fanboy.

the 20 was great
the 30 is probably the most accurate and best models board to have ever been produced
the 40 was complete shit and never should have been released the public.
the only upside to the dna40 was that its failure pushed evolv to release the 200 and escribe to save the company. I don’t know that for a fact but I’m fairly convinced and damn glad they did.

I have two DNA250C mods, but I really can't say they're any better than the cheapest mod I have, the Geekvape Nova. I found that I really don't need anything fancy, since I only vape in wattage mode anyway now that I've switched to rebuildables. The Nova does a great job, and it's a solid mod with no rattling buttons, battery door that stays put and is comfortable in my hand. I'm done buying high-end mods too.

I like my Nova. It looks very nice and performs as it should. I think for a minute you could get one from China for like $25. Works exactly like my Legend. I believe they share the same chip.

I like my Nova a lot, too, except for one thing: The battery cover is held in place with magnets and, being that it's one side of the box, it moves back and forth a little when grasping it unless I grip it carefully with both hands. That means the magnets are rubbing against each other, the ones on the cover against the ones holding it. If I remember science class, rubbing the + and - sides of magnets together scrambles their atoms and makes them lose their magnetism.
It looks and works great but, one day, we might have to be wrapping tape around our Novas to hold in the batteries.

Love my Ammit and it's not at all tight for me ... restricted DL and I generallyb MTL.

I don't escribe to any chipset (get it, lol.) However a lot of the DNA mods are better built - not the chipset but the mods itself to justify expense. I have no issue with mainstream mods. Always liked the Pico (but put artic fox on it). I still have a smpl with an OG goon I use regularly. Geekvape is okay. DNA chipsets are resistant to spills ... they do last a long time. And as mentioned can be tweaked to preference. I never bother ... I MTL generally if not using a tube so I just set pwr to my needs. Also chipset is efficient - unlike yihi.

I have numerous DNAs and Dicode mods. I'm a hoe for sure. I bought the Mirage (hardly cheap) and the battery door was shit and I glued it in place and now externally charge. Chipset is still fine, lol. So the best makers miss the mark at times. I ujse a tesla steampunk 86w I got for free and I have a Ammit on it and love it. I have two or three chinese cheap mods. I like 'em all. But I'm too much of a hoe not to own stabwoods and danis and billets et all.

If one could know for sure that a high-end mod would last a lifetime, I'd spend the money for a Dicodes or a Dovpo DNA or something. But there's no way to be certain. If every Chinese mod I have lasts an average of 2 years in rotation -- as in 730 noncontiguous days of use -- I should be set for life. But there's no way to be certain of that, either. It's kind of harrowing, with the PMTA stuff and all.

I discovered on my Drag 2 if I folded the battery ribbon and left just a teensy bit of it sticking out so that the battery door would close on it, the door would not shift. Before that, it was driving me nuts to use it.

I did eventually put it away, though. I have plenty of mods that I don't have to mess with that way.

I'll have to set you up with a lifetime e-scription :)

All true. Most DNA driven mods are all in all better built than less expensive mainstream mods and Evolv coats their boards with electronic lacquer making them resistant to contamination from juice or moisture. Super efficient and accurate.

I do have some chintzomatic bargain gear that I love though too. Some that cost well under 20 bucks that I'll never part with. Truth be told, anybody could get by just fine with a 20 dollar mod and a ten dollar rta bought on cleance sale from one of the China shops. In fact not just get by, but enjoy a great vape with it.

Todd's good for that in his reviews. He recently reviewed the requiem rda (for instance), which costs like 30 bucks usd and he's almost afraid to say it as he chuckles through, but he says that that rda vapes as good as any high end rda he has in it's category. He's almost apologetic as he tells us that you ain't losin nuthin by going for this rda over one that costs 3-5 times as much (paraphrase).

That said, "high end" is high end for reason. I have some higher end stuff now and the build quality is a couple levels up and the atomizers I have anyway all vape awesome. (Vaponaute, Hussar, Kayfun etc.)

Now THAT said, some of the clones coming outta China are well worth having. I have SXK Le Turbo, Dvarw and Karma clones that are incredibly well made. I mean as in REALLY well made. The little people in the east have mastered the dark craft.

@gadget! recently sold me the Karma clone that he accidentally originally advertised as authentic. Honest mistake. He had to find the package to realize it wasn't authentic, which he told me about before we sealed the deal to be clear. The quality is that good.

I always go off on these tangents, but the bottom line is, I can see the market for all levels of products.

Quoted & Bumped for truth. BUMP

Fast Tech now offers a ~$18 Coppervape. They have quite a few ~$10 or less RDA that do really well. So yes, you can do very good for a kit at around $30 USD. I do. :)

So true. I use all levels of gear - I just like showing off in handchecks! And speaking of Chinese - amade in China are Lost Vape, Armegedon, Dovpo and Dot - all high quality gear. Ultroner makes decent stabwood - no not as good as some of my others but very nice.
